Red Carpet for Solyndra Figure at Democratic Convention

ABC News ^ | September 4, 2012 | Brian Ross and Matthew Mosk

The Obama campaign rolled out the red carpet this week for a former top Energy Department official who was at the center of the ill-fated government loan to Solyndra, a California solar panel firm that wound up in bankruptcy.

Steven J. Spinner joined other top fundraisers for a VIP tour of the Democratic National Convention floor in Charlotte Monday evening, posing and waving for a photographer while standing behind the podium. When he saw ABC News cameras, however, he ran for the exit.

Spinner was last in the headlines in October, when emails surfaced showing he had pushed for the Solyndra loan from his post in the Energy Department, apparently in an effort to score the loan as a political victory for President Obama.

"How hard is this? What is he waiting for?" Spinner wrote in one of them. "I have OVP [the Office of the Vice President] and WH [the White House] breathing down my neck on this."

The fast-tracked Solyndra loan became the showpiece of the Obama administration's Green Energy loan program -- a plan to give a jolt of federal aid to firms developing new forms of alternative energy. Solyndra, the program's inaugural loan recipient, received $535 million.

Romney Fires Back After DNC Platform Excludes Jerusalem as Israeli Capital

algemeiner ^ | 9/4/2012

Unlike the party’s 2008 platform, the Democrats 2012 platform does not specifically mention Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and now Mitt Romney is firing back.
“It is unfortunate that the entire Democratic Party has embraced President Obama’s shameful refusal to acknowledge that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” Romney said in an e-mail to reporters.

Mitt Romney at the Western Wall

In 2008, the Democratic platform stated: “Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.”
Earlier this year, White House Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest stated “the capital [of Israel] is something that should be determined in final status negotiations between the parties. I’d remind you that that’s the position that’s been held by previous administrations, both Democratic and Republican.”
The Jerusalem Embassy Act, which calls for Jerusalem to be recognized as the capital of Israel, was passed by Congress in 1995 but has never been implemented. Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and now Barack Obama have viewed it as a congressional infringement on the executive branch’s constitutional authority over foreign policy.
“Four years of President Obama’s repeated attempts to create distance between the United States and our cherished ally have led the Democratic Party to remove from their platform an unequivocal acknowledgment of a simple reality,” Romney’s statement read on Tuesday. “As president, I will restore our relationship with Israel and stand shoulder to shoulder with our close ally.”

Why Blame Obama? (Let us count the ways)

American Thinker ^ | 09/04/2012 | Randall Hoven

Let me count the ways.

Before inauguration

Senator Obama voted for the budgets he would later blame on Bush, and for the TARP bailout. After just two months of TARP, the Bush administration said it was done -- crisis averted. In fact, President Bush was done after using about $270 billion of the $350 B that was authorized by Congress. But as a courtesy to the incoming president, Bush would request the second $350B from Congress if President-Elect Obama asked for it. President-Elect Obama asked for it, and he got it. Tim Geithner, who could not do his own taxes and who, as a regulator, did nothing about the Libor scandal, would have all $700B to play with.

We usually call TARP a "bank bailout," but the banks are paying back every cent lent to them. In fact, the part of TARP that went to banks is expected to return $3B to taxpayers. And most of that was paid back quickly. The "cost" of the "bank bailout" was less than zero!
The real bailouts. When the dust clears, the CBO expects TARP to cost taxpayers $32B. Who got that money if banks didn't? General Motors, Chrysler, and "mortgage programs." But GM and Chrysler went bankrupt anyway.
The U.S. auto industry was not "saved." Going bankrupt does not have to mean going out of business. See, for example, Delta Airlines. It went bankrupt in the usual, lawful way and is operating today. On the other hand, GM could be heading into bankruptcy again, post-bailout. Oh, and since the bailout, "GM has increased its manufacturing capacity in China by 55 percent."
The government auto takeovers did not prevent bankruptcies. What they prevented was the usual rule of bankruptcy law. Instead of paying back creditors in a predictable and lawful way,

Poll: Only 31% believe we’re better off than four years ago (Yet, DNC says "Yes we are better off")

Hotair ^ | 09/04/2012 | Ed Morrissey

No wonder Democrats tried their best to run away from the Reagan Metric this weekend. Surrogates such as David Axelrod, David Plouffe, and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley tried dodging the inevitable question in every presidential election: are we better off now than we were four years ago? A new poll from The Hill shows why Democrats want to change the subject every time that question gets asked:
A majority of voters believe the country is worse off today than it was four years ago and that President Obama does not deserve reelection, according to a new poll for The Hill.
Fifty-two percent of likely voters say the nation is in “worse condition” now than in September 2008, while 54 percent say Obama does not deserve reelection based solely on his job performance.
Only 31 percent of voters believe the nation is in “better condition,” while 15 percent say it is “about the same,” the poll found. Just 40 percent of voters said Obama deserves reelection.
The poll, conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, has an R+2 likely-voter sample at 34/36/30. That's nearly identical to 2010′s 35/35/30 turnout, and given the enthusiasm deficit seen this year among Democrats, looks like a very defensible model for the general election. The main questions have much more separation than a 2-3 point swing in partisan affiliation would impact, anyway.
These numbers look bad for Obama all the way down the line. On the better off question, most demos offer majorities for "worse," including critical demos like 18-39YOs (33/50 better/worse), those earning between $20K-$40K (25/58), and especially independents (21/60). Even women offer a strong plurality of failure (33/47). Only Democrats (64/20), liberals (62/14), and those making more than $100,000 per year (52/38) think things have improved.
The first question asked in this poll is the re-election query: Based solely on job performance, does President Obama deserve to be re-elected? Obama loses this question — which gets asked before the better off question or anything else — by 14 points. Even a majority of women (40/51) say no, and the exact same percentage occurs with the younger voter demo. Obama loses this by 29 points among independents (32/61). It’s a stunning, broad, and deep rejection of Obama’s first term as President, hardly an “incomplete.” And this is just two months before voters go to the polls to make this very choice.
This demonstrates the danger for Team Obama in running on their record. They cannot allow this election to be about Barack Obama and his agenda. They have to make it about Mitt Romney and how deeply scaaaaaaary Republicans are. That’s why Democrats dodged and weaved when asked the simple question that goes to the heart of voters’ decisions in presidential elections, especially when incumbents ask for a second term. To answer this at all, either positively or negatively, turns the election into a referendum on Obama — a report card, if you will — which will inevitably lead to Obama flunking his final exam.

Obama’s Enthusiasm Deficit Could Soon Haunt Him

National Journal ^ | 09/04/2012 | Charlie Cooke

Just as Mitt Romney’s challenge last week at the Republican National Convention was to connect on a personal level with voters and make them comfortable with the idea of him sitting in the Oval Office, President Obama’s challenge this week at the Democratic National Convention is to reignite the flame—the passion among young and Latino voters that burned four years ago but is now just a smoldering ember.

Three demographic groups turbocharged Obama’s 7-percentage-point victory over John McCain in 2008: young voters ages 18-29, Latinos, and African-Americans. Their influx changed the composition of the electorate that year, making it look quite different from the makeup of voters in 2000 and 2004. Whether the 2012 electorate looks more like 2008—or 2004, or 2000—is a very big deal for both Obama and Romney.
Among the 9,659 registered voters interviewed by the Gallup Organization’s tracking polls Aug. 6-26, Romney and Obama were tied overall at 46 percent. But Obama beat Romney by 24 points, 58 percent to 34 percent, among voters ages 18-29 and by a whopping 32 points, 61 percent to 29 percent, among Latinos. In each case, the percentage who say they will definitely vote is significantly lower than it is among other demographic groups who view Obama less charitably.
Voters ages 65 and older favor Romney by a 15-point margin, 54 percent to 39 percent, and 86 percent of those in that oldest cohort say they definitely plan to vote, compared with just 61 percent of those ages 18-29. Romney has a statistically insignificant 1-point edge (46 percent to 45 percent) among those 30 to 49 years of age, but 80 percent of them say they will definitely vote. Among the 50-to-64 age group, Romney leads by 3 points, 48 percent to 45 percent, with 86 percent of that cohort saying they will definitely vote.
Among Latinos, just 66 percent say they definitely plan to vote, far below the 82 percent level among non-Hispanic whites, who favor Romney by 17 points, 55 percent to 38 percent.
Of those three critical groups from 2008, only African-Americans look reliably likely to turn in numbers in the same ballpark as four years ago. The Gallup polling shows Obama beating Romney by 90 percent to 4 percent, with 80 percent of African-Americans interviewed saying they definitely plan to vote, almost the same level as the 82 percent among whites.
In short, Obama has to fear that his good margins among young and Latino voters will be offset by their low volumes and that those groups simply won’t matter as much as they did four years ago.
The influx of new voters in 2008 was the subject of a national survey conducted in the spring by Louisiana State University’s Reilly Center for Media and Public Affairs, which produced a report last month titled “What Happened to Hope and Change?” The survey was conducted from April 20 to June 16 and compared 511 first-time 2008 voters with 498 other voters who had voted in previous elections. The report, by the Reilly Center’s Kirby Goidel, Michael Climek, and Maxwell Means, found that, as one might expect, first-time voters remained more supportive of Obama than the overall electorate, in large part because “they are younger, more likely to identify as racial minorities, and more Democratic in their partisan affiliation.”
But the study also found “consistent evidence that President Obama’s 2008 first-time voters are less supportive than other Obama voters, reflecting a decline in enthusiasm among a key voting bloc in the 2012 elections.”
The importance of these groups for Obama’s chances can’t be overstated. Among so many other demographic groups, the fight is close. But among young voters, Latinos, and Hispanics, Obama’s margins are huge. They can yield a higher return on investment for Obama than the more closely fought groups. But first they have to show up.

Ten of Barack Obama’s worst lies

http://www.coachisright.com/ten-of-barack-obamas-worst-lies/ ^ | Sept. 4, 2012 | Derrick Hollenbeck, staff writer

Attempting to select THE ten worst lies told by a pathological liar like Barack Obama is a difficult task.
There are so many lies that it is hard to know where to start – a good case can be made for so many of his lies as top ten material. For this reason there is no claim here to a TOP ten of his lies, ten of his most egregious ones.
During his last State of the Union speech Barack Obama claimed “American oil production is the highest that it’s been in eight years.”
In fact the Congressional Research Service reports that 96% of the increase comes from oil fields out of Obama’s control. By contrast the production from federally owned oil fields he does control has dropped by 275,000 barrels a day. It is worth noting that privately owned fields have increased by 395,000 barrels a day.
Obama has told the world there has never been a better friend of Israel’s in the White House.
Last Sunday an Israeli newspaper reported that senior Obama Administration officials have told Tehran that Barack Obama does not intend to join Israel in any attack on Iran’s nuclear installations. In May 2011 Obama asked G8 member nations to fund the Arab Spring counties who are clearly on their way to planning an all-out attack on Israel.
In May 2011 Obama said the fence between America and Mexico was “basically complete” yet the Department of Homeland Security admits just 36.3 miles or 5% of the border is fenced.
Obama lied and said abortions would not be publicly funded under Obamacare.
Despite Obama’s empty lies about no public funding for abortions a March 2012 edict from HHS unequivocally ruled Obamacare will use our tax dollars to fund abortion.....

Harry Reid's Son Representing Chinese Solar Panel Plant in $5 Billion Nevada Deal!

briebart ^ | 09-04-2012 | Wynton Hall

The son of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), Rory Reid, is the primary representative for ENN Energy Group, a Chinese energy company seeking to build a $5 billion solar panel plant on a 9,000-acre Clark County desert plot in Laughlin, Nevada.

ENN scored big when Clark County commissioners unanimously voted to sell the Chinese company the public land for just $4.5 million, despite the fact that it was appraised at $38.6 million.

Obama's Vision For America: Detroit After 40 Years of Unrelenting Democrat Rule!

Michelle Obama's Mirror ^ | 9-4-2012 | MOTUS

What a line-up! The DNC, has a blockbuster opening act (Lady M), butt she’s still in detox/cleansing and rehearsals:

“All this for a damn hag?” No,wait, that’s not right TOTUS!
Plus we have a whole bunch of Hollywood “A-listers” lined up: Sarah Jessica Parker, George Clooney, Anne Hathaway, Ben Affleck, Sheryl Crow, Susan Sarandon, Oprah – no wait, that was last time. I guess they all have previous commitments this year...
...That’s right! Big Guy’s Choomwagon crew!

Lady M knuckle knockin’ with Kumar (I HOPE that’s not racist)
...Even before we get officially underway, our DNC Washerwoman Chairwoman has been working hard to set the tone for this important election:
Debbie Wasserman Schultz says the Republican Party only had “superficial” diversity on display at its convention in Tampa last week —a contrast to Democrats reflecting actually “the rich diversity that we know is so important in Americans.”
Because we know there’s nothing more important than diversity:
“Last week, the Republicans put a lot of different folks up on the stage,” Wasserman Schultz said on POLITICO Live Monday. “It’s actions that matter, not just words.”
Right-on, right-on, right-on, Little Debbie!! Just ask the citizens of Detroit about actions vs. words! Detroit has enjoyed over 40 years of exclusive Democratic control...

Eastwood Showed the Way for Mitt's Ad Men

American Thinker ^ | Sept. 4, 2012 | Jack Nostromo

As a twenty-year-plus adman, I've observed the Romney ad plan with trepidation. Presumably due a variety of poll-driven rationales, it has failed to exploit many of the President's most glaring (and chilling) weaknesses. Simply put, the Romney ads focus on Mitt's strengths (good), Obama's policy weakness (good), Obama's lousy record in office (good), plus they provide somewhat tepid responses to the toxic lies and specious charges hurled against Romney (ok).

What this campaign doesn't do is define Obama as a man with a history. A really bad man with a bad history. It ignores his character, fails to question his mysterious past, avoids mentioning his apparent document fraud, ignores his extreme leftist actions and never, perish the thought, points out those pesky anti-American mentors and associations the President has had for his entire life.

This approach can be boiled down, for me, to Rubio's speech at the convention in which he stated that Obama is "a good man, but a bad president."

I fear this gives the President an unwarranted pass that could affect the decisions of undecided voters. The gamble the Romney ad campaign appears to be taking is that these voters are too delicate to be presented with the truth about Obama and would be so horrified by it that they would vote against Romney because of it. I think thatomitting Obama, the ruthless, Socialist from the conversation is a bet we shouldn't be making.

And we found out that's not how Clint Eastwood rolls.

Here are Clint's key messages about Obama, the man:

Dem Convention Poster, 2012 Democrat Convention underway

Obama is Toast

GOP Mike's Blog ^ | 9/4/12 | GOP Mike

Now that the Republicans have had their convention and Romney is up in the Polls despite the fact that the media and the polling organizations skew the polls to show NoBama still is up, I want to ease my conservative friends' fears (and I mean fears) that this fraud will win reelection...

Obama won the 2008 election with everything going his way. And I mean everything. An economic meltdown (caused by the libs...), an extremely weak, old opponent with no juice and a VP candidate that polarized many of the dim-witted voters who really don't pay attention. A country that basically had enough of the Bush's and the one thing that many people don't like to discuss. White guilt...
Yes, there were many people that gave Oblammer a shot because he promised to be a centrist that brought the country together despite the fact that this guy had absolutely no skills, no experience and I would not hire this guy to work for my small business!!! You see lib-tards, the country is not a racist country. I am not saying there are not racists, I am saying the country is full of good people that would hire and elect a black, a Latino, a Asian if we thought they could do the job effectively.

All that said, the country gave him a shot and he got a lot of independents and a fair share of Republicans to vote for him...

Well, that is done!!! The country is in no mood for making the same mistake twice. The country is sick and tired of this economy, sick and tired of 8% ++ unemployment, sick and tired of this housing mess. In fact, the country is sick and tired of Barack Hussein Obama, his party, his divisiveness and his lies...

He is an absolute hack politician of the worse degree and the country knows it. The jig is up and he and his ilk know it.

Yet, you will see this week that this guy and his pathetic party will be trying the same fear tactics, the same class warfare, the same tired old socialist policies that the majority of the country knows do NOT WORK!!!

Barry is out of tricks. He doesn't seem so cool anymore and the country is wise to his bullshit...

Check out this great video that will be plastering the airwaves shortly in every swing state...

Wow!!! If that doesn't tell you this guy has nothing left, I don't know what will... This guy and his party are intellectually bankrupt with ideas and excuses. Their phony "War on Women", class warfare and trying to Paint Romney and Ryan as extremists is a joke. They have nothing to run on as his policies have been an abject failure and they know it.
Now, I don't pretend to love Mitt Romney and agree with everything he stands for. But this guy has been a success everywhere he goes. He's a technician, a problem solver and most of all, he's a winner that knows how to fix a mess. This is what this guy has done his entire career and has been extremely successful in doing it!!
I have a few questions for my readers to ponder.
Since when do we have to hide our success in this country instead of celebrating it???
Since when do we want a loser to run our country instead of a winner???
Since when have we been this divided as a nation???
Since Barack Obama was elected...
Well, that changes in 63 days... Book it!!!
Just my thoughts...
GOP Mike

Who is Funding the $35M HI Estate for the Obamas' Move Jan 2013?

Hillbuzz ^ | September 2, 2012 | Kevin DuJan

Actual Title of Article from Hillbuzz (shortened for FR requirements): Who Is Funding the Purchase of the $35 million Beachfront Hawaiian Estate for Barack and Michelle Obama to Move into Come January 2013?

I’ve done some more digging here in Chicago on the story we brought you on Friday about plans currently underway to purchase a $35 million beachfront estate on the island of Oahu in a part of Hawaii called “Kailua” for the Obama family to move into in January 2013 when they leave the White House.

The woman who is organizing the funding of the Obama’s post-presidential estate is Penny Pritzker , who is also in charge of raising the donations for Obama’s presidential library and museum. The two are more or less the same project, with the priority being to get the $35 million together to fund the purchase of the Obamas’ new home. It appears that Pritzker herself may contribute up to half of the total purchase price, making up the difference from whatever the Obamas could not afford and the fundraising wouldn’t cover. Pritzker is a billionaire who in recent years resolved a long-standing family feud over her late father’s vast business empire that includes the Hyatt Hotel chain as well as assorted manufacturing operations. The wealthiest families in Chicago are being leaned on heavily to contribute with Penny aggressively guilting them with “appeals of you don’t want the President to be homeless in January, do you?”. That’s more or less an exact quote from Penny, if my source within her social group is not paraphrasing.
