Mery Streep has backed Oprah Winfrey to run for President amid an outpouring of praise for her Golden Globes speech.
The actress said Oprah had 'launched a rocket' after the former talk show host accepted the Cecil B DeMille award at Sunday's Globes ceremony in Beverly Hills, California.
Fans praised the 63-year-old for delivering 'one of the greatest American speeches' while others urged her to make a run for President in 2020.
That sentiment was mirrored by Streep, 68, who said the businesswoman now 'doesn't have a choice'.
Streep, who walked the Golden Globes' red carpet hand-in-hand with justice activist Ai-jen Po, told The Washington Post: '[Oprah] launched a rocket tonight. I want her to run for president.
'I don't think she had any intention [of declaring]. But now she doesn't have a choice.'
