Why The Muslims Attacked And What Obama Knew

Political Realities ^ | 09/14/12 | LD Jackson

The Muslims have attacked our embassy in Egypt. They have attacked our embassy in Libya, killing Ambassador Stevens and three others. They are in the process of attacking our embassy in Yemen and who knows where they are attack next. All because of a stupid film trailer that was produced and published on YouTube. I watched part of the trailer a couple of nights ago and turned it off after a very short time. I found it to be ignorant and amateurish, but since still freedom of speech in America, I have the right to not watch something that someone else had the right to produce. The Muslims who have attacked our embassies and killed our people can't seem to understand that concept. I'll accept that fact and move on, as long as they understand we have the right and the obligation to defend ourselves, no matter where those attacks take place.
There is mounting evidence that the YouTube video had nothing to do with the attacks and protests that have taken place. Reports I have read lead me to believe the attacks were coordinated to happen on the anniversary of 9/11 and were no random acts of violence. This was meant to happen and even though the Obama administration continues to deny it, the evidence says otherwise.
(Fox News) A Libyan official said Thursday that the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was a planned, two-part operation that included a raid on a supposedly secret safe house -- an account that comports with what a top U.S. lawmaker told Fox News a day earlier. On Wednesday, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers told Fox News that the strike was a "coordinated, military-style" operation.
Wanis al-Sharef, eastern Libya's deputy interior minister, then said on Thursday the attacks were suspected to have been timed to mark the 9/11 anniversary and that the militants used civilians protesting an anti-Islam film as cover for their action.
Separately, Sharef offered new details about the operation behind the attack Tuesday. He said U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and another official were killed in the consulate, but that the attackers timed a second wave on the safe house just as Libyan and U.S. security forces were arriving to rescue evacuated consulate staff.
He said that second wave killed two more Americans and wounded nearly 30 Libyans and Americans.
The comments continued to contradict initial reports that the attack was a product of angry and violent protests over an anti-Islam film.
Rogers told Fox News he has "no doubt" it was a planned attack and had nothing to do with the film.
Isn't it time we dropped the charades and realized these attacks were not spontaneous protests. Senator Ben Nelson, D-FL, is asking his collegues on the Senate Intelligence Committee to investigate the high probability that the attacks were, in fact, a response by al Qaeda to the killing of Abu Yahya al-Libi. Instead, they were planned with a certain amount of military precision and were backed up with intelligence information the attackers should not have had access to. There is also every indication the attacks will grow in number and magnitude after Friday prayers. Moving on to what the Obama administration knew about the attacks, there are reports they had at least 48 hours of warning that something was about to go down in the Middle East. I found this report from The Independent via Hot Air. If it is true, it is more than a little disturbing.
According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.
The post on Hot Air has been updated to include a denial by the Obama administration.
(Politico) The Obama administration is flatly denying a blaring British newspaper report that the U.S. diplomats in Libya were killed as a result of a “continuing security breach,” and that “credible information” about possible attacks had been ignored. A U.S. official told POLITICO: “There’s no intelligence indicating that the attack in Benghazi was premeditated.”…
Shawn Turner, spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, emailed: “This is absolutely wrong. We are not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent.”
Hot Air goes on to point out that The Independent did not claim it had evidence that the consulate in Libya would be attacked. It does claim the evidence shows American missions could be targeted, in a general sense. Given the history of violence towards our embassies, wouldn't one assume tighter security measures would be in order? Why were our embassies and consulate left to the mercies of Libyan and Egyptian guards who seemed to evaporate into the crowds, once the violence started? That is a question I have yet to see an answer to. At this time, the public has no idea what the Obama administration knew of the threats, or the possibility there would be attacks on some of our missions overseas. No doubt, there is information out there, if you have the right security clearance. In other words, the people who really know the inside story about what the Obama administration knew and when they knew it aren't likely to be talking any time soon. At least, not on record.
I believe these are fair questions to ask a President, who as candidate Barack Obama, attacked both President George W. Bush and John McCain for their foreign policy. Keep in mind this happened right in the middle of the 2008 campaign. The media has had a stroke over Mitt Romney daring to question President Obama, but given that Obama used the same tactics before he became President, they should take some blood pressure medicine and calm themselves down.
In light of President Obama's previous actions, here is what I would like to know, condensed down to three pertinent questions. President Obama, what did you know about the threats that were being made against our overseas missions for the anniversary of 9/11? When did you receive this information? Why were steps not taken to prevent these threats from becoming a reality?
I'll be waiting for his answer.
