Felony charges awaiting hundreds of Inauguration Day violent rioters

American Thinker ^ | 22 Jan, 2017 | Thomas Lifson

For the last 8 years leftist thugs have gotten a pass. Early on in the Obama administration, New Black Panther storm troopers – the label is fitting because they were decked out in ominous uniforms – stood before a polling station, weapons at hand, an obvious effort at voter intimidation that drew no official action from Eric Holder’s Justice Department. In effect, open season was declared by the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, and the message was received by progressives.
Those days are over, now that Holder’s surrogate Loretta Lynch is no longer in charge at the DOJ. Even before the law-and-order new boss Jeff Sessions is confirmed:
Most of the approximately 230 protesters arrested on Inauguration Day will be charged with felony rioting, federal prosecutors said.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The office said most of those arrested will be released without having to post bail and must return to court in February.
A first group of 10 men appeared in Superior Court just before 3 p.m., and their lawyer entered a not guilty plea on their behalf. A judge released all of them on the condition they not get re-arrested in the District of Columbia.
Interim D.C. police chief Peter Newsham said Friday that 217 people were being charged with rioting.

Then they left their trash heaps for someone else to clean up.

No, Most People Don’t Need to Go to College

American Thinker ^ | January 22, 2017 | Taylor Lewis

If human nature weren’t as it is, I’d be perfectly content with tearing apart America’s educational system, root and branch, and starting over from scratch. Compulsory schooling? Gone! Federalized K-12 standards? Fini! Stafford Loans? Kaput!
But, given the fragility of such deep-seated things, I’m wont to hold back, arguing for cautious reform toward a more prudent position.
I guess that makes me a Burkean. Maybe a sucker. Perhaps both.
Anyhoo, a recent piece in the periodical National Affairs got me reconsidering why our education system is such a mess, and what it means for America’s future in the age of automated labor, eroded institutional authority, Chinese tiger moms, and vast economic anxiety.
In “The Fog of ‘College Readiness,’" Chester E. Finn, Jr., a former assistant U.S. secretary of education for research and improvement, gives a grim diagnosis of how well public schools prepare students for college. Spoiler alert: They don’t.
From the first day of kindergarten, children are told if they go through the rigor of schooling, pass the exams, get good grades, and impress all their instructors, they can matriculate to a university of their choice. Along the way, teachers, from first through twelfth grade, bolster the delusion by padding the path with grade inflation, coddling, inculcating an entitlement mentality, and outright gaming the system.
The fruits for such proactive college preparation? “[O]ur K-12 education system has never gotten more than one-third of young Americans to the ‘college-ready’ level by the end of the 12th grade,” Finn writes, deflating the great expectations of education enthusiasts.

Not A Speech For The Pundits

Blog ^ | Sunday, January 22, 2017 | Howard Galganov

MILLIONS OF WOMEN MARCH FOR WHAT? I would like to say that I don’t get it, but unfortunately I do. The Women's Marches throughout the USA and all around the Civilized World had NOTHING whatsoever to do with FEMALE RIGHTS, and everything to do with Failed Aspirations of the Women Who Marched.
NO MATTER WHAT THESE WOMEN AND MALE ACTIVISTS SAY . . . In the United States of America and in Canada – THERE ARE NO LAWS . . . preventing Women from doing anything men do within common reason.
There are NO Programs that EXCLUDE Women, where commonsense dictates that Women shouldn’t belong, like playing on the Front Line of an NFL Team. But when it comes right down to it, Women in America and Canada can reach as far and as hard as possible to grasp the BRASS RING.
What these IDIOT Women were marching for . . . had nothing to do with Equal Rights, and everything to do with wanting an UNFAIR Advantage by demanding FREE STUFF, and MORE Affirmative Action for themselves.
ANYONE READING THIS BLOG . . . can write a list of things Women do, where they're at the TOP of what they do in direct competition to Men . . . INCLUDING Medicine, Sciences, Space Exploration (Astronauts), Corporate Leadership, Academics, Military Leadership, The Entertainment Industry (Acting, Directing, Producing) Sports, Extreme Fighting, POLITICS, AND ON AND ON.

Why The Stock Market Will Romp Under Donald Trump

Forbes ^ | Jan. 22, 2017 | Larry Light, Nicholas Atkeson and Andrew Houghton

Where will the stock market go in the Trump administration? During the Obama presidency, it has advanced nicely, even amid so-so growth.

Andrew Houghton and Nicholas Atkeson of Delta Investment Management in San Francisco show us why a bullish view for the market has further to rise.

The presidential election cycle occurs every four years, no matter what is going on with the economic cycle and stock market. Barack Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009. The country had been in recession 14 months, the housing market bubble had popped over a year earlier and the S&P 500 had lost roughly 46% of its value. Since 1900, the average recession had lasted 15 months.

Trump’s Lies Pale Before Those Of Obama! ^ | January 21, 2017 | The Ripening Wanderer

There are some misguided fools in this country who will look you straight in the face and tell you that Donald Trump is a liar …. a chronic liar ….. but when the tacks are finally all posted to the bulletin board of reality I have to remind everyone who has the common sense to form a real thought rather than to parrot talking points that there is plenty of reason to be concerned about the same ( or a similar claim) about the now departed CEO of America …. Obama.
Here is one such source for anyone who has the ability to read beyond the 4th Grade level — (HERE).
Yes, I left a link —- it is that bluish purple thing that looks like the word, “Here” in parenthesis about half a paragraph ago. If you are going to learn anything from reading this blog you are going to have to have the common intelligence to actually read the links I leave and to take the time to think about what I am saying before your preconceived notions become activated and you harden your hearts and close your locked-in-thinking minds — and this is especially true if you happen to be among that pitifully mentally inadequate group I often refer to as “Radical Left Wing Liberals” or “Quasi-Socialists.”
I know that all politicians lie from time to time but it is my opinion that “The One” who just vacated the office of President probably holds some kind of record for fudging on almost everything except perhaps for his promise to “Fundamentally Transform America” which I think he accomplished fairly well.
The problem as I see it is that the “Fundamental Transformation” Obama brought to bear was not exactly what The American People had in mind and that is one of the main reasons they elected Trump.
We had “Fundamental Transformation” alright but The People obviously believe that we need a different brand of “Fundamental Transformation” and so they elected somebody who is “Different” than the Establishment Politicians and in doing so they scared themselves shitless and now they don’t know what to do except to go into the streets and protest shit that Trump hasn’t even done yet.
The protesters are protesting on the basis of suspicions and suppositions but they have nothing solid to base their displeasure on because the new President hasn’t yet done any of the things they are so afraid he might do and from where I sit that doesn’t speak too well about the kind of minds that do that kind of protesting.
Real authentic intelligence would be inclined to wait and see before spouting off at the mouth about someone they barely know anything about and before that person lifts a finger to do any of the things that give them nightmares enough to start protesting in advance of any decisions the man might make somewhere down the road.
To me that marks the epitome …. the very highest form of mass paranoia and I think it is nuts!

Requiem for a Lightweight

American Thinker ^ | January 22, 2017 | Clarence Feldman

As rioters trashed streets, smashed and burned property and attacked police just blocks from the securely cordoned off National Mall, the Inauguration of President Donald J. Trump took place. He gave a bold speech, reiterating his campaign promises. He would secure our borders, promote and protect U.S. interests, and revive an economy made moribund by the regulatory overreaching and policies of Obama and his Administration.

How refreshing it was to hear a crisp, muscular defense of our native land by a man who used “we,” not the incessant “I” and “me” of his predecessor. No more loopy faculty lounge locutions whose nice-sounding phrases papered over unconstitutional personal power grabs.
In the words of Ben Stein he’s a “shtarker,” a Yiddish word meaning a sturdy, strong man:

The NYT does not call the tune any longer. Voters get their news from a jillion sources on the Internet. The Times is a voice and a big voice. But there are a billion other voices now. And about half of the nation just does not believe Big Media any longer. They don’t buy the vicious lie that white people are all racists. They know that the Black Caucus and Black Lives Matter are real racists. They know Joe Sixpack isn’t and anyway, they don’t care.
They’re sick of being pushed around. They elected a tough guy who won’t be pushed around. He’s a shtarker and he cannot be broken in spirit by the thugs and bullies of the media.
The left will beat and beat and huff and puff. But it’s a different world now. Again… The people who elected Trump don’t remotely believe he’s a racist and they’re sick of hearing it anyway.

I will be the People's President: Trump pledges to put America first

Daily Mail ^ | 1/20/2017 | By David Martosko, Geoff Earle, Ashley Collman

Donald Trump delivered a populist rallying call to Americans who felt left behind enough to send a non-politician to do the most powerful job on earth, after he was sworn in Friday as America's 45th president.
'I will fight for you with every breath in my body,' he pledged. 'And I will never, ever let you down.'

Trump promised 'America first' would become the central organizing principle around which his government is organized.

'We will follow two simple rules. Buy American and hire American,' Trump declared.

At 1,453 words, his inaugural address was the shortest since Jimmy Carter's in 1977. His slogans were just as tight.

'America first,' a mantra that he put into common use as he campaigned for the White House, found some flesh on its bone Friday.

'Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration on foreign affairs, will be made to protect American workers and American families,' he said.

Shot Show: Kel-Tec Still at Max Capacity for PMR 30

Gun Watch ^ | 19 January, 2017 | Dean Weingarten

Making a reliable .22 magnum semi-auto has always been a challenge in the industry.  Doing so with a pistol is even more difficult.  Kel-Tec has had the most successful design with their PMR 30.  The PMR 30 has been a success for several years now.  Kel-Tec is running at top production capacity of a thousand a month out the door.  A lot of people like the idea of a 30 shot, lightweight, .22 magnum pistol.  Quite a few like the significant muzzle flash and blast.

Reports from industry insiders at the show are that most reliability problems with the PMR 30 are with magazines.  That is not surprising.  After ammunition, magazines are the most common source of problems with semi-auto pistols generally. Find a magazine or two that work with your PMR 30 and you are good to go.

The PMR 30 has a bigger sister, the CMR 30 carbine. It has been on the market a year.  It is popular, but Kel-Tec is still working up to producing a thousand a month. My understanding is that they have not hit that production point yet. Update: Toby Obermeit, Chief Engineer at Kel-Tec, says they are producing about 200 a week, and hope to double that number. The CMR 30 uses the same magazines that the PMR 30 does.

Kel-Tec also holds a patent for a short, pistol sized 33 round straight magazine for .22 long rifle.  .22 long rifle semi-auto design is well understood and simple compared to the .22 magnum.  If the market slows down with a Trump administration, and less angst about legislation, we may see a 33 rd .22 LR offered by Kel-Tec.

Billionaire and past Nazi, George Soros, Behind 50 Groups Supporting Women’s Protests Yesterday!

GP ^ | 01/22/17 | Jim Hoft

Yesterday’s liberal women’s events around the country were backed by more than 50 groups which in turn were supported by former Nazi and now current Democrat financier George Soros.

The march was led by the following four co-chairs:
Tamika D. Mallory, whose bio says she “has worked closely with the Obama Administration as an advocate for civil rights issues, equal rights for women, health care, gun violence, and police misconduct.” She also served on the transition committee of NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Carmen Perez, who served as the executive director of Belafonte’s Soros-financed The Gathering for Justice.
Linda Sarsour, a self-described “Brooklyn-born Palestinian-American-Muslim racial justice and civil rights activist,” who serves as “the Executive Director of the Arab American Association of New York, co-founder of Muslims for Ferguson, and a member of Justice League NYC,” her march bio relates.
Bob Bland, the CEO and founder of Manufacture New York (MNY), which his bio describes as “a social enterprise that is rethinking the fashion ecosystem (design, development, distribution) and creating a new, vertically-integrated business model that will transform apparel & textile production for the 21st century.”
The protests did not allow women supporting right to life to join them but they joined Linda Sarsour who has connections with CAIR and the terrorist group Hamas.

Trump defied the polls, press and pundits to win White House!

NYPost ^ | Michael Goodwin

Two images bookend the most remarkable political contest of modern times. In the first, Donald Trump rides an escalator down to the lobby of Trump Tower to announce his fanciful campaign for president. In the second, Election Night maps on television screens flash red as 30 states fall like dominoes into Trump’s column.

Just 17 months elapsed between those unforgettable moments, yet that span stands as an epoch unto itself in the history of America. We were eyewitnesses to a revolution, a rising up of people who felt shunned, betrayed and left behind. They called themselves “deplorables and irredeemables,” turning Hillary Clinton’s slurs into a rallying cry as they threw off the yoke of the old political order and trusted the nation to a true outsider.

The Muslim Veil, not pink pussy cap was the real symbol behind Big Women’s MARCH

Canada Free Press ^ | 01/22/17 | Judi McLeod

Meanwhile the ideal should not be “almost” feeling sorry for them, but organizing a strong resistance to protect America from a Muslim president, forced upon it by the hidden agenda of a so-called Big Women’s March Movement

Despite the sea of pink pussy caps seen on worldwide streets during the Big Women’s’ March yesterday, the pink cap was not the real symbol of the march—the Muslim veil was.

The Muslim veil and a hijab made out of the highly revered American flag were the real symbols of the day.

There was one march organizer far more worrisome than Mama Michael Moore, the blow-the-White-House-up wishing, F-bomb spewing Madonna, or any of the other screaming meemies out on the streets, who, in the grander scheme of things, were only the bit players.

Hating America Through Anti-Trump Movement

Canada Free Press ^ | 01/22/17 | Douglas V. Gibbs

They are like the bully in the schoolyard lashing out against everyone because he has gotten to the point that he believes his own bull, and is so corrupt he could cheat at solitaire and not understand how it could possibly be cheating

Tools. Mindless and obedient automatons. Those are the most accurate words that come to mind when it comes to the foaming-at-the-mouth liberal left hysteria movement following the election and inauguration of President Donald J. Trump. The liberal left loons believe the ridiculous and obviously erroneous propaganda being spouted by the liberal media, Democrat politicians, and completely out-of-their-mind entertainment lefties, and like good little minions the Hillary Clinton supporting screaming-heads are acting out in a violent and vulgar manner against the election and inauguration of President Donald J. Trump. In truth, they remind me more of petulant children who didn’t get their way because a knowing parent who understands the folly of their demands decided otherwise, than they do of anyone with any common sense or common decency.

@NOAA data demonstrates that 2016 was not the ‘hottest year ever’ in the USA

WUWT ^ | 19 Jan 2017 | Anthony Watts

I’m truly surprised they didn’t add an exclamation point too. (h/t to Ken Caldiera for the photo)
Much of that “record heat” is based on interpolation of data in the Arctic, such as BEST has done. For example:
But in reality, there’s just not much data at the poles, there is no permanent thermometers at the North pole, since sea ice drifts, is unstable, and melts in the summer as it has for millennia. Weather stations can’t be permanent in the Arctic ocean. So, the data is often interpolated from the nearest land-based thermometers.
To show this, look at how NASA GISS shows data with and without data interpolation to the North pole:

WITH 1200 kilometer interpolation:

WITHOUT 1200 kilometer interpolation:

Here is the polar view:

WITH 1200 kilometer interpolation:

WITHOUT 1200 kilometer interpolation:

Grey areas in the maps indicate missing data.
What a difference that interpolation makes.
So you can see that much of the claims of “global record heat” hinge on interpolating the Arctic temperature data where there is none. For example, look at this map of Global Historical Climatological Network (GHCN) coverage:
As for the Continental USA, which has fantastically dense thermometer coverage as seen above, we were not even close to a record year according to NOAA’s own data. Annotations mine on the NOAA generated image:

  • NOAA National Centers for Environmental information, Climate at a Glance: U.S. Time Series, Average Temperature, published January 2017, retrieved on January 19, 2017 from
That plot was done using NOAA’s own plotter, which you can replicate using the link above. Note that 2012 was warmer than 2016, when we had the last big El Niño. That’s using all of the thermometers in the USA that NOAA manages and utilizes, both good and bad.
What happens if we select the state-of-the-art pristine U.S. Climate Reference Network data?
Same answer – 2016 was not a record warm year in the USA, 2012 was:
Interestingly enough, if we plot the monthly USCRN data, we see that sharp cooling in the last datapoint which goes below the zero anomaly line:
Cool times ahead!
Added: In the USCRN annual (January to December) graph above, note that the last three years in the USA were not record high temperature years either.
Added2: AndyG55 adds this analysis and graph in comments
When we graph USCRN with RSS and UAH over the US, we see that USCRN responds slightly more to warming surges.
As it is, the trends for all are basically identical and basically ZERO. (USCRN trend was exactly parallel and with RSS and UAH (all zero trend) before the slight El Nino surge starting mid 2015 )

Obama Was First President to Spend More on Welfare Than Defense!

Cybercast News Service ^ | January 20, 2017 | 2:52 PM EST | Terence P. Jeffrey

Barack Obama was the first president of the United States to spend more on “means-tested entitlements”—AKA welfare—than on national defense, according to data published by his own Office of Management and Budget.

Historical tables that the OMB posted on the Obama White House website, include annual totals for both “national defense” spending and “means-tested entitlement” spending going back to fiscal 1962—which is three years before President Lyndon Johnson signed legislation creating the Medicaid program, a means-tested entitlement that together with the Children’s Health Insurance Program enrolled 74,407,191 beneficiaries as of November 2016.

In every year from fiscal 1962 through fiscal 2014, total national defense spending exceeded means-tested entitlement spending. …

Fox News Declines to Renew George Will’s Contract!

Fox News has decided not to renew political commentator George Will’s contract.

Will, 75, is a Washington Post columnist who has been with Fox since 2013 and was with ABC from 1981-2011, the Hill reported.

Will left the Republican Party in June 2016 over President Donald Trump’s candidacy, after Trump secured the Republican nomination for the presidency.

“This is not my party,” Will said at a Federalist Society luncheon. “Make sure he loses. Grit their teeth for four years and win the White House”
Trump responded, saying Will was an “overrated” political pundit who has “made many bad calls...”

Trump White House tells agencies to halt regulations!

The Hill ^ | 1/20/2017 | Lydia Wheeler

President Trump's chief of staff, Reince Priebus, issued a memo Friday night telling federal agencies to not issue any more regulations.
Hours after his boss was sworn into office, Priebus told the agencies not to send any regulation to the Federal Register until the rule is reviewed and approved by the new president's appointed agency head.
Any rule that’s already been sent to the Office of the Federal Register but not yet published must be withdrawn, the order says. For rules that were published in the last 60 days, Priebus told agencies to publish a notice to delay the effective date of the rule for at least another 60 days.

Majority of 230 protesters arrested on Inauguration Day will face 10 years in prison and $25k fine! (outstanding)

Daily Mail ^ | 01/21/17 | Anna Hopkins

Most of the 230 rioters arrested after violent protests erupted in Washington D.C. following Donald Trump's inauguration will be charged with felony rioting, federal prosecutors said on Saturday.
The charge carries a punishment of up to ten years in jail and a $25,000 fine.
Thousand of protesters launched a violent rampage just blocks away from the White House as anti-Trump demonstrators smashed store windows, set fire to cars and threw bricks at police.
Many of those arrested are due to appear in court on Saturday, according to WUSA 9.
Heated clashes broke out in McPherson Square and along K Street as hundreds of riot police fired tear gas and drew their nightsticks to contain the masked mob.
As the rioting unfolded, Trump and his family were arriving at a review stand at the White House to see the end of the inaugural parade.
Militant anti-Trump protesters gave a foretaste of what could follow during the violent outbreaks, which has so far seen 217 people arrested and at least six police officers injured.

Nancy Sinatra slams CNN for anti-Trump spin on story about her humorous tweet

Fox news ^ | January 20, 2017

Nancy Sinatra had some strong words for CNN after the news outlet published an article on its website with the headline “Nancy Sinatra not happy Trump using father's song at inauguration.” News broke this week that President-elect Donald Trump and his wife Melania will dance to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” as their first dance at the Liberty Ball on Friday. CNN quoted what seems to be a now-deleted tweet from Nancy Sinatra that read “Just remember the first line of the song” in response to a question about her father’s song being used during the inauguration. The first line of “My Way” is "And now, the end is near." Sinatra was not happy with CNN’s story. She tweeted a link to the article and replied, “That's not true. I never said that. Why do you lie, CNN?”
