A beleaguered Angela Merkel got unexpected A-list backing for her controversial refugee policy yesterday (FRI) in the shape of actor George Clooney and his wife, Amal. “Germany is taking on a great responsibility; it’s very difficult politically for her,” Mr Clooney told reporters ahead of the meeting, adding:“I absolutely agree with her”.
