GOP foolish to think ObamaCare is fixable

NY Post ^ | April 30, 2014 | 10:37pm | By Betsy McCaughey

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), the No. 4 House Republican, is walking back comments attributed to her that ObamaCare can’t be repealed. But she’s not the only one suggesting Congress merely make changes within the framework of the health law. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says the goal is to get the law “fixed.” It seems many GOP lawmakers still haven’t read the law, or they’d know the framework is corrupt.Even Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) speculated Friday that repeal is unlikely because it will be “difficult to turn the clock back.”

Train derailment highlights oil-transportation issues [So what might solve that problem?]

Hotair ^ | 05/01/2014 | Ed Morrissey

A train derailment in Lynchburg, Virginia dumped as much as 50,000 gallons of oil, the latest such rail disaster in a recent series. Thus far, the spill doesn’t pose a safety issue for local water use, as the river into which the rail cars tumbled is only used as a drought resource. CBS News raises the point that the safety of oil transport by rail has become a serious problem, and that the federal government has thus far acted slowly to respond to it:
Concern about the safety of oil trains was heightened last July when runaway oil train derailed and exploded in Lac-Megantic, Quebec, near the Maine border. Forty-seven people died and 30 buildings were incinerated. Canadian investigators said the combustibility of the 1.3 million gallons of light, sweet Bakken crude released in Lac-Megantic was comparable to gasoline.
“This is another national wake-up call,” said Jim Hall, a former NTSB chairman said of the Lynchburg crash. “We have these oil trains moving all across the United States through communities and the growth and distribution of this has all occurred, unfortunately, while the federal regulators have been asleep.”“This is just an area in which the federal rulemaking process is too slow to protect the American people,” he said. There have been eight significant oil train accidents in the U.S. and Canada in the past year involving trains hauling crude oil, including several that resulted in spectacular fires, according to the safety board.
This has become an issue, although more in the Midwest and Plains states. The product of the Bakken field has to get shipped by rail to refineries in the South, which has also involved a series of rail accidents. The federal government and the railroad industry reached an accord on new voluntary measures to reduce oil-related rail accidents in February, but these either didn’t get implemented in time, or don’t address the cause of the Lynchburg failure (which may have been storm-weakened soil under the tracks). There are really only two ways to address oil-transport issues. Either we need to build new refineries closer to production, or we need pipelines rather than rail for transport. The US has barely budged on new refineries over the last 30-plus years, and the regulatory hurdles for building new plants — even though demand would support it — makes this option nearly impossible. That leaves us with pipelines, and this administration has used the regulatory hurdles on the Keystone XL pipeline to indefinitely stall the project. They may kill it to appease their allies in the environmental movement. That won’t stop us from producing and moving oil, however, even if that’s the real goal of the environmentalists blocking refinery and pipeline projects. It just means that we’ll continue to do so in the least-safe manner.

Ted Cruz — Leading A Grassroots Tsunami

Rightwing News/ ^ | May 1, 2014 | Terresa Monroe-Hamilton
Ted Cruz is simply brilliant. His Tortilla Coast meetings are driving the RINOs insane — they are practically wetting themselves over it. When I saw the writeup at The Hill, it definitely gave me a happy. Irony is a lost art form wasted on these bastards. They have labeled Cruz an ‘agitator,’ because he’s against John Boehner. Who isn’t these days? That’s not a Progressive that is. Au contraire (for our French Republican RINOs), he’s a true leader with a spine a mile long. I know, I know… that is foreign to you asshats, but get used to it. The Tea Party is here to stay and Ted Cruz is leading the way. Just because you seem to not be sporting a pair and prefer to play le femme chic, doesn’t mean there aren’t real conservative warriors out there that are more than willing to knock you down and replace you with real leadership.

The Coming Two-Tier Health System

Wall St. Journal ^ | April 30, 2014 | Scott W. Atlas
ObamaCare is already creating one class of care for the poor and middle class and another for the affluent. One will be for the poor and middle class, and a separate system will be for those with the money or power to circumvent ObamaCare. The hidden truth is just around the corner—those more dependent on public insurance, mostly the poor and middle class, will have limited access to medical care. About one-third of primary-care physicians and one-fourth of specialists have already completely closed their practices to Medicaid patients. Over 52% of physicians have already limited the access that Medicare patients have to their practices, or are planning to, according to a 2012 survey by Merritt Hawkins for the Physicians Foundation. More doctors than ever already refuse Medicaid and Medicare due to inadequate payments for care, and that trend will only accelerate as government lowers reimbursements. At the same time, ObamaCare is squeezing out the middle class from affordable private insurance that correlates with far better disease outcomes than government insurance. By bloating coverage requirements and minimizing the consideration of risks fundamental to pricing insurance, the law has already increased premiums by 20%-200% in more than 40 states, according to a 2013 analysis by the Manhattan Institute's Avik Roy and others.

After Right-To-Work, 80% of Mich. Health-Care Workers Desert Union!

Daily Caller ^ | 04/30/2014 | Robby Soave
Having won the right to decide for themselves whether to join unions, Michigan workers are opting to desert an organization that many never wanted to join in the first place: the SEIU.  Michigan voters put an end to forced unionization by approving right-to-work in the 2012 election. Republican Gov. Rick Snyder also signed a bill that ended a fraudulent dues-skimming scheme, perpetrated by the SEIU, which had allowed the union to collect $34 million in mandatory dues out of the Medicaid checks of unknowing home-based caregivers. No longer obligated to pay money to the SEIU, 80 percent of home-based caregivers have left the union

Gaslighting: a form of mental abuse in which false information is presented with the intent of making a victim doubt his or her own memory, perception and sanity!

by GraceG
According to wiki, Gaslighting is defined as: Gaslighting is a form of mental abuse in which false information is presented with the intent of making a victim doubt his or her own memory, perception and sanity.  Instances may range simply from the denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents ever occurred, up to the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim.  How does this relate to Benghazi and the Media Coverage of it and what the White house released concerning it?  Well let's break this down a bit shall we:  "false information is presented with the intent of making a victim doubt his or her own memory, perception and sanity. " Hmm, sounds a LOT like the practical application of the "Offensive YouTube Video" narritive that Suan Rice and the rest of the Administration fed to everyone that the MSM eagerly picked up like mangy dogs begging fro scraps of meat from a butcher shop. Next One: "Instances may range simply from the denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents ever occurred" Doesn't this specifically sound like the Narritive that the media and White House started after Hillary's "What difference does it make" screeching on capital hill? The media went into full crazy mode by saying that any one who still belived in Benghazi was kook and/or conspiracy theorist. And Finally: "up to the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim." Bizarre events, this reminds me of what happened soon after Benghazi when hillary was telling one of the victim's relatives that they would go after whomever made the YouTube video. That was simply bizarre, not to mention all the weird crap the white house has done since then to seeming distract from the issue.

Clinton appointed federal judge strikes a blow for continuing voter fraud in Wisconsin!

Coach is Right ^ | 5/1/14 | Kevin "Coach" Collins
On Tuesday Bill Clinton was able to help perpetuate Democrat voter fraud through a ruling from Federal Judge Lynn Adelman. Adelman, who has been a Democrat State Senator, was lauded by the American Civil Liberties Union for his ruling which is based on tortured logic. In making his decision Adelman indicated that he didn’t see a Democrat voter fraud problem in Wisconsin so there was no need for a law against it. By taking this position this sleazy fake jurist ruled that Wisconsin could not act proactively to prevent a crime that, in his view, only happens elsewhere if at all. In essence he said the growing instances of Democrat voter fraud around the country are not enough proof that...

Rep. Darrell Issa: “The American People Have Learned You Cannot Believe This White House!

The Gatweway Punidt ^ | 5/1/14 | Jim Hoft
House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) blasted the Obama administration Thursday on Benghazi. The Obama administration misled the American people on Benghazi massacre blaming the attack on a YouTube video rather than terrorism. The White House crafted talking points blaming the video despite having knowledge that this was a planned terrorist attack on the US consulate. Chairman Darrell Issa: “It is disturbing and perhaps criminal that documents like these were hidden by the Obama administration from Congress and the public alike… The Americans who lost their lives in Benghazi, those who were wounded, and the American people deserve nothing less. So today’s hearing is critical for what our witnesses will give us. And, I welcome you and I thank you for being here. But it comes in a week in which the American people have learned that you cannot believe what the White House says. You cannot believe what the spokespeople say. You cannot believe what the president says. And the facts are coming out that in fact that this administration has knowingly withheld documents pursuant to Congressional subpoenas in violation of any reasonable transparency or historic precedent at least since Richard Millhouse Nixon.
