We are all Phil Robinson now

Washington Times Communities ^ | 12/21/2013 | Jennifer Kerns

WASHINGTON, December 21, 2013 — With the onslaught of the media scandal involving Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson, it’s become crystal clear to me that the Progressive left has turned America into a veritable nation of sheep. We are intimidated into keeping our mouths shut and sitting idly by while the media mafia trample our precious First Amendment rights. I’m not simply jumping on the bandwagon of this latest scandal. I’ve walked a mile in Phil Robertson’s boots. I’m not just talking the talk. I have walked the walk. Five years ago, I was the spokesperson for the landmark, controversial Prop. 8, and I endured the full gamut of the backlash that Phil Robertson is enduring now. The attacks came in all forms: accusations of bigotry, hate speech, even death threats. You name it, I received it. The only difference between Phil Robertson and me — well, other than the beard — is that conservative blogs which exist to defend Phil Robertson today didn’t exist back then. There was no such thing as Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze, or Michelle Malkin’s Twitchy. Even Twitter was just a glimmer in Jack Dorsey’s eye. It was a lonely journey, and those of us who worked hard to pass Prop. 8 were pioneers, of sorts, on this journey. Perhaps even more forcefully than Robertson is being told by A&E today, we were informed would never work again if we helped the passage of the marriage protection initiative. As the spokesperson for Prop. 8, I was warned numerous times that if I became too synonymous with supporting traditional values and traditional marriage, hence being seen as being anti-gay, that I would “never work in this town again.”

The Late, Great American WASP ('bout time somebody said it)

Wall Street Journal ^ | 12/20/13 | JOSEPH EPSTEIN

The U.S. once had an unofficial but nonetheless genuine ruling class, drawn from what came to be known as the WASP establishment. Members of this establishment dominated politics, economics and education, but they do so no longer. The WASPocracy, as I think of it, lost its confidence and, with it, the power and interest to lead. We are now without a ruling class, unless one includes the entity that has come to be known as the meritocracy—presumably an aristocracy of sheer intelligence, men and women trained in the nation's most prestigious schools.
The acronym WASP derives, of course, from White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, but as acronyms go, this one is more deficient than most. Lots of people, including powerful figures and some presidents, have been white, Anglo-Saxon and Protestant but were far from being WASPs. Neither Jimmy Carter nor Bill Clinton qualified.
-- SNIP--
WASP life, though, was chiefly found on the eastern seaboard. WASPs had their own social clubs and did business with a small number of select investment and legal firms, such as Brown Brothers Harriman and Sullivan & Cromwell. Many lived on inherited money, soundly invested.
-- SNIP--
The late 1960s put the first serious dent into the WASPs as untitled aristocrats and national leaders. For protesters of that generation, the word WASP didn't come into play so much as the word Establishment, heretofore chiefly an ecclesiastical term. The Establishment was the protesters' enemy and target. The Establishment was thought to have sent the country into Vietnam; it was perfectly content with the status quo, with all its restrictions on freedom and tolerance for unjust social arrangements; it stood for all that was uptight and generally repressive in American culture.

Thou shalt not insult politically correct religions, cultures or desires!

Dan Miller's Blog ^ | December 23, 2013 | Dan Miller

Editor’s note:
This is a guest post by my (imaginary) friend, the Very Honorable Ima Librul, Senator from the great State of Confusion Utopia. He is a founding member of CCCEB (Climate Change Causes Everything Bad), a charter member of President Obama’s Go For it Team, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Chairperson of both the Islamic Relations and Meretricious Relations Subcommittees. He is also justly proud of his expertise in the care and breeding of unicorns, for which his Save the Unicorns Foundation has received substantial Federal grants.

We are honored to have a post of this caliber by a quintessential Librul such as the Senator. Without further delay, here is the Senator’s article.

* * * * * * * * * *

As Obamamas approaches, we must remember that Obama so loved America that He resolved to transform her in His own image.
ObamaCare Pigs
Reading a reactionary article at PJ Media titled Why Transform shocked me to my common core. The first paragraph tells all:

When I heard Barack Obama exulting in the fundamental transformation of America that he promised to bring about in his 2008 speech at the University of Missouri, I was dumbfounded. Why, I thought, would anyone want to transform the most dynamic and successful nation on the face of the planet? Improve it gradually and intelligently through what philosopher Karl Popper in The Open Society and Its Enemies called “piecemeal social legislation,” certainly. Seek to strengthen its position in the world, to guarantee its security, and to stimulate a free market economy, with moderate safeguards but without undue and heavy-handed interference, absolutely. But to steer it in a direction that would render it similar to Europe’s increasingly defunct socialist polities or, for that matter, that would resemble my own country, Canada, with its onerous cost of living, high taxation (with a disproportionate tranche falling on the middle class), faltering institutions and intrusive legislation — no way. Americans did not seem to realize how fortunate they were, and some of my American correspondents have indicated that they are beginning to look north for a template to follow. They should look again. [Emphasis added.]
Please do read the entire attempted indictment of social justice, equality and all that we cherish. It's more than enough to send shivers up one's spine. We can be grateful that, as ObamaCare takes over health control care, even fewer will still have those useless relics of a dying age.
President Obama came among us, not as another politician but as our one and only true savior.

Obama Banard College REV
The Truth is with Him and He can do no wrong.
The entire world, including the Unified State of Obama under His benign guidance, is embracing change that we must can believe in. It is our duty to help Him lead the way so that we can, for the very first time, be proud that we are not exceptional. To be exceptional is to be different in politically incorrect ways, thereby giving horrible examples to the world and moving away from true peace on Earth through benign librul rejoicing at the diversity of (only) entitled religious and other groups.
Supporting traditional values, particularly those spewed many years ago by now long dead White males -- many of them slave owners --  would lead to making us exceptional again. We must reject all of the traditional notions, values and beliefs upon which they sought to establish what they maliciously decided to characterize as a more perfect form of governance. We now have our savior, President Obama, and have no need for them, if we ever did.
Islam is the Religion of True Peace through submission, and for true peace we must submit to the views of our betters, particularly President Obama. He has wisely espoused this brave concept and we must follow Him as He shows us the way to perfect political correctness. To do so, we must reject all notions urged upon us by such racist terrorists as Pat Condell.

We must embrace politically correct diversity because the good diverse ones demand the most basic of all librul human rights, that of not being offended (quite properly only for themselves).
George Will recently said,

the new biggest American entitlement is the entitlement to go through life without being offended. People think they have a right not to have their feelings hurt, not to have their sensibilities in any way exacerbated. I'd refer them to Jefferson who said, it does me no harm if my neighbor believes in 20 gods or one god, it neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg. We have forked for millennia to get to a point where we say the law will protect our possessions and our persons, but not our feelings and people just have to get over it. [Emphasis added.]
Rubbish! The right not to be offended, and the corollary duty of the unacceptably diverse not to offend, are the most important aspects of our brave new culture. As we move forward, we will enact more laws criminalizing all speech by unprotected people and groups offensive to protected people and groups. Mr. Will is not Obama-like and so has no sense of how life needs to be in our transformed Unified State of Obama where proper tolerance shall prevail.
Librul tolerance
There is clearly a basic human right not to be labeled biblically non-compliant by ignorant Christians. It matters not whether those so disparaged care about biblical compliance; it's a grievous and offensive insult regardless and must not be tolerated. Period. How about the Jews? Those who side with President Obama against the wicked Zionists are probably OK, but the Islamophobic others? They are no less wicked than Bible-bashing Christians, so a pox upon them all!
Duck Dynasty
Similarly, we must reject all disparagments of the Religion of Piece Peace. This attack on the beauties of Islam insults the Prophet and His followers and is therefore abhorent regardless of any facts it may contain. It does not matter in the least that peaceful Muslims daily hurl insults, rocks, missiles, etc. at violent non-Islamists; politically incorrect, they deserve them.

Besides robbing caravans in the Arabian Peninsula and being a brutal warlord who ordered many people to be killed,Muhammad’s marriages and sex life leave much to be desired. For example: There are deep and concerning roots of paedophilia within Islam as described in this article from ‘Islam Watch’ here.
So what? It's their way, it's gloriously diverse in politically correct fashion, it's good and we must not say bad things about them. President Obama is greatly displeased with those who do.
Obama Clinton and Muslim Brotherhood
Here's another vile anti-diversity video:
Video link<.a>
For shame, Mr. Klavan, for shame! As Obamamas approaches and as we come together to worship Him, repent! Embrace politically correct diversity, even if only for the sake of President Obama. Otherwise, we will have you jailed as soon as we are able.
Editor's comments: I don't know where America is going or whether it's already too late to reverse the trend. Victor Davis Hanson had a good post today at Pajamas Media PJ Media titled Pajama Boy Nation.
Pajama boy
It starts with this:
Will Kane of High Noon Pajama Boy wasn’t. Somehow we as a nation went from the iconic Marlboro Man to Pajama Boy — from the noble individual with a bad habit to the ignoble without a good habit — without a blink in between. There are lots of revolting things in the Pajama Boy ad. After all, how can you top all at once a nerdy-looking child-man dressed in infantile pajamas while cradling a cup of hot chocolate with the smug assurance that he is running your life more than you his?
And ends with this.

We accept that the law is mostly fluid, depending on whether you are one of the noble suffering or the bad and incessantly grasping: sanctuary cities are noble places where federal immigration laws can be safely ignored. Try that with the Second Amendment and you’ll be summarily jailed. There is a growing tiredness with Pajama Boy nation. Millions are sick of being lectured, caricatured, and slandered for their supposed pathologies by the Sandra Flukes of the age and those in their pajamas who still grasp with two hands their hot chocolate. Add all their annoying Stalinist efforts up — to selectively going after Chick-fil-A or the Washington Redskins or Duck Dynasty — and the public is becoming tired of the shrill nerdocracy. [Emphasis added.] How many are revolting against Pajama Boy nation and his bunch, no one quite knows. But I’m beginning to think for the first time since 2009 that the rage and numbers of the disengaged have not crested yet, not quite yet.
There is at least a bit of hope there for our future. The stuff between the beginning and the end is good as well. Please read it.
Islam is peaceful
We still seem to be getting dangerously close to making the librul hopes of Senator Ima Librul and others like him our sad reality. Speaking accurately about the nature, aspirations and threats of the malignant cancer of Islam may become unlawful in the United States; some western nations have already done that. We must oppose that and all similar steps in the United States,

♦ Directed against those who say that homosexual conduct is contrary to biblical teachings;

♦ Directed against those who accurately characterize race-based physical assaults on and murder of others as racist;

♦ Directed against those who accurately describe women who fabricate tales of rape; and/or

♦ Directed against those who oppose President Obama's continuing efforts to transform America in His image.
The transformation He seeks would not give us peace; it would merely give us subjugation to the will of our self-proclaimed "betters." If we fail to act soon it may well become too late.
Waiting inertly for something good to happen? Please remember to have a Happy Obamamas celebration with your friends! Make discussions of the joys of ObamaCare the focus of Obamamas dinner. All good libruls do because it pleases the Great One.

Court warns Obama that he is abusing Executive authority with ObamaCare contraception mandates

Coach is Right ^ | 12/23/13 | Doug Book

Two months ago, the DC Federal Appeals Court ruled that ObamaCare’s mandate to provide insurance coverage for contraceptives could not be imposed on the business organizations Freshway Foods and Freshway Logistics of Sidney, Ohio. The Court ruled that “…forcing those owners to provide the coverage would violate their individual First Amendment rights allowing for the protection of their religion.” (1)
Then, on December 16th, Judge Brian Cogan made his U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York “…the first court to hold that participating in Obama’s scheme to provide free birth control is a substantial burden on the free practice of religion…” (2) Not only did Cogan strike down Obamacare’s contraception mandate as applied to religious non-profit organizations, he also “…sent a strong signal that federal courts were losing patience with President Obama’s many stitches of executive power.” (2)
Prior to the December 16th ruling, administration attorneys argued that because Congress refused to institute a contraception mandate which satisfied White House demands, Obama was somehow “…authorized to...

In Case You Missed It Dept.

President Obama got photographed flirting with Denmark's blonde prime minister in front of Michelle at Mandela's memorial Tuesday. It was a close call. He only avoided being knocked cold by reminding Michelle how high their deductible is under Obamacare.

President Obama eulogized Mandela Tuesday while a fake deaf-sign language translator stood next to him onstage relaying gibberish to the crowd. A star is born. After the ceremony he was apprehended by the Secret Service and appointed Signing Czar by President Obama.

President Obama shook hands with Raul Castro Thursday at the memorial service in South Africa and ignited a firestorm in doing so. It took a lot of nerve. He's got scores of untried prisoners rotting away in Cuban jail cells, and Raul Castro's got the same problem.

President Obama lit the National Christmas Tree in a reverential but joyful way last weekend. Every U.S. president has his own approach toward religion. Bill Clinton came to Jesus, George W. Bush talked to Jesus and Barack Obama fills in for Jesus on major holidays.

North Korea's dictator Kim Jung Un reportedly ordered his uncle executed on Friday for drunken behavior and womanizing. It was good news for President Obama. After hearing what happened in North Korea his Uncle Omar has decided to move back to Kenya.

The White House asked insurance companies to extend the deadline for Obamacare policyholder payments to assure coverage. The chaos is frightening. A year ago they said you can keep your health care plan, and today they're saying don't get sick in January.

PolitiFact gave Barack Obama its Lie of the Year award for saying last year Obamacare lets you keep your health care plan. It's no surprise. Everybody knows it's useless to hold a man responsible for anything he says while he is drunk, in love or running for office.

President Obama's approval rating fell to thirty-eight percent Friday while Toronto mayor Rob Ford's approval rating soared to fifty percent. The conclusion is plain to see. President Obama would have been better off smoking crack than passing Obamacare.

The White House launched a half-billion dollar ad campaign to get people to enroll in Obamacare. Polls show the administration is losing the battle of perception. The White House sees Obamacare as a giant pill, while the people see it as a giant suppository.

North Korea announced Monday that Dennis Rodman agreed to coach North Korea's Olympic basketball team. He's treated like royalty when he visits Pyongyang. To this day, no one in North Korea has the nerve to tell Kim Jung Un that he isn't President Obama.

Harvard's poll says only one-fifth of Millennials will enroll in Obamacare. They say they don't like being questioned online by insurers about their sex lives. Nobody wants to reveal the intimate details of their love life and then have to listen to the NSA deliver the rebuttal.

President Obama was advised in a review Wednesday to order the NSA to stop data-mining phone calls of citizens of foreign countries. Mexico is furious about the practice. It's not enough that we're spying on U.S. citizens but we're also spying on future U.S. citizens.

China's government successfully made a soft landing on the moon with a space craft Friday, setting off Chinese national pride and celebration. Americans could only smile wistfully. It harkened back to the days when the U.S. government could get a website to work.

Barbara Walters blasted Obamacare Tuesday, saying Barack Obama did not turn out to be the Messiah. The lesson is still strikingly similar. Jesus also got crucified when he healed the sick and he didn't charge the sick five hundred-dollar monthly premiums for it.

Could it be?

The IRS and the Tea Party (Resist the IRS — and protect the political process)

National Review ^ | 12/23/2013 | James V. DeLong

The principle involved in the recent IRS scandal appears to be that every group with an interest in twisting the electoral process to its own advantage is exempted; only those groups that stand for disinterested good government are muzzled.
The IRS recently proposed rules to “provide guidance” to tax-exempt “social welfare” organizations concerning restrictions on their political activities. As Kimberly Strassel noted in the Wall Street Journal, this notice represents the IRS’s response to the revelations about its use of the tax laws to hamstring tea-party groups before the 2012 election.
The new rules are designed to eliminate the citizen groups before the 2014 election. They would have the effect of squelching tea-party communications with the public “referring to” a candidate or party, with especially tough restrictions during the run-up to an election. The blacklist applies to “direct or indirect candidate-related political activity.” Covered activities include direct funding, volunteer work, sponsorship of debates, preparation of voter guides, website maintenance, e-mail or social-media campaigns, and registration drives. If an unspecified, but too-large, portion of a group’s activities falls within the definitions, its tax-exempt status is jeopardized.
The proposal does not apply to political activities conducted by unions, business organizations, agricultural associations, or similar entities. Nor does it apply to charities, which are supposed to be more stringently regulated than social-welfare organizations, but which frequently push the envelope. And as salt in the wound, the K Street lobbyists’ social-welfare groups, which serve as go-betweens and bagmen for lobbyists and government officials but do not communicate with the public, would also be untouched. Washington organizations with broad membership out in the nation at large would, however, be stifled along with the tea-party groups.

The IRS rules might not survive legal scrutiny, but this is irrelevant. Once final, the rules would be applied retroactively, so the IRS can leave them in the “proposed” stage until after November 2014, which makes them unreviewable by a court even as they paralyze the citizen groups. The IRS could also start applying the new standards immediately by requiring that organizations requesting tax-exempt status promise to abide by them.
To understand how this perverse state of affairs came about, and to develop a strategy of resistance, one must start with the core principle that the Internal Revenue Code is supposed to be about government revenue. Therefore, it focuses on moneymaking commercial activities. However, tax law must also deal with the reality that millions of entities in U.S. civil society are not commercial, and indeed it has done so since 1913, in Title 26, Subtitle A, Chapter 1, Subchapter F, “Exempt Organizations.”
The core of Subchapter F is section 501, which has dozens of subparts listing various types of non-commercial groups. The list is eye-glazing, but it’s necessary to an understanding of the context of the current dispute, because it shows the breadth of Congress’s view of exempt activities:
Government corporations; Foundation[s] organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, or educational purposes, or to foster national or international amateur sports competition; Civic leagues or organizations; Local associations of employees; Labor, agricultural, or horticultural organizations; Business leagues, chambers of commerce, real-estate boards, boards of trade, or professional football leagues; Fraternal beneficiary societies; Cemetery companies;
and so on through 29 subsections, plus numerous definitions and qualifications.
These entities are declared tax exempt in the sense that any excess of revenues over expenses, which is usually minimal or nonexistent, is not subjected to the income tax; and they file a special form designed for nonprofits instead of the standard corporate tax returns.
For the most part, individual taxpayers cannot deduct contributions to these groups from personal income taxes. That privilege is reserved for donations to the subset of organizations that qualify as charities or foundations under section 501(c)(3). These are more stringently regulated than other entities to prevent their being used as tax dodges, and 501(c)(3) contains explicit prohibitions on political activities by organizations claiming the benefits of the subsection.
This distinction between the 501(c)(3) charities and other exempt organizations is very important, but often ignored. None of the subsections describing other types of exempt groups contain anything like the prohibition on political activity that is found in 501(c)(3), except for a provision governing co-op health insurers that was added by Obamacare.

ObamaCare New Year Day's Surprise - Deep Cuts to Medicare Home Health!

Political Realities ^ | 12/23/13 | LD Jackson

This is a story that has caught very little attention, but needs to be circulated as wide as possible. The world of government-managed health care is about to get very ugly for millions of senior citizens who rely on Medicare for their coverage. Quietly announced on the day after Thanksgiving, the Obama administration has decided to cut Medicare home health benefits to the tune of 14% between 2014 and 2017. Some of America's most vulnerable citizens are under attack from a liberal administration who is determined to have its way with our health care system.
What does this mean for the companies that provide home health services and the senior citizens who depend on those services to stay out of nursing homes? The outlook is bleak and unpleasant.
Amac - The Administration made this announcement very quietly, waiting to do so until the very end of the last Friday before Thanksgiving, perhaps thinking that most people would not be looking. To be sure, the timing of the Administration’s quiet announcement did keep it out of sight – for a while.  That ended on December 12th, however, when theWashington Examiner broke the story in an article headlined “ObamaCare forcing 14 percent cut in Medicare’s home health program.”  FOX News and the Daily Caller have also picked up this story, so full attention is now being paid to this unprecedented cut – and the harm it will do to frail seniors across America.
As the Examiner’s Richard Pollock wrote, “An estimated 3.5 million poor and ill homebound senior citizens will wake up on New Year’s Day to discover ObamaCare has slashed funding for their home health care program.”  He’s right: on January 1st, the Obama Administration will sharply cut Medicare funding for home healthcare services.
Totaling a whopping 14 percent between 2014 and 2017, this cut is the maximum allowable under the ObamaCare law.  The Administration had the discretion to cut less, or even to make no cuts at all.  But they decided to impose the deepest cut made possible by the Affordable Care Act (shouldn’t we be calling this the “Horrible Care Act”?) legislation.  And in doing so, they will shift billions of dollars from Medicare to ObamaCare.
This cut is not only unprecedented in its magnitude – it will have a direct and devastating impact on the millions of ailing seniors who want to stay in their homes and not have to move to a facility.
This year, Medicare home health services were delivered to approximately 3.5 million Medicare beneficiaries.  According to the federal government’s own data, these seniors are older, poorer and sicker than the Medicare beneficiary population as whole.  Many of these seniors also reside in rural communities, where home health care is especially important because other sources of treatment are often located many miles away.
The Medicare home health benefit is also of critical importance to younger Americans.  Families across America depend on home health services to help them care for their aging parents.  Having a skilled nurse come to their homes to deliver needed treatment not only means that Mom and Dad don’t have to go into a nursing home – it also means their adult daughters and sons can balance caring for their parents with raising a family and earning a living.
In light of its importance to millions of seniors and their families, the Medicare home health sector has been one of the nation’s leading creators of new jobs.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, thousands of Americans find employment every month in the home health field.  Just as important, these jobs are being created by small businesses, which constitute more than 90 percent of all providers of home health services.
But all that’s about to change.
Hidden on page 117 of the regulation that the Obama Administration quietly released on that Friday evening is a stunning admission: “approximately 40 percent” of all providers of home health services face net losses as a result of this Medicare cut.  Put more plainly, 4-in-10 of all the providers on whom homebound seniors depend face the threat of bankruptcy and closure as a result of ObamaCare.
While this news is troubling, it is not surprising. We've known all along that ObamaCare could not be paid for without new monies coming in. The medical device tax was created to help bring those new monies into ObamaCare. Other funds have been moved from their primary function to help provide funding for ObamaCare. We are now seeing more of that push, directed at the heart of an industry that helps senior citizens keep a portion of their dignity and independence.
The final effects of this newly announced cut to home health providers may not be known for some time, but it takes only minimal extrapolation skills to understand what those effects will be. If home health providers are faced with a 3.5% cut in Medicare payments from 2014 to 2017, they are, in effect, faced with a 14% total cut in three years. This almost assures that many of them will have to cut the services they provide, or go out of business altogether. As the article I quoted explains, this will affect not only senior citizens, but also their support systems, in the form of the family members who help provide their care.
What happens if a family is forced to choose between providing care for an elderly parent or grandparent and working to provide a living for their own immediate family? These cuts could lead to that exact scenario. All because the Obama administration is more focused on paying the bill for ObamaCare, instead of providing decent healthcare for the senior citizens who depend on home health providers for their care.
Of all the egregious and onerous actions taken by President Barack Obama since he was sworn into office, this ranks close to or at the top of the list.
Hat tip to Doug Ross, who gives us the following comic to explain how this is going to work. You can decide yourself if this qualifies as the death panels Sarah Palin tried to warn us about.
