Millennials turning away from Obama

The Hill ^ | December 15, 2013

President Obama’s support among young voters has fallen to 45 percent, according to a new USA Today/Pew Research Center Poll. Forty-five percent of young Americans – aged 18 to 29 – said they approved of Obama’s job performance, compared with 46 percent who disapproved.

Ted Cruz 3rd 'most influential' world leader, behind Pope & Obama!

Washington Examineer ^ | 15 Dec 2013 | PAUL BEDARD

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has had the best year of any Republican and virtually anyone in the world, ranking third in Rasmussen Report’s new poll of the of the “most influential” people in the world, behind Pope Francis and President Obama.

In the new poll, Cruz, who made headlines for trying to dismantle Obamacare, was the pick for the most influential of 11 percent. The pope was tops at 23 percent, Obama second at 21 percent.

Among Republicans, Cruz was second behind the pope, with 19 percent calling the freshman senator and Tea Party leader the world’s most influential leader. Just 9 percent of Republicans said the same thing of Obama.

Two other Republicans on Rasmussen’s list, House Speaker John Boehner and newly reelected New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, tied at 3 percent.

An open letter to the establishment GOP

Facebook ^ | 12/12/2013 | Dan Bongino

An open letter to the establishment GOP.

I am serving you with divorce papers. For those who are unaware of what happened, the establishment wing of the Party has openly declared war on the grassroots.
For those who say this fight is hurting the Republican "brand" I reply; it is those on both sides of the aisle who have betrayed their principles in the name of Party, that have destroyed their "brands".
As for the GOP, we used to stand for something; a lean, effective government, vibrant and robust individual liberty, and a passionate defense of the value of hard work and a commensurate respect for your wages by consistently fighting for your right to keep more of them. Where do you stand now? I know where the grassroots does.
This is our Party and we will demonstrate to the people we hope to represent that there is a group of people out there who refuse to be part of any "managed decline". We will only be part of a spectacular American resurrection.
America's best days are ahead and you and your fellow insiders and cronyists and "Party before country" loyalists, on both sides of the aisle, can bathe in your titles and power now but understand that I, and many others, have dedicated our lives to draining the dirty water from the bathtub.
Consider yourself served.

If I had known how Obama care would turn out I would have voted for Romney!

The Real Reaction to Obamacare
Townhall.com ^ | December 15, 2013 | Bruce Bialosky

As Queen Kathleen (Sebelius) has stated, the people who want her fired are “people I don’t work for.” This is indicative of an attitude exhibited by many in the Administration that the principal complaints concerning Obamacare are coming from people who did not want the law from its inception.

I want to share with you communications that were sent to me by a long-time friend and business associate. This first communication was directed to me and is titled “I owe you this.”

If I had known how Obama care would turn out I would have voted for Romney.

Whatever the arguments were for Obama care, the brand is now more tainted than Anthony Weiner.

Let’s hear about some of those “Market Oriented Solutions.” There is no question that the 17% of our GDP that is being spent on healthcare represents a misallocation of resources. The burden of healthcare costs is crushing American competitiveness.

I will have to educate myself as to the definition of a “high crimes and misdemeanor”; does incompetence and mismanagement ever rise to that level? There were certainly a lot of lies being told; were laws broken?

If we need to have a caretaker president for 3 years I would much prefer Joe Biden.

That certainly is a strong statement from an Obama supporter. But he even gets stronger in a letter he sent to Organize for America. To remind you, Organizing for America is Obama’s continuing campaign organization that has the purpose of extending his perpetual campaign through his second term. It is operated by key members of his presidential campaign.

This is what he sent to them:

I have been hearing abject disdain about the ACA (Affordable Care Act) and high levels of anxiety about individual’s personal situations. The political ineptitude displayed in the design of the ACA and the incompetence shown in the roll out of this plan has been truly breathtaking to me.

Between my wife and me we contributed approx. $4,000 to the 2008 and 2012 campaign. It is not like I did not want the ACA to work, health care reform was the #1 most important issue to me in both of those elections by a long shot. I could not be more disappointed and disgusted at the gross negligence and utter ineptitude displayed in the implementation of the ACA at all levels of this administration. Is there any possible explanation for this fiasco other than a toxic combination of insularity, hubris, amateurish incompetence, and other negative management elements too numerous to mention?

This administration should be truly ashamed. They have driven a stake through the heart of healthcare reform, the Democratic Party, and progressive ideas in general by way of this fiasco. How many decades will need to elapse before the American public will trust the government with any large undertaking like Cap and Trade?

Granted I am only 61 years old, but in a lifetime of following politics I cannot recall a more far reaching and preventable fiasco of this magnitude. Good luck trying to get this horse back into the raging flames of this burning barn.

Over the past five years while I was having conversations with this gentleman, we had many lively discussions about health care reform. I would express to him that Democrats have for many years in California (and probably in other states) stifled any free market reforms to health insurance out of a desire to head toward government-operated health care. At the same time they stuffed requirement after requirement into insurance plans making them more expensive and less affordable.

They also created a big lie; Republicans don’t have an alternative to Obamacare. Rep Tom Price (R-GA), who is a medical doctor by training and experience, has presented HR 2300 which is a comprehensive market-based health care plan for America in the past three Congresses. The Republicans do have a plan -- it just is not government run with extensive, coercive penalties.

Despite that, he kept on telling me the Republicans had to come up with a plan. I talked about expansion of health saving accounts, portability, lawsuit restrictions and nationalizing the health care market, much like the auto and homeowner’s insurance markets are operated to introduce greater competition. I told him to go to Congressman Price’s website to see a more comprehensive plan of market-oriented reforms that do not include penalty after penalty for taxpayers.

That all fell away the day Obamacare went into effect. No more promises of freebies and cost savings; reality set in.

For those of you who doubt what is above -- it is unequivocally real and he stated I could use his statements. That is how strong his feelings of betrayal are from the Obama Administration about a burning issue to him. I am quite confident that there are hundreds of thousands out there, if not millions, who feel the same way. It is not just us non-believers.

The Hottest Electric Vehicles Leave Winter Drivers Out in the Cold

The Daily Caller ^ | 12/14/13 | Giuseppe Macri

Engineering breakthroughs like the Tesla Model S may be burning up the electric car market (figuratively and literally), but they’re leaving drivers cold and under-powered in the face of Old Man Winter.
Cold temperatures have adverse effects on batteries, slowing down the incoming and outgoing flow of energy and inevitably losing some in the process. The 250-mile average range of an electric car in normal climate conditions can see its performance reduced by 70-miles on a single charge in average winter conditions. The colder it gets, the shorter than range.
Not only that, the average winter driver tends to turn up the heat — a function that also puts a draw on the battery uncommon during other seasons.

Krauthammer Tells PBS Viewers ‘Try Fox’ to Hear What You Won’t On This Show!

Townhall.com ^ | December 14, 2013 | Noel Sheppard

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer clearly was unhappy with the liberal topics being discussed on PBS’s Inside Washington Friday.
At one point, he looked into the camera after mentioning the new deadline changes to ObamaCare announced this week and said, “You won’t hear about this on this show, so try Fox” (video follows with transcript and commentary):
Krauthammer Tells PBS Viewers ‘Try Fox’ to Hear What You Won’t On This Show

GORDON PETERSON, HOST: We can tell you what they said. They said they don’t like it. The Tea Partiers don’t like it, the Heritage Action doesn’t like it. Erick Erickson of Red State accused the deal’s co-architect Paul Ryan of outright capitulation. Ryan’s response was this: Look, you want to get things done, you have to be willing to be criticized by everybody. Republicans don’t run everything. You have to find a way to work with the other side of the aisle to make the government work. Apparently there are people in Washington who find that kind of reasoning toxic, Charles.
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Let me start with an editorial note: I love how you guys just can’t wait to get your teeth into Republicans throwing mud at Republicans on a week when this administration - by the way, the viewers, you’re not going to hear a word about a week in which the secretary of HHS unilaterally, lawlessly changed every deadline in the ObamaCare law without any legal authority, in a way that is absolutely astonishing - but you won’t hear about this on this show, so try Fox.
Just before the program's conclusion, host Gordon Peterson said next week would be the last show before Inside Washington permanently goes off the air.
With that in mind, maybe Krauthammer isn't going to be on next week, and this was his last chance to inform PBS viewers that they're not hearing the whole story.
If that's the case, I am truly saddened to think this is the last time we're going to see Charles squabble with the likes of Colby King, Mark Shields, and Nina Totenberg.
On a more personal note, as I've been watching this show since it was called Agronsky and Company many decades ago, it will be with a heavy heart that I watch the final episode next week with or without Charles.

US military's RAY-GUN truck BLASTS DRONES, mortars OUT OF THE SKY

The Register ^ | 13th December 2013 | Iain Thomson

In month-long tests at the White Sands missile range in new Mexico, the High Energy Laser Mobile Demonstrator (HELMD) blew up 90 mortar rounds and several aerial drones using a 10kW-class laser mounted on an armored vehicle.
"We had considerable success," Terry Bauer, Army program manager for HELMD told the Christian Science Monitor.
The HELMD system uses radar (or as the military calls it "Enhanced Multi Mode Radar") to track targets and focus the laser on them. Once locked, the laser raises the temperature of mortar shells to the point where the explosives they contain combust.
"It falls as a single piece of metal with a little bit of shrapnel. It basically falls where it was going to fall, but it doesn’t explode when it hits the ground," Bauer said. “We turn it into a rock, basically.”

Secret Obamacare handbook the feds don’t want you to see is online

Watchdog ^ | 12/13/13 | Tori Richards

A confidential training manual for Obamacare navigators that threatens prosecution for unauthorized dissemination is on the Internet for the world to see.

The 217-page manual reads like a primer for Amway or novice car salesmen, offering sales advice on how to disarm potential customers who could be lured into purchasing insurance through exchanges created under the Affordable Care Act.

Section headers include “Smile: Maintain a Positive Demeanor,” “Make the Customers Feel Welcome,” “Listen” and — in what must now seem ironic given Barack Obama’s troubles with over-promising — “Build Trust: Be True to Your Word.”

Thousands of Obamacare sign-ups disappear into HealthCare.gov black hole!

The Daily Caller ^ | December 14, 2013 | Katie McHugh

Nearly 15,000 enrollment records from Americans trying to sign up for Obamacare never made it to insurers — but the federal government does not know which records never made it to which insurer.
The federal analysis merely compares the number of times Obamacare enrollees clicked “enroll” to the number of plans HealthCare.gov sent to insurers, according to The Washington Post. Consumers who send the vanishing enrollments, or “orphan files,” are not notified that their information has not been processed and an insurer did not receive sensitive financial and health-related data, meaning that they could be in for an unpleasant surprise when the Dec. 23 deadline — the last day for customers to sign up for health insurance — comes and goes.
But government officials insist that less than one percent of enrollments disappeared into cyberspace since early December, even though their data does not include duplicated and erroneous enrollments....

Tea Party steps up war of words against Boehner over budget vote!

Fox News ^ | December 14, 2013

Tea party activists are pushing back hard against Speaker John Boehner for attacking conservative groups that are opposed to bipartisan budget legislation approved this week by the House, claiming he has “declared war on the Tea Party” with his blunt criticism.
In a fundraising email to supporters, Tea Party Patriots referred to the Ohio Republican as a “ruling class politician” who only pretends to be a conservative while remaining a “tax-and-spend liberal,” The Hill reported Friday.
The group, which supported efforts to defund the Affordable Care Act, accused Boehner of passing a “back-room budget deal which increases discretionary spending, does nothing to reform entitlements, and fully funds ObamaCare.”
The organization called the deal “an out and out betrayal of the American people.” …
