Felons could have been hired as ObamaCare 'navigators,' Sebelius tells Senate panel

fox news ^ | 11/6/2013 | Barnini Chakraborty

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted Wednesday that it was possible convicted felons could be hired as ObamaCare ‘navigators,’ giving them access to personal information like Social Security numbers and addresses of anyone signing up for the program.
Sebelius made the admission in an exchange with Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas., during a Senate Finance Committee hearing. It was the second time in a week Sebelius was on Capitol Hill, forced to defend the problem-plagued ObamaCare website.
“Isn’t it true that there is no federal requirement for navigators to undergo a criminal background check,” Cornyn asked her.
“That is true,” Sebelius answered. “States could add in additional background checks and other features, but it is not part of the federal requirement.”

Sebelius says Obamacare enrollment 'very low' ("Young and healthy" aren't following Obama's orders)

politico ^ | 11/6/2013 | By JENNIFER HABERKORN and JASON MILLMAN

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today acknowledged that long-awaited enrollment figures for the rocky first month of Obamacare will be “very low.”
“We intend to give you as much information as we can validate,” Sebelius told a Senate Finance Committee hearing where lawmakers from both parties harshly criticized the rollout and her agency’s lack of foresight about the massive problems. She said the initial batch of enrollment figures being released next week cover “the first month of enrollment” and will include both Medicaid and health plan numbers in the new insurance exchanges.

Obama didn't misspeak; He lied (and lied and lied)!

IBD ^ | 11/6/2013 | Michael Ramirez

Let's clear up some foggy prevarications polluting President Obama's ongoing snow job for ObamaCare:

If you tell a spouse you're going to Sam's Club when you really mean Costco, that's no big deal. Those membership stores are the same, except one peddles better hot dogs. That's called misspeaking.

However, if you're president of the United States peddling a legislative tumor like ObamaCare, one that you know will drastically change almost one-fifth of the nation's economy, one that openly claims to help a few million uninsured Americans while secretly disrupting the lives, families, finances and medical care of more than 100 million Americans, and you say things like this:

“No matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” -- Pres. Barack Obama to the American Medical Assn., June 15, 2009.

The Sad, Slow Economic Decline of the American Family

RightWingPatriot.com ^ | November 6, 2013 | RightWingPatriot

My mother and father taught me some important lessons in my life. One of them was to not to pay attention to what someone is saying, but rather pay attention to what they are doing and the consequences of their actions. Never has this lesson been more evident in taking stock of the economic policies of Obama and the progressive liberals who seek to transform America from an individualistic, capitalistic society to a collective, socially democrat one. We hear on the news every day that the economy is improving, people are going back to work, and that the dark days of the "Bush Recession" is over. Yet those of us who actually use our noggins to think logically and rationally can see that the true situation is far different. Our country continues to slide deeper and deeper into an economic quagmire and if someone in the media actually says something to show that, it's immediately pounced upon and the same old tired trope of blaming Bush is rolled out. It's incredibly frustrating to see the economic situation grow more dire, yet our elected officials in Washington continue to double down on the same policies that are crippling our economy. The simple fact is that the American family is in deep trouble.
As Andrew Breitbart would say, here are some hate facts to get you thinking. The median income of the average household today is $52,100 (I wish that my household even came close to that number) and the media spins that as a tremendous accomplishment. However, this is a decrease from the median income in 2009 ($54,500 when Obama took office) and in 2007 ($55,500) as the recession began. While some may say that a few thousand isn't a deal breaker, that doesn't factor in the higher costs that the American family has to pay today. A gallon of gasoline cost $1.84 in 2009, but due to Obama's anti-energy policies, a gallon of gas today goes for $3.65. This also impacts food prices as everything needs to be transported. Food goes up an average of 2-3% per year, with 2011 having an increase of 4.8%.
Now the American family has to contend with the onrushing train wreck of ObamaCare. Estimates for the program's cost over ten years is at $2.6 trillion, putting hard-working taxpayers on the hook. Then factor in the number of jobs being cut by employers or having hours cut back to under 30 into the equation. Now mix in the fact that at least 3.5 million people have had their health insurance cancelled and that the average rise in costs to a family of four is $7,500 per year. As the numbers point out, the American family isn't even treading water. They're going under with the weight of bloated government spending and insane economic policies dragging them down.
I've heard many defenders of Obama say that he's doing the best he can in an unfortunate time. We've all been told that he and the progressive liberals care about the hard-working middle class. Yet the evidence of their actions say otherwise. I can understand making one or two foolish decisions, but the fact that Obama and his allies just continually double-down on policies that have shown great harm to the country leaves me with one inescapable fact: that all this is deliberate. What else can you say when there are almost 50 million Americans living in poverty? What about the vast increase of people on food stamps in the last few years, with an almost 48 million on them currently? Now factor in that the federal government is taking over health care in this country. The fact is that progressive liberals have nothing but utter contempt for normal people. They believe us to be ignorant, uneducated, and too stupid to make our own choices in our lives. We need the benevolent and wise hand of government to shepherd us children through life. Freedom of choice? Individual liberty? The US Constitution? All passé relics from a quaint, antiquated time that has no relevance on today's society. Expect the economic situation to grow more dire if conservatives don't take back Congress in 2014 and if an Obama-like candidate is elected in 2016. I feel sorry for our children who are born with a tremendous debt of $1.5 million dollars today.

Sarah Palin knew a death panel when she saw one!

Washington Times ^ | Charles Hurt

Mama Grizzly warned us this would happen. Under Obamacare, the sick and weak and old would stand before death panels of bureaucrats to be granted life or death. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was laughed out of town for making four years ago what we now know is a prescient prediction. Perhaps she is one of the few who actually read the health care bill before it passed. “And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course,” she wrote on her Facebook page in 2009. “The America I know and

A Different View of Paternalism

American Thinker ^ | 11/6/2013 | Jim Yardley

The word "paternalism" has been bandied about concerning the various pathetic defenses of Barack Obama's now infamous claim that "If you like your health care, you can keep it. Period."
Well, yes, you can actually keep the health care you had before Obamacare was crammed through Congress. The caveat that was always unstated by the president, by any and all Democrats in Congress or the administration and by the mainstream media was that you could keep it if, and only if, it complied with every aspect of the new (Orwellian) Affordable Care Act.
Certain people who might generally be viewed as conservative have noted with mild horror that this is governmental paternalism.
(snip)
In terms of the ironically named Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or ObamaCare, it appears that our government has settled somewhere between Stage IV and Stage V paternalism. If you resist their persuasive "suggestions" that you really should just ignore the health insurance that you have, and spend in many cases twice as much for something that you don't want, you will be punished. A penalty is punishment, not a tax, regardless of what the Chief Justice thinks. The longer you resist their suggestions, the more onerous the penalty becomes. You might ultimately be punished by being denied health care under any circumstances. No one knows for sure, since regulations on that subject have yet to be written.
In any event, when you get to Stage IV or Stage V paternalism, it should no longer be called paternalistic at all. It should more properly be called totalitarian, or perhaps dictatorial, tyrannical, or even authoritarian. But a word such as paternalistic is much too gentle a word to describe the behavior of the Washington elite…

Obama's Base Won't Abandon Him

The Excellence In Broadcasting Network ^ | November 5, 2013 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: We're gonna start in Pittsburgh. This is Bob. It's great to have you, sir. Hello.
CALLER: Good afternoon, Rush. This is a pleasure for me to be able to speak to you today.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: You know, I've been a listener only since the days of Operation Chaos, and before that I was one of those hard-core Democrat union goons, but I've come a long way and have to thank you for that.
RUSH: Welcome home, sir. Welcome home.
CALLER: What I'm thinking about today is not... So the blood is in the water. Obama has been caught red-handed lying and doubling down. I'm thinking that maybe some of his other base groups are now gonna start to think, "Well, maybe I've been scammed and lied to as well." You know, he lied to the unions bald-faced in 2008 about Card Check. He needed their votes. He's lied to the greens. He's lied to the LGBTs.
He's lied to Israel about supporting them for no other reason than votes and support, and he thinks nothing about lying and doubling down on lying and deceit because it's more or less inbred into him. He's been raised, he's been mentored, he's been educated like that by people like Frank Marshall Davis and Derrick Bell, and it's in his nature to lie just as it is yours to tell the truth. But I think that now maybe some of these other groups that he's been scamming and taking advantage of or lying to over these last five years --

RUSH: I don't think that's gonna happen. I respectfully disagree. I don't think he's gonna do anything to upset his base here. His base is gonna support him because he lies. His base is gonna applaud him getting Obamacare passed with a lie. That's kind of thing they love. The people here that are perhaps movable at some point are what I call the low-information crowd, the people that are not passionately political but to whom their health care really matters. I mean, it's the most important thing in their life and they trusted the guy.
They voted for him.
They thought he was unique.
They thought he was a unifier!
They thought he was gonna bring people together, thought he was gonna fix problems. He's lied to them. He's destroyed the public trust. He told them they could keep their plans and he told them it was gonna be cheaper, and it's none of that. It's that group of people that he has broken this bond of trust with. No, his base is gonna applaud this. His base is gonna celebrate the fact he got this done by lying. That's the kind of thing that makes them happy. His base is corrupt as he is. They're never gonna abandon him.
It's the low-information crowd here that's at risk, and the media knows it.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Okay. So look at this, folks. This is from The Daily Caller, and the headline: "Swing Voters Have Turned Against Obama, Says New Poll -- A new poll shows that non-ideological swing voters have walked away from President Barack Obama, which could sharply reduce his political influence and power." This is an Ed Goeas poll. You know, he's half of the Battleground Poll with Celinda Lake, and he's a good pollster. He did this poll with Brian Nienaber, and it's a poll of 1,000 likely voters, 60% swing voters, unfavorable image of Obama. Thirty-six percent favorable. It is the George Washington University Battleground Poll released yesterday.
Swing voters, I don't want to insult 'em here, but that's what I'm talking about, low-information voters, the non-base. Obama's base, I'm telling you, the Daily Kos kids, all these people out there, these Democrat Underground type sites, they're applauding Obama lying. Whatever it takes to beat us. The fact that he told this big a lie and got away with it and got health care, that makes him a superhero to them. The more deceitful you get away with being, the bigger Obama is to his base, folks. Remember, they're radicals. They're irrational, off the wall, deadbeat radicals. He's never gonna lose them. But there's a reason he's at 39%, and it's these nonideological types that believed everything he said.
