And then God created Texas...

God was missing for six days.
Eventually, Michael the archangel found him resting on the seventh day. He inquired, "Where have you been?"
God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downward through the clouds. "Look, Michael. Look what I've made." Archangel Michael looked puzzled and said, "What is it?"
"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put life on it. I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a place to test balance."
"Balance?" inquired Michael. "I'm still confused."
God explained, pointing to different parts of Earth. "For example, Northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while Southern Europe is going to be poor.
"Over here, I've placed a continent of white people, and over there is a continent of black people. Balance in all things."
God continued pointing to different countries. "This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."
The Archangel, impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?"
"That's Texas, the most glorious place on Earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, and plains. The people of Texas are going to be handsome, modest, strong of character, intelligent and humorous, and they are going to travel the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of good things."
Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked, "But what about balance, God? You said there would be balance."
God smiled. "I will create Washington DC. Wait until you see the idiots I put there!"

Obama is spending our money like a drunken King (no need to insult drunken sailors)

Coach is Right ^ | 4/4/13 | Emma Karlin

We’ve heard about the government spending $1.5 million to determine why most lesbians are fat and almost twice that much to discover why they are drunks, but a peek under the White House rug shows much more willful waste of our money.

Barack Obama is arming Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood so they’ll be able to defeat our ally Israel in the next Middle East war. He gives the PLO hundreds of thousands of our money each year as well.
King Barack has eaten through $1.4 BILLION in happy lifestyle spending on him, Mooch and their royal highnesses.

$505,000 of our tax dollars went to “to promote specialty hair and beauty products for cats and dogs” – yes cats and dogs!

The feds are lining someone’s pockets with $1 million a year to...

Jane Fonda Bullshit

“I made one unforgivable mistake when I was in North Vietnam, and I will go to my grave with this,” Jane Fonda says on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The actress and activist made an infamous trip to North Vietnam in 1972 in which she was photographed singing with North Vietnamese military members as she sat on an anti-aircraft gun.

She was criticized then — and ever since — and says she understands the anger.

Fonda said she knew immediately that she had made a mistake and has apologized repeatedly, both privately and publicly.

She told OWN program “Oprah’s Master Class” that the event happened on the last day of her visit. She was tired, she said, and didn’t want to attend.

"I don't know if I was set up or not,” she said. “I was an adult. I take responsibility for my actions."

The soldiers sang a song and Fonda joined in with her “feeble Vietnamese.”

As everyone was laughing and singing, Fonda was led to a gun site, where she sat down.

“And I was laughing and clapping, and there were pictures taken."

As she walked away, Fonda says she suddenly realized that the pictures would be seen in the United States — and they would not look good.

“There were no planes, the gun was not operable. It didn’t matter. This is an image that belied everything that I was,” Fonda said.

The visit earned Fonda the nickname "Hanoi Jane," particularly among U.S. veterans, who were outraged by photos of the young actress.

In 1988, Fonda met with a group of Vietnam veterans in a church basement in Connecticut while making a film there. She said that while not everyone at the meeting became “fond of Fonda,” there was healing.

“What I learned,” she said, “we have to listen to each other, even when we don’t agree, even when we think we hate each other. We have to listen to each other’s narratives, not interrupt defensively or with hostility, but really try to open our hearts and listen with empathy.

A Food-Stamp Recovery Is the New Normal

Fiscal Times ^ | 04/04/2013 | Edward Morrissey

Almost four years ago, in June 2009, the US entered into a technical recovery from the Great Recession touched off by the collapse of a decade-long housing bubble. The bubble collapse nearly wiped out the financial sector, thanks to extensive investment in mortgage-backed securities that ended up being nearly worthless as foreclosures swept across the nation like a wildfire.
American investors lost trillions in net worth as the stock markets plunged, and the federal government shoveled out trillions more in bailouts, safety-net subsidies, and stimulus programs that promised a soft landing and then a steady recovery based on a more-sound economic foundation.
The Obama administration has insisted that the recovery has been both steady and sound, almost ever since it began. Every month’s jobs reports is accompanied by cheering that the numbers remain positive, even though the rate of increase hasn’t kept up with population growth, and despite the fact that the civilian workforce participation rate remains at three-decade-long lows. Consumer spending increases are heralded as corroboration of confidence in the recovery. Even the brief instance of contraction in the initial estimate of the 2012 fourth-quarter US economy, later adjusted to 0.4 percent annualized growth, was explained as an artifact of government spending cuts, a mere hiccup along the path of solid economic expansion.
This week, the administration’s supporters celebrated another indicator of recovery and expansion. This week the Dow Jones Industrial Averagehit a six-year high, going above the 14,500 mark and doubling the DJIA value at the nadir of the Great Recession. The Standard & Poor’s Index also hit a record high mark last week, and then closed above that earlier this week. That has some feeling as though we have closed out the books on the Great Recession, even to the point to where US News opined yesterday that another Korean War wouldn’t necessarily push the US back into a recession.
Actually, I agree. We’d have to get out of the first one to go into another. And while the stock markets look as though the American economy has rebuilt itself to its pre-collapse strength, the measures on the ground paint a very different story.
First, the stock market rally offers more smoke than fire, for reasons related to both the stimulus and the Fed. As former OMB Director David Stockman pointed out in Sunday’s New York Times, the soaring highs of the S&P 500 and DJIA show more of a bubble than actual growth. Three turns on the qualitative-easing roller coaster has devalued the dollar, with the third apparently an infinite policy, and that makes the two indices meaningless in this comparison.
“Since the S.&P. 500 first reached its current level, in March 2000, the mad money printers at the Federal Reserve have expanded their balance sheet sixfold (to $3.2 trillion from $500 billion),” Stockman explained. “Yet during that stretch, economic output has grown by an average of 1.7 percent a year (the slowest since the Civil War); real business investment has crawled forward at only 0.8 percent per year; and the payroll job count has crept up at a negligible 0.1 percent annually.” That “flood of liquidity” has only pooled in one specific area of the American economy, Stockman argues – Wall Street. That makes both the S&P 500 and DJIA much less indicative of the health of the overall economy, and points to “yet another unsustainable bubble.”
That isn’t the only disconnect that Stockman sees. A recovering economy should expand the workforce and reduce reliance on safety-net programs. Instead, we continue to see the opposite. Besides the aforementioned stagnation at the 32-year low in civilian workforce participation, an enormous expansion of aid has now doubled food-stamp and disability rolls in twelve years to 59 million people, nearly one in every five Americans, Stockman points out. Food stamp rolls alone have increased 70 percent since the end of 2008, the Wall Street Journal reported separately last week. It now stands at a record high of 47.8 million Americans.
The WSJ blames easing of access rules for part of that expansion, but that doesn’t entirely explain the increase. Neither does fraud, although that’s growing faster than the food-stamp rolls themselves. The main driver for expansion of food stamp recipients is the reason for the program’s existence in the first place – poverty.
Over 50 million people now live in poverty, according to a recent release by the US Census Bureau. At the end of 2010, after the passage of the $800 billion stimulus bill and eighteen months of technical recovery, that number was 46 million according to Census Bureau statistics. At the end of 2008, at the depth of the Great Recession and as President Obama first took office, that number was below 40 million.
We have added 10 million people into poverty since Obama took office, most of whom fell into poverty after the stimulus and the technical recovery began. In comparison, we have only added 123,000 jobs over the same period, according to the BLS Current Population Survey, which showed a seasonally-adjusted employment level in December 2008 of 143.369 million, compared to 143.392 million in February. (The BLS’ Current Employment Survey data looks almost as bad, with a gain of just 621,000 jobs in the same period.) The civilian participation rate in the workforce has dropped from 65.8 percent to 63.5 percent during that time, equaling August 2012 for the worst since September 1981.
The Obama administration agrees. "While the perception may be different,” Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Kevin Concannon told the WSJ, “the actual raw numbers, almost 50 million people [under the federal poverty level], is certainly one of the principal reasons why we see the enrollment increases in the SNAP program.” Perception is the key term in that response. This administration has been selling the perception of a recovery – by dumbing down expectations for jobs growth, by using gimmicky stimulus spending to temporarily improve stagnation numbers, and by leaving the Fed with no other choice than to fuel a currency bubble that makes Wall Street look stronger than it is at the expense of the actual economy. The real fundamentals of the last five years don’t show a recovery at all, but a slow slide into poverty and decline. Until we get serious about fiscally responsible regulatory, monetary, and spending policies, we won’t ever break out of this cycle.

Toxic Government by Democrats: Minneapolis ^ | April 4, 2013 | John Perazzo

Virtually all of America’s poorest cities have been led politically by Democrats for many years, even decades. In 2010, for example, not even one of the ten poorest large cities in the U.S. had elected a Republican mayor since the 1980s. In fact, 8 of the 10 cities had been led exclusively by Democrats for more than half a century.

The common thread running through each of these economically decrepit cities is a phenomenon that Harvard scholars Edward Glaeser and Andrei Shleifer famously dubbed “The Curley Effect,” after its prototype, James Michael Curley, who served four non-consecutive terms as mayor of Boston between 1914 and 1950. This phenomenon, Glaeser and Shleifer explain, is the strategy of “increasing the relative size of one’s political base through distortionary, wealth-reducing policies.” Forbes magazine puts it this way: “A politician or a political party can achieve long-term dominance by tipping the balance of votes in their direction through the implementation of policies that strangle and stifle economic growth. Counterintuitively, making a city poorer leads to political success for the engineers of that impoverishment.”

What Happened In Cyprus Will Happen Everywhere!

CNBC ^ | Arpil 2, 2013 | Paul Toscano

Growing wealth inequality means that the wealthy have nowhere to hide and that events like those in Cyprus will happen in more countries around the world, including developed nations, said Marc Faber, the contrarian investor and publisher of the Gloom, Boom & Doom Report.

"It will happen everywhere in the world, in Western democracies," Faber said "Squawk on the Street" on Tuesday. "You have more people that vote for a living than work for a living. I think you have to be prepared to lose 20 to 30 percent. I think you're lucky if you don't lose your life."
"If you look at what happened in Cyprus, basically people with money will lose part of their wealth, either through expropriation or higher taxation," he added.
"The problem is that 92 percent of financial wealth is owned by 5 percent of the population. The majority of people don't own meaningful stock positions and they don't benefit from a rise in the stock market. They are being hurt by a rising cost of living and we all know that the real incomes of median households has been going down for the last few years," he said.

Vehicular Jihad: Muslim plows into Walmart, assaults staff and customers on Easter Sunday

Atlas Shrugs ^ | Arpil 4, 2013 | Pamela Geller

On March 31 (Easter Sunday), a Muslim drove his pickup truck through a parking lot in San Jose, California, striking parked cars. He then drove through the front of a Walmart store, crashed, got out and began assaulting shoppers with a blunt object before police arrived and arrested him.
Atlas reader FS, "Coverup? Virtually all media outlets are omitting the name of the man who plowed his car into a Walmart in San Jose, California and then began clubbing people this Easter. The man's name is Haamid Ade Zaid. He lives in Seaside, California--another detail that has been largely omitted. The small coastal city of Seaside, and neighboring Monterey, are home to the Defense Language Institute. Monterey is also home to the Naval Post Graduate School, and the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Seaside was once home to Fort Ord until is was shut down. Also, no mention on whether Zaid attended the Mosque in Seaside that was apparently being monitored."
Robert Spencer has written on this: "New York City cabdriver Mohammed Azam ran over two of his passengers for no apparent reason. Another cabbie, Hassan Daly, who was described as a "devout Muslim," plowed his cab into a crowd on a sidewalk in San Diego, injuring over 24 people. Mohammed Reza Taheri-Azar explicitly grounded his hit-and-run in the teachings of the Koran. Munir Muthana told the police who arrested him that "the Muslims will fix this country." Omeed Aziz Popal, we were told, was suffering from stress from an arranged marriage. Ismail Yassin Mohamed, we were informed, was mentally ill, suffered from depression, and hadn't being taking his medication. And Muhammad Teshale, according to "law enforcement officials," "did it to be famous."

So far all the news outlets say the police think it was drug induced. Zaid has a history of crazy incidents and previously ran his truck into a car wash.

The Coming Global Warming Voter Backlash

The AMERICAN THINKER ^ | April 4, 2013 | Jonathon Moseley

News is breaking out all over: global warming stopped 20 years ago.
A political earthquake has resulted from a feature story in the Economist magazine because the Economist used to be a consistent cheerleader for global warming activism. Doubts about global warming used to be censored by its London editors, one reporter confided to Stephen Hayward.
So what will voters do to Democrat candidates in 2014 and 2016 when the former realize that the Democratic Party was lying to them? Is it time to run away from the issue for Democrats, journalists, and Hollywood personalities?
While our economy is struggling and our nation in debt, Democrats squandered tens of billions on a climate change hoax. How many voters are unemployed due to climate change polices? Unnecessary regulations are strangling people's jobs and their lives. And then one must wonder: what else were Democrats unbelievably wrong about?
Can Democrats hide by claiming that climate change hysteria was an innocent mistake? It was never a credible story. Democrats, journalists, and liberal commentators went way out on a limb. Like the collapse of ENRON or Bernie Maddoff's Ponzi schemes, political fortunes have been built on the shifting sand of bad science. Japan's Society of Energy and Resources in February 2009 declared the myth of man-made global warming to be like "ancient astrology."

The Architect of Destruction

Renew America ^ | 3/1/2013 | Maureen Scott

"Obama comes from a community organizer background where it's us against them. But that's not who we are. And that's not the position the leader of our Nation should take." – Dr. Benjamin Carson
Obama appears to be a tormented man who is filled with resentment, anger, and disdain for anyone of an opinion or view other than his. He acts in the most hateful, spiteful, malevolent, vindictive ways in order to manipulate and maintain power and control over others. Perhaps because, as a child, he grew up around family members and mentors who instilled him with an abiding bitterness toward the U.S. That bitterness seems not to have left him.
It is not the color of his skin that is a problem – for anyone in America. Rather it is the blackness that fills his soul and the hollowness in his heart where there should be abiding pride and love for this country.
Think: Have we ever heard Obama speak lovingly of the U.S. or its people, with deep appreciation and genuine respect for our history, our customs, our sufferings and our blessings? Has he ever revealed that, like most patriotic Americans, he gets "goose bumps" when a band plays "The Star Spangled Banner," or sheds a tear when he hears a beautiful rendition of "America the Beautiful?" Does his heart burst with pride when millions of American flags wave on a National holiday – or is he moved to sadness and reflection when someone plays "taps" on a trumpet? Has he ever felt the depth of our admiration of the military, as lovers of those who keep America free feel when soldiers march by? It is doubtful – because Obama did not grow up sharing our experiences or our values. He did not sit at the knee of a grandfather or uncle who showed his medals and told of the bravery of his fellow troops as they fought and tramped through foreign lands sacrificing for a cause greater than their own lives. He didn't have grandparents who told stories of suffering and then coming to America, penniless, and the opportunities they had for building a business and life for their children.
Away from this country as a young child, Obama didn't delight in being part of America and its greatness. He wasn't singing our patriotic songs in kindergarten, or standing on the roadside for a holiday parade and eating a hot dog, or lighting sparklers around a campfire on July 4th as fireworks exploded over head, or placing flags on the gravesites of fallen and beloved American heroes.
Rather Obama was separated from all of these experiences. He doesn't really understand us and what it means to be an American. He is void of the basic emotions that most feel regarding this country and is insensitive to the instinctive pride we have in our national heritage. His opinions were formed by those who either envied us or wanted him to devalue the United States and the traditions and patriotism that unite us.
Obama has never given a speech that is filled with calm, reassuring, complimentary, heartfelt statements about all the people in the U.S. Or one that inspires us to be better, grateful, and proud that, in a short time, our country became a leader, and a protector of so many. Quite the contrary, his speeches always degenerate into mocking, ridiculing tirades as he faults our achievements ,along with any of his critics, all for the sake of a laugh, or to bolster his ego. He uses his Office to threaten and create fear while demeaning and degrading anyone who opposes his policies and actions. Unlike a secure leader, who has noble self-esteem and not false confidence, Obama displays a cocky, haughty attitude and a dread of being critiqued.
Mostly, his time seems to be spent causing dissention, unrest, and anxiety among the people rather than uniting us (even though he was presented to us as the "Great Uniter"). He creates chaos for the sake of keeping citizens separated, envious, aggrieved and ready to argue. Under his leadership Americans have been kept on edge, rather than in a state of comfort and security. He incites people to be aggressive toward, disrespectful of, and retaliate against those of differing backgrounds and views. Through such behavior, Obama has lowered the standards for self-control and mature restraint to the level of rowdy, street-fighting gangs. When, instead, he should be raising the bar for people to strive toward becoming more considerate, tolerant, self-disciplined, self-sustaining, and self-assured.
Not a day goes by that he is not attempting to defy our laws, remove our rights, over-ride established procedures, install controversial appointees, enact divisive mandates, and assert a dictatorial form of power. •Never has there been a leader of this great land who used such tactics to harm and hurt the people and this country.
•Never have we had a President who spoke with a caustic, evil tongue against the citizenry rather than present himself as a soothing, calming, and trustworthy force.
•Never, in this country, have we experienced how much stress one man can cause a nation of people – on a daily basis!
Obama has promoted the degeneration of peace, civility, and quality of cooperation between us. He thrives on tearing us down, rather than building us up. He is the Architect of the decline of America, and the epitome of a Demagogue.
