Zimmerman Bombshells: Mayor And Pictures

Market-Ticker ^ | 4/20/12 | Karl Denninger

George Zimmerman was allegedly recognized by the Mayor for his intervention in the events surrounding the homeless (black) man that was beaten by a Sanford police officer's relative.

There has been a near-complete media blackout in this regard -- and questions about whether the letter published somewhat-recently was authentic.

Well, it appears (from testimony of his mother this morning) that the Sanford Mayor personally recognized George Zimmerman for his efforts to obtain justice for that homeless man.

And where is the media who tried to turn this into a racial issue?

Just as importantly, where is the Mayor of Sanford who gave that commendation and thus knew damn well what the history of this man was when it came to his views on race

Invisible Men (Black Republicans)

Afro ^ | 4/18/12 | Sean Yoes

Black Republicans for the most part have been conspicuously absent so far during the 2012 Presidential Primary Sweepstakes.

But, in fairness Black members of the GOP in general have perhaps been more scarce than usual in 2012 for the same reason the party’s conservative base has dragged its collective feet in embracing Willard Romney the presumptive nominee; they’re just not that into him.

But, regardless of their reticence, there is an election this November and Romney and the GOP clearly need all hands on deck if they want to take back the White House. So, where are the Black Republicans?

Well, two who have seized the spotlight most prominently during the GOP primary season from the end of 2011 into 2012 have displayed dubious political acumen and downright buffoonery at times.
Former pizza king Herman Cain – “Mr. 9-9-9” – compiled what more resembled a comedy reel than a presidential campaign (never mind the series of sexual harassment charges leveled against him which, of course is no laughing matter).
Who could forget Cain’s encounter with the editorial board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last November when he badly bungled a question about President Obama’s policy on Libya during the uprising?
“Okay, Libya. (Cain paused for several seconds and cast his eyes skyward presumably looking for help). President Obama called for the removal of Gaddafi. I just wanted to make sure we’re talking about the same thing before I say,
`Yes, I agree’ or No I didn’t agree.’ I do not agree with the way he handled it for the following reason – nope, that’s a different one.” After that rambling non- answer Cain paused for several more seconds, shifted uncomfortably in his chair crossing and uncrossing his legs before he just flat gave up.

“I got all this stuff twirling around in my head. Specifically, what are you asking me that I agree or not agree with Obama?”

Then there was his moment during a Republican debate last August when Big Daddy Cain tossed out a little inspiration for his followers.

“A poet once said, `Life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it’s never easy when there’s so much on the line.’”

The fact is the “poet” Cain quoted was a songwriter who penned an obscure tune, “The Power of One,” for disco legend Donna Summer who recorded it for Pokemon: The Movie 2000.
Then after he got busted on the source of the quote Cain inexplicably trotted it back out during his speech to formally announce his withdrawal from the presidential race. But, at least that time he name checked Pokemon.
That’s just a couple from Herman’s hit parade, but like most great comedians Cain had a million of them; he is nothing if not entertaining.
But, when he withdrew from the race last December not only did he take with him a mountain of fodder for the late night comedy show hosts, but he left a big void as the most high profile voice of the Black GOP.
Of course there’s Michael Steele; former Maryland Lt. Governor and former chair of the Republican National Committee. But, his reasonable rhetoric and affable demeanor seem incongruent with the wild-eyed fringe that has found so much favor within the Grand Old Party therefore relegating him most often to the progressive cable network MSNBC.
I’ve heard virtually nothing from veteran Black conservative Armstrong Williams. Former television judge Larry Elder – the so-called “Sage from South Central” – made a brief appearance to ambush “Hardball’s” Chris Matthews during a radio interview a couple of weeks ago. And I haven’t seen former Oklahoma Rep. J.C. Watts since he reared his head for just a minute, a couple of months ago to throw his support behind the now defunct candidacy of Rick Santorum.
But, just when you thought the Barbary Coast was clear, here comes the new king of the Black GOP fringe Florida Rep. Allen West, who perhaps delivered the most bizarre and psychotic political quip of 2012.

“About 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party,” said the Tea Party favorite last week during a town hall meeting in Palm City, Fla.
The men and women West is talking about are his colleagues – whether he likes it or not – in the United States House of Representatives. West attempted to illuminate his comment a bit.

“No, they actually don’t hide it. It’s called the Congressional Progressive Caucus,” West said.
Forget the fact last December, West likened the Democratic spin machine to the work of Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.
With statements like these it seems West is determined to drop the “Black” from his title, king of the Black GOP fringe; he just wants to be the unquestioned king of the GOP fringe with no regard to race.
Now, that’s what I call post-racial America.

Dinner With Obama & Clooney: O Brother, Where Art Thou Money?

Michelle Obama's Mirror ^ | 4-20-2012 | MOTUS

...That’s right! George Clooney will be putting on the chow-chow bag with the Once and Only! Tell me that’s not worth $3 or more...

and it’s possible that both will show up for dinner beardless, although George goes back and forth on this...

And do you remember George’s role as Ulysses Everett McGill in the movie “O Brother Where Art Thou?”, it was sort of based on Big Guy, in a postmodern way.

Pete: You miserable little snake! You stole from my kin! Ulysses Everett McGill: Who was fixin' to betray us.

Pete: You didn't know that at the time.

Ulysses Everett McGill: So I borrowed it until I did know.

Pete: That don't make no sense!

Ulysses Everett McGill: Pete, it's a fool that looks for logic in the chambers of the human heart.

Quadrupole Magnetic Shift in Sun Mimics Mini Ice Ages

Mainichi News Japan ^ | 4/20/2012 | Mainichi News

Apparently, the magnetic shifts in the Sun mimic those that occurred during the mini-Ice Ages of the 17th century, reports the Japanese Astronomical society. They also claim that this is the reason for the "halting" in the progress of global warming. Basically the sun's magnetic field has shifted from a straight N-S configuration -

to a N-Equator Equator-S, 4 pole configuration

This supposedly occurred during the 17/18th century and was responsible for the mini Ice Age.

Obama: do as I don’t do. Pay more taxes!

President Barack Obama has gotten a lot of mileage out of touting his “Buffett Rule” to force millionaires to pay more in taxes. Maybe he thinks earning three-quarters of a million gives him a free ride.

Obama wants YOU to pay a higher percentage than YOUR secretary

His argument that billionaire Warren Buffett paid a lower percentage of his income in taxes than did Buffett’s secretary seems to resonate with voters. At least it polls well, superficially.
But the president and his wife reported a joint adjusted gross income of $789,674 last year and paid $162,074 in federal taxes, about 20.5 percent. And the president’s secretary paid a higher pecentage on her $95,000 salary, the White House admitted last week.
That, the White House spun to be evidence the Buffett Rule is needed.
What the White House didn’t say – and we await anxiously to hear – is that the president got out his checkbook and wrote a check to the Treasury to elevate his percentage of income paid in taxes above his secretary’s.
We’re still waiting…
All Buffett, Obama and anyone else paying a greater percentage than their secretaries needs to do to fix the problem is write a check.
Still waiting…
Could it be there’s something else going on with all the talk about the “Buffett Rule”?

Obama’s Enemies List

Heritage ^ | 4/20/12 | Rory Cooper

In 1971, America was introduced to President Richard Nixon’s “Enemies List.” The President had instructed staff to keep a list of political opponents, and as then-White House Counsel John Dean described it, they would “use the available federal machinery to screw our political enemies.”

On the list were notable figures such as Paul Newman (actor), Charles Dyson (businessman), Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), NPR newsman Daniel Schorr and Morton Halperin, a foreign policy expert and father to political journalist Mark Halperin, and others. This secret list was the subject of justifiable scorn in the midst of the Watergate scandal.

In 2012, President Obama’s campaign has managed to make Nixon’s list look quaint, legitimate and even routine. This week, on the president’s ominous “Truth Team“ campaign website, his staff listed the names of eight of his likely opponent’s donors. They were listed in this way:

A Progressive Perverts the Commerce Clause; but O’Reilly Gets it Right!

Righting Our Consent Newsletter | April20,2012 | Publius Huldah

Bill O’Reilly (Fox News) made our Framers proud when, on March 26, 2012, he correctly explained [probably for the first time ever on TV] the genuine meaning of the interstate commerce clause.

O’Reilly’s guest was Big Government Progressive Caroline Fredrickson, Esq., of the inaptly named “American Constitution Society.” In trying to defend obamacare, she said that our Framers intended to grant to Congress extensive powers over the “national economy”:

“When the Founding Fathers adopted the Constitution, they put in the commerce clause ah specifically so that Congress could actually regulate interstate commerce. They envisioned a national economy, and we really have one now, and to the tune of over two trillion dollars, health care makes up a big big part of that and so it’s completely within the power of ah Congress to pass this legislation [obamacare] and to attempt to provide some reasonable regulation…”

But what she said is not true! Accordingly, O’Reilly responded:

“The interstate commerce clause was put in so individual States could not charge tariffs [for] going from one state to another. So, for example, Pennsylvania would say to New Jersey, ‘Hey, you can’t bring in anything here from New Jersey unless you pay us 2% on it.’ ”

Bravo, O’Reilly! That is precisely the purpose of the interstate commerce clause. James Madison, Father of our Constitution, wrote in Federalist No. 42 (9th para):
“… A very material object of this power [to regulate interstate commerce] was the relief of the States which import and export through other States, from the improper contributions levied on them by the latter. Were these at liberty to regulate the trade between State and State … ways would be found out to load the articles of import and export, during the passage through their jurisdiction, with duties which would fall on the makers of the latter and the consumers of the former…”
And Alexander Hamilton wrote in Federalist No. 22 (4th para):
“…’ The commerce of the German empire … is in continual trammels from the multiplicity of … duties which the several princes and states exact upon the merchandises passing through their territories, by means of which the … navigable rivers [of] … Germany … are rendered almost useless.’ Though the … people of this country might never permit this … to be … applicable to us, yet we may … expect, from the … conflicts of State regulations, that the citizens of each would … come to be … treated by the others in no better light …”
So! What our Framers said was that the purpose of the interstate commerce clause is to authorize Congress to prevent the States from imposing tolls and tariffs on articles of import and export – merchandize – as they are transported through the States for purposes of buying and selling.1
But Fredrickson apparently has no idea what our Framers said. She dug deeper:
“Actually this was a major issue at stake in the adoption of the Constitution was the ability of our national government to deal with national issues and, let’s look a little bit at what’s happened in the 20th century…”
What? Our Framers made a “major issue” of their determination to grant to Congress power over whatever it might in the future deem to be a “national issue”?
Rubbish! What Fredrickson said is demonstrably false. Our Framers said the exact opposite of what she represented. In Federalist No. 45 (9th para), Madison identified the “national issues” Congress would be dealing with:
“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; … The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people….” [boldface mine]
In Federalist No. 39 (3rd para from end):
“…the proposed government cannot be deemed a national one; since its jurisdiction extends to certain enumerated objects only, and leaves to the several States a residuary and inviolable sovereignity over all other objects.” [boldface mine]
and in Federalist No. 14 (8th para):
“…the general [federal] government is not to be charged with the whole power of making and administering laws. Its jurisdiction is limited to certain enumerated objects.…” [boldface mine]
Do you see? Our Framers drafted a Constitution which established a Federation of Sovereign States united only for the limited purposes enumerated in the Constitution. The powers of each of the three branches of the federal government are carefully limited and defined. See: Congress’ enumerated powers, the President’s enumerated powers, and the Judicial Branch’s enumerated powers. Our Constitution does not delegate general legislative powers over the Country at large to Congress! Ours is a Constitution of enumerated powers only. And nothing – nothing – in the Constitution authorizes the federal government to control the provision – or denial – of medical care to The People. Thus, obamacare is altogether unconstitutional as outside the scope of the legislative powers delegated to Congress by Our Constitution.
Folks! Do not believe what you hear people saying about Our Constitution on TV or the Radio. Most of them don’t know what they are talking about, or they are lying. Only rarely does anyone get it right as O’Reilly did. So you must check things out for yourself. And always demand Proof!!
End Note:
For a more definitive explanation of the genuine meaning of the interstate commerce clause, and more irrefutable proof from primary sources, see: Does The Interstate Commerce Clause Authorize Congress To Force Us To Buy Health Insurance? Read it. Progressives! Read it and rebut it, if you can.

The Obama Effect Is Wearing Off (Bowing, Begging for Forgiveness, etc, Days Over)

The American Interest ^ | Aprl 19, 2012 | Walter Rusell Meade

In the heady days of 2008, starry-eyed pundits predicted that the election of Barack Obama would lead to a complete rehabilitation of America’s image in the world. President Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize, less than a year into his first term, reinforced this narrative.

Three plus years later, that shiny new president smell is gone, and the flashy new car as a few nicks and dents. A new Gallup poll finds that the “Obama bounce” in foreign views of American has lost momentum and in some countries, (in Africa and Latin America and in a number of European countries) has fallen significantly. Overall, confidence in the US fell 13 pionts in three years to 40 percent in Latin America. international community is nearly universally losing confidence in America’s leadership.

Another Gallup poll suggests a way for America to improve its image. For the first time since Obama’s election, America has lost its position as the most respected major power, losing out to Germany, which now enjoys an approval rating of 47 percent to America’s 46. Much of Germany’s surge in popularity is attributable to its strong economic performance during the Euro crisis. Here we see how a balanced budget is more than just smart fiscal policy; it can also be a component of a nation’s soft power. A strong economy and a well-ordered budget are signs of strength, and they often earn the respect of those living under fiscally and economically dysfunctional regimes. America’s soft power could get a boost if other countries believed that our finances were sound.
Unfortunately, they aren’t. Fixing this problem should be the president’s first priority regardless of who wins the next election. Wealth, success and a solid financial foundation have a lot to do with how people regard you.

Report Confirms President Obama’s Policies Hurt Job Growth

speaker.gov ^

WASHINGTON, DC (Apr 20)

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement after the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released an analysis confirming that President Obama’s irresponsible budget proposal will stifle long-term economic growth and job creation:

“It’s official: President Obama’s idea of a ‘balanced approach’ leads to an unstable economy. This CBO report confirms the president’s policies will hurt long-term job creation and economic growth, and proves we have to do everything possible to stop Washington from spending money it doesn’t have, get control of our debt, and get government out of the way. The president’s ‘stimulus’-style policies have already added more than $5 trillion to the national debt in just three years -- no economy, not even the greatest one on Earth, can grow, prosper and create new jobs with such debt. House Republicans’ Path to Prosperity plan puts us on a path to a balanced budget, and protects our children and grandchildren from a future of fewer jobs, higher taxes, and more debt. The American people deserve better than President Obama’s ‘stimulus’ spending binge and Republicans will continue seeking opportunities for common ground based on the pro-growth Path to Prosperity budget.”

NOTE: You can read the full CBO report on the impact of the president’s budget proposal here. Click here to learn more about the House-passed budget, and visit jobs.GOP.gov for more information on the Republican jobs plan.

Pelosi: 'This President Has Been So Respectful of the Republicans in Congress'!

CNS News ^ | 4/19/2012 | Edwin Mora

CNSNews.com) -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters at her Thursday briefing that President Barack Obama "has been so respectful of the Republicans in Congress."
She was responding to a reporter who asked her to react to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Calif.) who said on Wednesday that the “president has been AWOL since Labor Day” and that he “lacks the courage to lead on the economy.”

“The fact is this president has been so respectful of the Republicans in Congress," Pelosi said. "He has given them every opportunity for the executive and the legislative branch to work together, to have a solution that has bi-partisan support. He’s been criticized by some for taking the time that it takes to find out that they’re never going to give him a break, which is a compromise.”

“One thing I do know with absolute certainty, President Obama was in agreement with the grand bargain, which the two of them negotiated last summer,” said Pelosi. “When he asked us, the Democrats in Congress, can you support us going down a path that doesn’t have as much revenue as we want, but that it has the balance, that has cuts that are painful, but also has some revenue in terms of assuming the repeal of the Bush tax cuts [on Dec. 31, 2012] he said, go for it, that would be our recommendation. The president didn’t need our recommendation, he knew where he was on it, but I think it was important for him to know that we were with him.”
Pelosi continued: “As we have said all along, we’re for a grand bargain. You can do many things and difficult choices that are there if you also have revenue. And I know that the president agreed with that and that the Republicans walked away. They’re trying to revise history now, but it just ain’t [sic] so.”
She went on to say that what Boehner’s comments about Obama were false because the president has actually been “engaged with the American people.”
On Wednesday, Boehner had said, “The president checked out last Labor Day. He spent the last six months campaigning from one end of the country to the other, instead of working with members of both political parties here in Washington to address the serious challenges that our country faces. He’s shrinking from his responsibility to lead and, rather, not using and not having any courage to help tackle these problems.”
Commenting further, Pelosi said that what Boehner said “is cute, but it isn’t true. The president has not been -- the president has been engaged, has been engaged with the American people and for that reason the Republicans had to come around on the payroll tax cuts in the House. … I think [what the Speaker said] is a sign of things to come in the campaign, but I don’t think they should go unanswered and the fact is what I know is that the president agreed to the grand bargain. Republicans walked away.”
She accused House Republicans of taking too long to pass legislation in February of this year that extended payroll tax cuts and unemployment insurance benefits until the end of the year. The deal also prevented reductions to Medicare payments to health providers. Critics, however, had accused the Republicans of caving in to the Democrats.
The grand bargain that Pelosi alluded concerned the negotiations between Republicans, Democrats, and the president last summer to work out a deal leading up to a deadline to raise the debt ceiling, which is the legal limit on the amount of money the government can borrow. At the time, the limit was $14.29 trillion.
The grand bargain was a failed $4-trillion deal that Speaker Boehner was working on with President Obama that included tax reform, entitlement reform and deficit reduction. They both reportedly had worked out a bargain but then Obama demanded $400 billion more in terms of revenue, i.e., tax increases, and Boehner said no. As the Speaker has remarked many times, the “White House moved the goal post.”
On Aug. 2, 2011, a deal was struck to raise the debt ceiling by up to $2.4 trillion between then and the end of 2012. The limit was raised $900 billion (on top of a national debt of $14.29 trillion) after Aug. 2 and then by another $1.2 trillion in January of this year. The current national debt (as of Apr. 18) is $15.6 trillion.
As CNSNews.com reported on Wednesday, in the 39 months since Barack Obama took the oath of office as president of the United States, the federal government’s debt has increased by $5,027,761,476,484.56.

The media can ignore it, but Obama is losing big among Catholics which will seal his doom!

coachisright.com ^ | April 20, 2012 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

Since such records have been kept no Democrat presidential candidate has ever lost the “Catholic vote” and won the general election.
Republicans can win a general election despite losing the “Catholic vote” but a Democrat simply can’t. This makes Barack Obama’s war on Christians in general and Catholics in particular so dangerous for him and his Party.
The results of a new Pew survey of voters by religious affiliation, holds devastating news for Obama’s chances of reelection. The ease with which it can be found proves this news is being purposely ignored by a delusional media that believes Obama is cruising toward an easy reelection.
Pew found Mitt Romney with a commanding lead among Evangelical and Catholic voters that has actually grown by 5 and 8 points respectively in just the past month. Obama now trails Mitt Romney 73/20 among Evangelicals and 57/37 among White Catholics.
The significance of Pew’s findings among “White” Catholics grows geometrically when added to that of “Evangelicals” because it means that Obama is also on track to lose by a very large margin among Whites, who make up 2/3 of the electorate in November.
Over the history of polling by religious affiliation the “Catholic vote” has served as a 90% accurate predictor of final results.
Moreover the winning Catholic percentage has consistently been very close to the winners victorious percentage in the general election – Obama’s 54% of the Catholic vote was the same as his overall winning margin in 2008.
Democrats like Hubert Humphrey in 1968 have even won the Catholic vote with landslide numbers (56/37) and still lost their race. Conversely George McGovern was pummeled in 1972 …….loser among Catholics by 20 points.

A Government of Waste, GSA Skyrockets under Obama!

Townhall.com ^ | April 20, 2012 | Judge Andrew Napolitano

What can we learn from allegations against a half-dozen supervisors in the Government Services Administration for wasting, and perhaps stealing, taxpayer dollars on foolishness in Las Vegas, and against a dozen Secret Service agents for dangerously procuring prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia, while there to prepare for a visit by the president?
If the allegations are true -- and they seem to be -- the behavior of these government workers reflects a view of government hardly consistent with the idea of limited government and public trust. The United States is the only nation in history founded on the principle that people voluntarily gave up some personal freedom in order to form a central government of limited powers and for limited purposes. Those purposes, according to the Constitution, consist primarily of the maintenance of personal freedom, natural rights and property rights, civil liberties and commercial liberties.
In all other nations where there is some freedom, government power begrudgingly permitted limited freedoms. In the U.S., personal freedom has permitted the government to have limited powers.
Those powers were intended to be used in a stingy way, to maximize freedom and to minimize government. There is no other intellectually honest reading of the Constitution in the era of its creation than this. Even the Big Government folks present at the nation's creation, such as John Adams, who would one day prosecute people for speech critical of him, and Alexander Hamilton, who began our nefarious infatuation with government debt, agreed that the federal government was limited to the powers articulated in and delegated to it by the Constitution, and to those tools necessary and proper to execute the delegated powers.
But 230 years later, when governmental power is used for personal gain that is obviously nowhere countenanced in the Constitution, that use perverts the structure that established the government. It also tells us that those in government who have done this do not comport themselves as if they work for us. Rather, they use the power we gave them and the taxes they took from us for silly and tawdry behavior that in no way protects our freedom.
Unfortunately for the national discourse, politicians will seek to make political gains over this. These GSA and Secret Service scandals were not caused by one political party. They were caused by the Big Government attitude that those in government can do as they please with the public trust and the public purse so long as they can get away with it.
The same Congress that professes outrage over the GSA and the Secret Service escapades does whatever it can get away with every day. It writes whatever laws it wants; it regulates whatever behavior it chooses; it taxes whatever events it thinks will keep it in power. And it does so with utter disregard to whether its work is permitted by the Constitution.
The president bombs whatever countries he wants and spies on whatever Americans he chooses and kills whatever persons he fears and lends tax dollars to whatever friends he wishes, as if the Constitution didn't exist. And the courts look the other way.
Congressional hearings into these latest scandals will only make the scandals worse, as the holier than thou political class tries to grandstand for network cameras. While they do, they will be wasting more taxpayer dollars. They should know that the witnesses they have summoned will be properly advised not to testify until they are charged and the charges have been resolved, or they have immunity, or they know they are in the clear. In recent memory, only former New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine has testified and denied allegations against him before they have been filed, and he may soon be indicted not for what he did in private, but for what he said about it in public.
Meanwhile, a few blocks away, the government is wasting even more of our tax dollars by prosecuting the most intimidating baseball pitcher in a generation for lying to a congressional committee consisting in part of professional liars; all this about the contents of his blood and urine.
Does the government even realize how wasteful and lawless it is?

Food Stamp Rolls to Grow Through 2014, CBO Says

WSJ ^ | April 19, 2012 | Damian Paletta

The Congressional Budget Office said Thursday that 45 million people in 2011 received Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, a 70% increase from 2007. It said the number of people receiving the benefits, commonly known as food stamps, would continue growing until 2014.

Spending for the program, not including administrative costs, rose to $72 billion in 2011, up from $30 billion four years earlier. The CBO projected that one in seven U.S. residents received food stamps last year.
In a report, the CBO said roughly two-thirds of jump in spending was tied to an increase in the number of people participating in the program, which provides access to food for the poor, elderly, and disabled. It said another 20% “of the growth in spending can be attributed to temporarily higher benefit amounts enacted in the” 2009 stimulus law.

Feminist group renews campaign to silence Limbaugh

Daily Caller ^ | 4/19/2012 | Carolyn May

The National Organization for Women (NOW) is attempting, once again, to do what no other group has been able to accomplish — get radio giant Rush Limbaugh off the air.

On Thursday, the women’s advocacy group announced a renewed protest campaign —”Enough Rush” — to bring Limbaugh down.

“He is going to be whining and calling us out about his First Amendment rights” Terry O’Neill, president of NOW, told The Daily Caller about how she expects Limbaugh to react to their campaign.

“There is nothing in the Constitution that says Rush Limbaugh gets $38 million a year for being on a radio show.”

The group, which Limbaugh often jokingly refers to as the NAGs (“National Organization of Gals”), is rallying their chapters for a day of protest on May 18th.

Brian Glicklich, Limbaugh’s spokesman, told TheDC that his audience will not be driven away by the group’s efforts.
“Every organization that has tried to censor Rush Limbaugh has failed because his audience won’t stand for being told by agenda-driven activists what speech is acceptable,” Glicklich explained. “NOW has been attempting to silence ideas they dislike for a long time; this is nothing new, and has no more integrity or honesty today than ever.”
While Limbaugh has weathered many campaigns to silence him, NOW hopes to accomplish the thus-far Sisyphean task by bringing their frustrations to local stations and advertisers.
Women For Women Int'lOne Woman Can Change Anything. Many Women Can Change Everything. womenforwomen.org
“Different chapters are going to be doing different things. You might see some chapters picketing a local radio station,” O’Neill said. “But I think mostly what the chapters are doing is finding the local advertisers that advertise at the local level during the Rush Limbaugh Show and urging them to think twice about where they put their money.”
Glicklich noted that NOW is using the campaign to raise money.
“It’s instructive and telling that NOW added a ‘donate’ button to their website to ‘support their campaign,’” Glicklich pointed out, adding that “they have a store, too. Selling T-shirts.”
Indeed, many other campaigns against Limbaugh have failed, but O’Neill believes NOW’s effort has the potential for success, especially in the wake of Limbaugh’s comments about Georgetown Law student and contraception advocate Sandra Fluke.
“He spent three days not only attacking [Fluke] personally, but doing so in a way that was actually threatening,” O’Neill explained. “When he demanded to see video tape of her having sex, that crosses the line into fantasizing about pornography and violence. So this latest is very different.
“Now he says he has weathered the storm and we’ll just have to see if he is right. I don’t think he has,” she added. “I think it is definitely a long-term project but his brand of hate, I think, A) Has finally gone too far and B) I think the American people are really just not interested in that anymore.”
Limbaugh has apologized for his comments about Fluke.
O’Neill added that she expects push back from Limbaugh on his show

Obama Takes the Low Road

Townhall.com ^ | April 20, 2012 | Donald Lambro

WASHINGTON - It should be clear by now that Barack Obama will not be running for a second term based on his record over the past four years.

After presiding over the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression, with a wreckage of still high unemployment, reduced incomes, increased poverty and continuing home foreclosures in his wake, Obama's re-election campaign won't be running "morning in America" ads this year.
The kind of campaign he will be running became clear in his campaign speech at a community college in Ohio Wednesday when he leveled this personal jab at former governor Mitt Romney: "I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth."
It was a dirty, below the belt accusation unbecoming of the high office to which he was elected.
For the record, The Washington Post points out that Romney and his wife "did not inherit their wealth." He earned his fortune by working at Bain Capital as a venture capital investor who took small start-up businesses and turned them into successful, job creating enterprises.
With Obama's job approval scores running in the mid 40s, and trailing Romney in the polls, the president and his advisers believe his only chance to avoid becoming a one term president is to take the low road. In fact, as low as possible.
He knows he can't run on stronger economic growth and plenty of jobs. Not with the economic growth rate at a mediocre 2 percent or less, or with an unemployment and underemployment rate of 15 percent.
Four years after the recession started, "there are still 24 million Americans unemployed or underemployed. That includes 5.6 million who are long-term unemployed for 27 weeks, or more than 6 months, the highest since the Great Depression," writes economist Peter Ferrara.
He can't run on cutting the monster $1 trillion budget deficits in half, or reducing the government's ballooning $15 trillion debt as he promised in 2008. His budget deficit this year will hit another $1.2 trillion and the debt will climb to $16 trillion by December, says the Congressional Budget Office.
He has no plan to rein in spending and put the nation's fiscal house in order, and the Democrats who control the Senate have refused to act on a budget for the third year in a row.
Meantime, he remains a disinterested bystander in the budget stalemate, preferring to demagogue the House-passed Republican budget for political gain. hurling one charge after another that are patently untrue.
The House budget sets overall spending limits for broad areas of the government and then appropriations panels will write specific funding bills for each department, agency and program within those limits. But first a budget must be passed.
In his campaign speeches, Obama has been applying the broad spending limits to specific programs of his choosing, estimating huge cuts for job training, poverty programs and student loans when no such cuts have been proposed.
"There is not a single statistic in the president's speech that is accurate," House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan told the Heritage Foundation Wednesday.
"It's hard to compete with somebody who is not anchored in the truth," Ryan said.
Moreover, Obama hasn't had much to say about his widely unpopular health care law, either, even though it's the centerpiece of his domestic agenda.
But there growing evidence that it is forcing employers to jettison their health care plans and has been driving up the cost of existing health care premiums.
Remember when Obama promised that "you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what"?
Well, a McKinsey & Company survey of 1,300 employer plans found that 45 to 50 percent of businesses say they will definitely or probably seek other alternatives to employer sponsored plans once the law takes effect in 2014.
Democratic Sen. James Webb of Virginia was sharply critical of the president's handling of the health care reform law this week, saying it will be his biggest liability in his up hill bid to carry Webb's swing state in November.
"Obama's had a difficult time selling himself as a decisive leader," Webb told Bloomberg News.
So Obama has chosen class warfare, demagoguery and personal attacks on Romney's self-made success as his key campaign strategies.
He's been campaigning for an anti-investment, 30 percent tax surcharge on millionaires and billionaires that he says is all about fairness. The tax failed in the Senate this week, but he intends to continue his crusade against the wealthy, conveniently ignoring the fact that the richest 10 percent of earners pay about 70 percent of all federal income taxes.
"But let's take a step back.Where in this is a plan to accelerate [economic] growth and job creation?" asks Jennifer Rubin, the Washington Post's "Right Turn" blogger. "How does creating a new minimum tax for 4,000 taxpayers assist in the recovery?"
Exactly. It doesn't.
Obama's out there talking about "fairness" when the hard times we're still experiencing under his policies cry out for growth, jobs, business expansion and new start-ups that come from, well, investors with money that he wants spent here on bigger government.
That's what Obama will be attempting to sell in his low road campaign for four more years: a fatter, richer, more costly government to make us even more dependent on its largesse.
And if he is able to divide Americans with this scurrilous class warfare, anti-wealth creation campaign, he will succeed.

Obama is named gun ‘salesman of the year’

washtimes ^ | 4/19/12 | b devaney

The Obama years have proved to be a boon to the nation’s gun industry, which has posted strong gains in jobs, sales, economic impact and taxes paid in the teeth of an economic downturn.

The economic impact of the firearms and ammunition industry - a figure that includes jobs, taxes and sales - hit $31 billion in 2011, up from $19 billion in 2008, according to a survey released Thursday by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). Background check requests for firearms purchases set records in 2010 and 2011, according to FBI data.

Jobs in the firearms business jumped 30 percent from 2008 to 2011, when the industry employed 98,750. The industry paid $2.5 billion in federal taxes in 2011, up 66 percent in three years.

Some in the industry attribute the jump in sales in no small part to fears - fed in part by leading gun lobbies - that the Obama administration will tighten gun control laws if the president wins re-election.

“There’s a concern that in the second term the Obama administration would lead an attempt to restrict gun ownership,” said NSSF Senior Vice President Lawrence G. Keane.

Dem Governor Bashes Romney for Polygamist Roots – Forgets About Obama’s Polygamist DAD!

Gateway Pundit ^ | April 20,2012 | Jim Hoft

On Thursday Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer decided to go after Romney’s family history regarding polygamy stating Hispanics would not approve of such a history. So it is only fair to point out that President Obama’s family has a history of polygamy and bigamy as well. Yet the majority of Hispanics voted for President Obama in 2008.

The Washington Post reported:

“The line of polygamists in Obama’s family can be traced back generations in western Kenya, where it was an accepted practice within the Luo (pronounced LOO-oh) tribe.” His great-grandfather, Obama Opiyo, had five wives, including two who were sisters. His grandfather, Hussein Onyango, had at least four wives, one of whom, Akumu, gave birth to the president’s father, Barack Obama” before fleeing her abusive husband. Obama Sr. was already married when he left Kenya to study at the University of Hawaii, where he married again. His American wife-to-be, Stanley Ann Dunham, was not yet 18 and unaware of his marital situation when she became pregnant with his namesake son in 1961.
It is also well known that Democrat Senator from New Mexico, Tom Udall, and his cousin, Senator Mark Udall (D) from Colorado, come from a long line of polygamists. But that was never an issue because they are Democrats. Mens Journal reported:
In the Udall family, politics stretches back generations. Mark’s and Tom’s great-grandfather, David King Udall, was a pioneer Arizonan and a Mormon polygamist who was sent to federal prison (on testimony of an ancestor of Mitt Romney’s, family lore has it). He was pardoned by President Grover Cleveland, then tossed back in jail. This time, it was Barry Goldwater’s grandfather who got him off the hook.
It’s only ever an issue if the politician is Republican.

Paul Ryan goes national

Politico ^ | 4-20-12 | John Bresnahan & Jake Sherman

Rep. Paul Ryan is constantly brushing off questions about running for national office, deflecting inquiries as he puts his head down and turns up the volume on his ever present iPod.
But as his public profile has soared, Ryan has quietly built a national political operation that’s flush with cash and designed to defend himself and his party against attacks.
Ryan spent more than $1.6 million in direct mail since the beginning of 2011 spreading his fiscally conservative budget message across the country. He has $5 million in cash in his reelection campaign coffers — a colossal sum for a House member. The donations come from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, according to campaign finance records, rare national reach for a House member.
Sources close to Ryan say this national apparatus has been built to defend him and the Republican Party against attacks on his sweeping, controversial plan to overhaul the federal budget. But it certainly doesn’t hurt to have this kind of impressive operation in the works if Ryan gets tapped as vice president — or if he wants to make a national run himself in the future.
Ryan’s political machine — and his goal of defending a budget that has been shredded by Democrats and the Obama White House — shows the pluses and minuses in Mitt Romney selecting Ryan as a running mate.
The upside: Ryan is universally liked and respected within his party, is a stalwart conservative, can raise serious money and is considered a policy visionary among GOP opinion makers. Inside the House Republican Conference, Ryan has something of a cult following. A senior Republican aide said “everybody wants Paul Ryan on stage with them” at fundraising events in their districts.
