Schumer And Dem Leadership Team Refuse To Meet With Gorsuch

Daily Caller ^ | 02/02/2017 | Kerry Picket

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other Democratic Senate leaders refused to meet with Judge Neil Gorsuch Thursday.

The act appears to be an act of revenge against Republicans for holding the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia open and not holding a hearing for Obama Supreme Court appointee Merrick Garland.

The White House requested that Gorsuch meet with Schumer, but aides said he declined in order to learn more about the nominee’s record, The Washington Post reported.

“By refusing to meet with Judge Gorsuch, Senate Democratic leadership is taking Washington gridlock and obstruction to a new low and placing Senators McCaskill, Donnelly, Heitkamp, Tester, and other Democrats up for reelection in 2018 on the endangered politicians list,” Carrie Severino, chief counsel of the Judicial Crisis Network, said in a statement.

At Border Patrol, Trump lifts morale that was at an all-time low!

Fox News ^ | February 2, 2017 | Joseph J. Kolb

A thick fog recently blanketed the U.S.-Mexico border along Imperial Beach, Calif., a prime opportunity for border crossers to probe vulnerabilities in both the fence and the beleaguered agency patrolling it.
In SUVs or ATVs, Border Patrol agents with video surveillance equipment and binoculars spent hours, as they do every day, scanning the hilly and treacherous terrain that connects Tijuana, Mexico, to Southern California to try and prevent anyone trying to illegally cross the border.
By the next morning, the processing rooms at the U.S. Border Patrol Imperial Beach Station were filled with men. They included two men from Turkey who washed up onshore on surfboards and wearing wetsuits. Federal agents spent hours that morning questioning nearly a dozen detained men who were suspected of being from Pakistan.
It’s just a snapshot of what happens every day along the busy San Diego sector of the U.S. Border. Agents say they are doing all they can to protect the border, but for years have found themselves in a losing battle against a well-financed and sophisticated network of smugglers.
"We are undermanned and there are revisions and renovations that need to be made in the infrastructure along the border," says Chris Harris, a veteran Border Patrol agent and director of legislative and political affairs for the National Border Patrol Council.
Agents hope all that changes under President Donald Trump.
Harris said the unprecedented support the agency has received from Trump will reinvigorate an agency that has for years been hampered by inadequate funding, dismal resources and seesaw policy changes.
On January 25, Trump laid out a forceful yet controversial border security policy through a series of executive orders that included suspending “catch and release,” moving forward on building a border wall and pledging to hire 5,000 more federal agents.
The move drew...

Why Are Progressives So Angry? Trump Defeated Their Messiah!

The Federalist ^ | 2/1/17 | John Daniel Davidson

The outrage and hysteria over Trump should confirm what should have been obvious during the Obama years: progressives have turned politics into a religion.
...
The obstinacy of Senate Democrats reflects the mood of their progressive base, whose panicked anger is the natural reaction of those for whom politics has become an article of faith. Progressives, as the terms implies, believe society must always be progressing toward something better. Always forward, never backwards. After eight years of Obama, they believed progressive politics in America would forever be on an upward trajectory. The Left Has Been Moralizing Politics For A Long Time
Trump shook that faith. But his election also unmasked the degree to which progressivism as a political project is based not on science or rationality, or even sound policy, but on faith in the power of government to ameliorate and eventually perfect society. All the protests and denunciations of Trump serve not just as an outlet for progressives’ despair, but the chance to signal their moral virtue through collective outrage and moral preening—something that wasn’t really possible under Obama, at least not to this degree.
...
That progressive politics should carry the force of religious belief should not come as a surprise. For the Left, politics holds the promise of paradise on earth. Through the instrument of government, progressives believe they can right the world’s wrongs, punish the wicked, feed the hungry, outlaw bigotry, and perhaps even save the earth from climate change. All they need is control of government and sound policies. If everything that matters is at stake, then everything is justified in the pursuit of political power.

NAACP Chapter Led By Embezzler Is Overseen By Convicted Murderer

Daily Caller ^ | Luke Rosiak

A high-ranking NAACP official convicted of murder threatened to “fire back” if The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group (TheDCNF) reported that a new branch president under his oversight embezzled from the previous nonprofit that he ran.
Gerald Hankerson, president of the Alaska, Oregon and Washington State regional NAACP, told TheDCNF he wasn’t “authorizing” the disclosure because it “strikes a blow to the NAACP by indicating that we allow criminals at the leadership.”
Hankerson himself was sentenced to life in prison for aggravated murder and spent 23 years in prison before being granted leniency because he, in the governor’s words, “accepted full responsibility of his conduct,” but now claims he is innocent.
The DCNF reported Thursday that the Anchorage, Alaska, branch of the NAACP in November elected Kevin McGee, who had been convicted of using his previous position as president of a government employees union to steal from, as a court document put it, “the very people he was supposed to represent.” In a victim impact statement, the union called McGee “an opportunistic thief who has shown no remorse.”
TheDCNF inquired whether Hankerson’s regional umbrella group, which oversees all the NAACPs in that corner of the country, was aware of the precarious situation, or whether McGee had hoodwinked members.
Hankerson acknowledged that McGee’s election could seem like “hiring a bank robber to run a bank,” but said he knew about McGee’s history in advance and did not have a problem with it. “Why would so many people feel comfortable” electing him if they held it against him, he said.
In his own case, Hankerson in 2009 successfully petitioned the governor to be released and put on parole. But he still wasn’t happy, arguing it was “problematic” that he had to avoid further violating the law or parole or else return to prison.
So Hankerson later used his new position as a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People official to ask for a pardon from the new governor that would removing those restrictions.
In an interview, Hankerson, like McGee, offered conflicting explanations, waffling between saying that he deserved a second chance because he had turned away from a sinful past, and denying personal responsibility, claiming his innocence.
Hankerson has been portrayed as a poster child for “forgiveness” and “redemption,” but he claimed to TheDCNF he “didn’t do it,” citing the successful appeal to the governor’s compassion as evidence. “That’s what a pardon does, bro. That mean I didn’t do it.”
Asked whether Nai Vang Saeturn, the 25-year old killed as part of a robbery outside a liquor store, would agree that executive action altered the facts, he said “you’re not going to be able to find him.”
Though he has publicly touted bridge-building, he told a reporter whose job is uncovering fraud that he was inspired to be president of the NAACP because of anger at “people like you” and because “they falsely convict black people.”
As for why potential Alaska donors should feel comfortable that their money was in good hands given McGee’s history, and asked how much money McGee was in charge of, Hankerson claimed his NAACP chapters don’t disclose their finances. Told that federal tax law generally requires nonprofits to do so, Hankerson responded by saying “take it up with the IRS.”
Hankerson said it shouldn’t matter what McGee did “20, 30 years ago,” but when reminded that McGee’s conviction was in 2010, said a white person isn’t capable of judging how short or long seven years was.
“For a black man that’s a long time,” he said.
Hankerson reportedly still calls himself “9-0,” a nickname given to him by members of the Crips gang with whom he associated in jail, and railed against a city requirement that officials see evidence that programs local taxpayers fund help the intended beneficiaries.
That money “should be ours,” he said. “We got to create our own s–t

Turnbull humiliated for thinking he could outsmart Donald Trump, Andrew Bolt writes

Hearld Sun ^ | 2/02/2017 | Andrew Bolt

MALCOLM Turnbull thought he could outsmart Donald Trump and trap him into taking 1250 of our boat people.
Huge mistake, and now he’s been humiliated.
There is no surprise that an angry Trump attacked Turnbull in their call at the weekend and hung up halfway through, after just 25 minutes.
What did Turnbull expect?
This political disaster was always on the cards from the moment Turnbull announced, on November 13 last year, that he’d signed a deal with then US president Barack Obama to take our boat people detained on Nauru and Manus Island.
That was very dumb because just five days earlier Trump had been unexpectedly elected the next president, having campaigned hard against exactly this kind of thing.
Trump had made it perfectly clear that he was against taking in alleged refugees from jihadist countries without at least “extreme vetting”. Turnbull knew this. In fact, he’d planned to announce his Obama arrangement early this year, but after Trump’s win rushed it forward in an apparent attempt to present Trump with a fait accompli — a done-deal the new President would not dare undo.
Trump had no choice but to back off. The Post had reported him accusing Turnbull of wanting to send him more “Boston bombers”, and he could hardly now tell the American voters he was happy to take them.
So Trump instead tweeted: “Do you believe it? The Obama Administration agreed to take thousands of illegal immigrants from Australia. Why? I will study this dumb deal!”
Turnbull has a very nervous wait now to see if his boat people “solution” will survive. He’s also learned a very hard lesson: don’t try messing with Trump.

CNN Exposed By Business Insider For Faking Their Inauguration Ratings- Fake News

businessinsider ^ | Oliver Darcy

CNN conflated two statistics this week to falsely suggest that its ratings were equivalent to Fox News' during last week's coverage of President Donald Trump's inauguration.

The episode started when Trump on Tuesday congratulated Fox News on Twitter for "being number one in the inauguration ratings."

"They were many times higher than FAKE NEWS @CNN," he wrote.

CNN's public relations team responded to Trump's tweet, citing cumulative numbers from Nielsen Media Research. Cumulative numbers measure audience reach, while ratings — the statistic Trump referred to — measure the average number of people watching a given program.
"According to Nielsen cumulative numbers, 34 million people watched CNN's inauguration day coverage on television. 34 million watched Fox News," the CNN communications account said in a tweet, which was shared thousands of times and became the basis of several news stories.

Breaking: Trump Just Ordered Gowdy and Chaffetz Back on Clinton Case to “Go After Everything”

conservativedailypost.com ^ | Feb 1, 2017 | Matthew Bernstein

You are sure to recall that during the presidential election, there was a lot of talk about Hillary Clinton and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. This is a committee that is designed to go after government officials that have broken the law. Notably, Trey Gowdy and Jason Chaffetz reside on this board, and are well-known for their vicious work during the Clinton case.

The case? Hillary put the entire nation in jeopardy with her decision to use a private email server, delete thousands and thousands of emails despite being told not to, and involved the State Department in several pay to play schemes through her Clinton Foundation.

In other words, she is someone that should be spending her time in a jail cell. Several people were concerned that her case would be dropped moving into the New Year. However those fears have now vanished.

Jason Chaffetz is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and has just announced that President Donald Trump instructed him and the Committee to pursue every available avenue they deem appropriate. Trump has made it clear that putting the safety of the American people at risk like Hillary did is well deserving of punishment.

Chaffetz said that the conversation between President Trump and himself took place after the 2017 GOP retreat in Philadelphia. This was also his second time ever speaking with the president in person.

The Utah Republican spoke to the committee saying, “He came up to me and said, ‘you do a great job. You do a great job,’ which of course I agreed with. Then he said, ‘listen, I understand that I am the President. You have a job to do. You do oversight. Don’t slow down. You go after everything you want to go after. You look at everything you want to look at.’”

President Trump made it clear during the debates that he was going to appoint a special prosecutor in the case against Hillary Clinton. Newsflash: that time has now come.

Chaffetz continued, “If you sat there and heard what he said to me about pursuing oversight of the government and the function that we fulfill, you’d be pretty inspiring, and it was inspiring to me. For him to convey the message, ‘don’t slow down, do your job, there’s a lot to get after with the government,’ I think that’s a good message.”

Again, this is just adding to the fact that Hillary is going to face some serious battles with the House Oversight Committee. Chaffetz has already said that he will continue to investigate her use of a primary email server while in charge of the State Department.

“Just because there was a political election doesn’t mean it goes away.” He also called the classified emails that surfaced on the server “the largest breach of security in the history of the State Department.”

If you couple that with all the WikiLeaks emails that had come out during the days leading up to the election, you can clearly see that Hillary was using this to gain a political advantage. A lot of people that were donating to her Foundation did so because she had promised some sort of political favor.

Again, she put the security of the country at risk because of her decision to use a private server. Not only did she do that, but she actively tried to say that it wasn’t a big deal as other people had done that, like Colin Powell.

No, Powell used a personal email account that was used for unclassified materials, like lunch runs or anything related to that. Hillary actively put the safety and security of the country at risk because of her decision, and she should suffer the consequences for it.

Actions have consequences, and putting the safety of the nation at risk is a pretty big action. Therefore, it requires a big consequence. The other thing to realize is that there is no way that Hillary can be saved. There were fears that former President Barack Obama would have pardoned Hillary over this. Now that he is out of office, there is no way that she can be saved. We’re finally going to see justice!

Also, one of Hillary and Bill Clinton’s global foundations was shut down mere months after she lost the election. That is just further proof that she was using it as a way to get political favors. Now that she isn’t in office, how can she promise those favors?

Not to mention that Hillary’s other foundation is still being investigated by the FBI in several different states. There is a lot going on for the former Secretary of State, and absolutely none of them are any good for her. I wouldn’t be surprised if the FBI placed charges against her for her “charity.”

Secret Service agent who said she wouldn’t take a bullet for Trump is on PAID Leave

Conservative Tribune ^ | February 2, 2017

While President Donald Trump has tried to promote a message of unity since his Election Night victory in 2016, many people who work within the government have been less than charitable about him.
One such person was a Colorado Secret Service agent who allegedly wrote a post on Facebook implying that she wouldn’t take a bullet for Trump — and who was then placed on paid leave, Fox News reported.
Kerry O’Grady, the special agent in charge of the agency’s Denver bureau, wrote on Facebook in October 2016 that Trump would be horrible for America, expressed her support for Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and said, “Hatch Act be damned” — a reference to the law that prohibits people like herself from engaging in political activity.
“I would take jail time over a bullet or an endorsement for what I believe to be disaster to this country and the strong and amazing women and minorities who reside here. Hatch Act be damned. I am with Her,” she wrote.
So a Secret Service agent implies that she would rather see the president of the United State be gunned down than do her job, and the only thing that happens to her is paid leave?
Well, she might just get her wish for jail time.
If a Secret Service agent had said this about Obama, the racially-charged mobs would still be calling for his/her prosecution and the agent probably would have been fired on the spot.
The Washington Examiner noted that the paid leave indicated that the Secret Service was taking the investigation of the agent seriously — though it didn’t explain why action wasn’t taken sooner.
The Hill noted that O’Grady would have been the agent who coordinated presidential trips to the Denver area, so her suggestion that she wouldn’t protect the president was quite serious.
It’s utterly ridiculous that while this agent is being investigated she is still being paid. The agency should have suspended her without pay while investigating her post. Our tax dollars shouldn’t support someone who will openly proclaim that she won’t do her job.

Ex-Obama Official Suggests ‘Military Coup’ Against Trump!

Breitbart ^ | 2 Feb 2017 | by AARON KLEIN

In a blog post for Foreign Policy magazine, Rosa Brooks, a former Obama administration official, outlined four ways to “get rid” of President Trump, including declaring him mentally unfit for command or carrying out a military coup. Brooks is a Schwartz senior fellow at the New America Foundation, which is funded by billionaire George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. She served from 2009-2011 as Counselor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and served as a senior adviser at Obama’s State Department.
Her posting is titled “3 Ways to Get Rid of President Trump Before 2020,” although the piece actually outlines four ways.
In what seems to be a deliberate tactic, Brooks repeatedly questions Trump’s mental stability, claiming that the president’s first week in office “has made it all too clear: Yes, he is as crazy as everyone feared.”
Brooks, who is not a mental health professional, offered no evidence for her armchair psychological evaluation other than citing policies that she doesn’t like.

Fed Employees Coordinate With Obama Officials To Thwart Trump Initiatives

dailycaller.com ^ | 2/1/2017 | Chris White

Federal employees are working closely with former Obama administration officials to thwart future President Donald Trump’s policies and initiatives, according to a report published by The Washington Post.
Federal workers regularly consult with Obama-era political appointees about ways they can push back and potentially stymie Trump’s initiatives, according to the report.
Dozens of federal workers attended a support group last weekend for civil servants seeking a place to hash out their issues with the Trump administration. Nearly 200 or more federal employees, many of whom worked for the Obama administration, have signed up for workshops meant to train people in ways to safely engage in civil disobedience.
Trump’s decision to fire acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday for refusing to implement the president’s refugees ban “sends kind of a chilling effect through the agency,” said John O’Grady, a career EPA employee who heads up agency unions.
“I’m afraid at this point that many federal employees are just fearful for their jobs, and they want to keep their heads down.”
