Strange things you can buy in vending machines

News Limited ^ | July 9, 2017 | Michelle Tchea

YOU can now eat gourmet vending machine food. No longer limited to packets of chips and a can of coke, machines around the world now dispense farm-fresh produce, caviar, and even bottles of Moet.
And if you’ve got a bit of extra cash to throw around, why not buy some gold ... or even a brand new Ferrari from a vending machine?
Here are our favourites.
Location: Gold Coast, Las Vegas, and Selfridges in London.
What you get: The Star Gold Coast’s Garden Kitchen & Bar is the first venue in Australia with a champagne vending machine by Moet & Chandon. Think you need a glass? Drink the bubbly through a gold sipper on the bottle if you are truly desperate and can’t wait for the bartender to bring you your glasses. Yours for just $29 each. Cheers.
Sex Toys
Location: Philadelphia
What you get: A Philadelphia-based vending machine company, PinkBox believes ‘sex should be exciting, fun and safe’. Don’t be shy, pick up condoms, Lelo vibrators, glass dildos and even restraint kits to help make your business a ‘better place’ says PinkBox. Prices start at $4 to $99. Each product is curated and hand-picked by the resident PinkBox sex-expert, so you know you’re getting the best.
Location: Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, but of course.
What you get: Gold to Go thought they were on to something when they first launched a vending machine exclusively selling gold in vending machines. Rumour has it, the machines are slowly being removed because no one is really investing in gold anymore, which is a shame, but we like the idea of encouraging novice gold investors to invest in a cool $1000 gold bar during a vay-cay in Dubai. Why not?[continued]

Trump officials signal intent to begin refilling Guantanamo (right -on)

The Hill ^ | July 8, 2017 | Rebecca Kheel

The Trump administration appears to be making its first moves toward fulfilling a campaign promise to fill the Guantanamo Bay prison camp with “bad dudes.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein visited the prison on Friday to get an update on current operations, the first concrete action the administration has taken on the facility since taking office.
Up until now, Guantanamo has been running on autopilot; the executive order from former President Obama calling for the facility to be shut down is still technically the law of the land.
But President Trump promised during the campaign to “load it up with some bad dudes,” and Sessions has called it a “very fine place” with no legal reason not to send new detainees there.
Supporters of keeping the facility open and sending new detainees there are confident Trump will fulfill that promise, even if little movement has been made.
“We have taken off the table the silly ideas that the previous administration had about Guantanamo,” said David Rivkin, constitutional litigator and a fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies who served under Presidents Reagan and George H. W. Bush in the White House counsel’s office and the Justice Department.
Obama, having failed in his efforts to close the facility, left Guantanamo with 41 detainees. Five of those detainees were cleared for transfer by either the interagency Guantanamo Review Task Force set up in 2009 or the interagency Periodic Review Boards set up in 2011.
Shortly after Trump’s inauguration, various draft executive orders floated around Washington that would have moved to fulfill Trump campaign promise to begin sending new prisoners to the facility.
The orders would have revoked Obama’s executive order and suspended any existing transfer efforts pending a new review. They also would have called for the continued operation of Guantanamo to hold and try members of al Qaeda, the Taliban and “associated forces,” including the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
But no such orders have been signed.
In the meantime, the processes in place at Guantanamo have churned on. The Periodic Review Boards have held handful of hearings since the inauguration, though nobody new has been cleared for transfer; the military commissions trying the 9/11 defendants are proceeding with pre-trial hearings; and the men who were challenging their detention with habeas corpus cases continue to do so.
“It’s really business as usual at Guantanamo,” said Wells Dixon, a lawyer at the Center for Constitutional Rights who is representing some detainees.
The Justice Department framed Sessions and Rosenstein’s visit as a way to get updated on how the facility is working.
“In addition to the Department of Justice's role in handling detainee-related litigation, it is important for the Department of Justice to have an up-to-date understanding of current operations,” department spokesman Ian Prior said in a statement. “The purpose of the trip is to gain that understanding by meeting with the people on the ground who are leading our government-wide efforts at GTMO.”
But the statement also mentioned recent terrorist attacks in Europe and elsewhere, which have been carried out by ISIS.
“Keeping this country safe from terrorists is the highest priority of the Trump administration,” Prior said. “Recent attacks in Europe and elsewhere confirm that the threat to our nation is immediate and real, and it remains essential that we use every lawful tool available to prevent as many attacks as possible.”
Sessions has long supported keeping the facility open and earlier this year said he see no legal reason not to send new terrorism suspects there.
“I’ve been there a number of times as a senator, and it’s just a very fine place for holding these kind of dangerous criminals,” Sessions said in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. “
Asked by Hewitt what his advice to Trump would be if new combatants are captured, Session said he would recommend sending them to Guantanamo.
“There’s plenty of space,” he said. “We are well equipped for it. It’s a perfect place for it. Eventually, this will be decided by the military rather than the Justice Department. But I see no legal problem whatsoever with doing that.”
But many legal experts have argued that sending ISIS fighters to Guantanamo could prove risky, since the authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) that is being used to justify indefinite law of war detention does not name ISIS.
Dixon said he and his colleagues are prepared to challenge the legality of detaining suspected ISIS fighters the moment one arrives at Guantanamo.
“We are awaiting the arrival of suspected ISIS fighters at Guantanamo so that we can represent them and challenge the application of AUMF,” he said.
In the meantime, Dixon said the business-as-usual pace of Guantanamo has taken a toll on the 41 detainees still there.
“The men are very aware of fact that no one has left Guantanamo since end of the Obama administration, and that takes a tremendous psychological toll,” he said. “It is torture by any reasonable measure.”
Rivkin chalked Trump’s lack of movement on Guantanamo to other issues taking precedence and needing to get the right staff in place, though he said he hasn’t talked to administration officials specifically about the issue.
He’s unconvinced by the argument that the AUMF has been the holdup and said he thinks “associated forces” is a broad enough term that a judge would rule in the government’s favor should ISIS fighters challenge their detention.
“If you get an ISIS guy, which court of appeals panel is going to suggest that he be let go,” Rivkin said. “I have every confidence that the issue will work itself out well.”

FINALLY!!! Someone raises the possibility that Russia was rooting for Hillary!!!

Fox and Friends Saturday | self

Sara Carter at about 7:30 am this morning raised the possibility that Russia might have interfered with the election to help Hillary NOT Trump.
I know that many FREEPERS have thought this since last year but what besides common sense being rare explains the paucity of this suggestion in the news?

I'd suggest that the left merely has to suggest the possibility of something and everyone runs it without question. On the right, if you don't have evidence that would hold up in court, you get attacked for even mentioning anything. Trump has experienced this already with the birth certificate debate.
Anyone else have any theories as to why the common sense things like duh, intel has been politicized so maybe we question this? Or, humm, Clapper and Brenner are the main people saying this, and their credibility is on par with Susan Rice...huh. Or even TRUMP thought Hillary would win. Wonder how the Russians picked the winning side on this? Why is no one asking this?
Here is my common sense argument to support this.
Russia DID try to influence the election but they did so to help HILLARY get elected, not Trump.
The people whom you have evidence of illegality on are the ones that you TRY to get elected. For example, China-Clinton. The Trump-Russian narrative doesn’t support this.
None of the deleted or damaging Hillary emails besides DNC or Podesta ones have surfaced suggesting people that have them like the FBI or enemies want to leverage them.
Didn’t she delete over 30,000 of them? I am going out on a limb her but I think Russia HAS these deleted emails. If they were trying to damage her, why didn’t they leak them?
But think of other Russian interests.
They would like us to remove tactical nukes from Europe.
They would like us to let the military deteriorate.
They would like us to NOT develop our energy resources. A drop in oil price would have a massive impact on Russia economically.
They would not want us to build up our military intelligence.
They would not want us to develop our military technology.
They would not want us to be secure from terrorist attacks.
On each and every one of these issues, the candidate the Russians would NOT want to get elected would be Donald Trump.
I think most people who believe this story was falsified by a politicized intel community instinctively know this, but I think it is worthwhile to state it unequivocally.
Also, who do you think Russia thought would GET elected?
Almost all news including Fox thought Hillary had an 85% or higher chance. Putin doesn't have his own people taking polls so he relies on ours.
Wouldn't it make more sense to get the goods on her and wait until she is elected before rocking the boat?

Continuing Chaos in Chicago

 US Defense Watch ^ | July 8, 2017 | Joe Ragonese

The numbers are in: 102 shot, 15 dead over the Fourth of July weekend. Not a new high, just an ongoing flow of chaos and turmoil in what was once one of the greatest cities in America. Chicago’s Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, did not create the chaos, he simply expedited it due to his radical left ideology.

Chicago’s decline is the direct result of the power of the Democrat Party in Illinois. Illinois, for all intents and purposes, is a one party state. OK, the Governor is a Republican, but powerless to change anything because the Chicago Democratic Party controls the state House of Representatives and the state Senate.
Governor Bruce Rauner, an honorable businessman, is unable to change the destructive path that the state is taking toward its own demise, because the Chicago Democratic majority will not allow change. So much so, that they haven’t had a budget in over 700 days. This year, the Democratic Party raised taxes over 32%, and passed a budget over the governor’s veto, in spite of the fact that revenues will go down due to the high taxes, which makes Illinois the highest taxed state in the union. The agencies that issue bond ratings are in the process of changing Illinois to junk status. Bankruptcy looms as residents and businesses flee in droves from the overburdening Democrat policies.
While it has been known for years that Chicago was going down the path of self-destruction, on a scale with Detroit, Michigan, Chicago politicians refused to veer from that path due to partisan politics, massive corruption, and simply because they can. Being a one party city, no one can stop them.
The big difference between Chicago and Detroit is that once one gets out of the City of Detroit, the state leaned more conservative. That conservative bent saved the state from being taken down with the City of Detroit. Today, Detroit has a chance of redemption, thanks to Republican law makers who now control the cities purse strings.
Not so in Chicago, because Chicago controls the state. Chicago, Cook County and the metropolitan counties surrounding Chicago, most of which are Democrat, have enough population to send more representatives to the state’s governing bodies then the rest of the state combined. They control everything. That total control is socialist; which the Democratic Party is today.
Besides being socialist, Chicago politics is in a league all its own when it comes to corruption. For every dollar spent on socialist programs, two dollars goes into the pockets and purses of politicians and their friends. That is what is meant by the ‘Chicago way.’
The most important thing to note about socialist/communist forms of government is that they gain power through others’ suffering. The more they can divide the citizens, the more power the government gains over those same divided citizens. That is why the Democrat Party tries so hard to divide us into black, brown, white, male, female, gay, Hispanic, Asian, Christian, Muslim, and etc. It is by design, to obtain power over the masses.
Division among people breeds hatred. Have you ever known a progressive that was happy? Hatred breeds violence. It is why Democrats are so violent, because they are filled with hate. Just look at people who should be the happiest because they possess vast wealth, good looks, and admiring fans; entertainers, like Madonna, Merle Streep, or Ashley Judd. Since Trump was elected President their vitriolic hatred spewed out in anti-Trump rants that embarrassed them and the nation; but they couldn’t help themselves, they are alt-leftists, who hate those who love America, and everyone else except those just like them. That’s what the left has become, hateful, spiteful, acrimonious, self-serving anti-American thugs. It isn’t anything new for Democrats; it goes a long way back in history.
This writer was amused when HBO personality, Bill Maher, tried to convince his audience that conservatives are the violent ones, and that the left are soft, cuddly teddy bears.
Teddy bears like John Wilkes Booth, President Abraham Lincoln’s killer, a southern Democrat, Lee Harvey Oswald, President John F. Kennedy’s assassin, who was a devout communist and Cuba supporter. There was Sara Jane Moore, who shot President Gerald Ford because in her drug induced logic, the White House had declared war on liberals.
Dan White, a San Francisco Democrat politician who killed Harvey Milk and George Mascone, because they disagreed with him on some political point, or in 1986, a disgruntled Democrat, Patrick Sherrill, who killed 15 people in an Oklahoma post office, he is who we speak of when we talk about ‘going postal’.
More recently there was Jared Lee Loughner, who killed six and wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the MSM tried, in vein, to pass him off as a conservative riled up by talk radio. That was proven false as his own Facebook page proved that he was an avid leftist and Democratic supporter of Giffords, who was filled with hate over some slight.
Adam Lanza, a troubled young man, was a liberal Democrat, who killed his mother and 26 teachers and children in a Connecticut school because of some slight to his ego, and, of course, James Hopkinson, a violent Bernie Sanders socialist, who recently targeted Republicans in Alexandria, Virginia, because they didn’t think just like him.
This is a short list, because there are too many more examples of Democrats/liberals who use violence to spew their hatred, to place in this essay. This is not about leftist assassins, or violent thugs; rather about the out of control murder rate in Chicago. Those doing the shooting in Chicago, voted Democrat. In fact, many intimidated others to vote for Obama when he ran for office, their hatred of those who might disagree with them resolved by the gun. That is how progressives resolve issues, with violence, intimidation and punishment.
These shooters are the heart and soul of the Cook County Democratic Party. It is those very gang bangers who kill indiscriminately that Chicago’s mayor caters to. If he did not, he could not count on their votes for him, and they are the exact people who fully support his alt-left agenda.
He may pretend that he is appalled at the killings, but his policies only embolden those murderers to continue their reign of terror in Chicago’s gang ridden neighborhoods. Criminals are the beneficiaries of Democrat policies, because the left hates the police and the rule of law. God, family, honor and kindness, are anathema to Democrats.
To progressives, you obey them or suffer. They really don’t mind seeing others suffer, in fact, they encourage suffering to enhance their agenda. Rahm Emanuel was the man who said, to Obama, “Never let a crisis go to waste.” He knew that others’ suffering was a good thing to Democrats, so he abets suffering for others.
Because of Rahm’s policies, Chicago’s outrageous murder spree continues at levels that rival war torn Syrian cities. Rahm Emanuel, unlike any of his predecessors, actively undermined the Chicago Police Department, because of his Stalinist beliefs. The only police that he wants are a private political police (like the Gestapo or KGB), and that group must be entirely loyal to him to be of any value. That total lack of respect for law and order has led Chicago to become the murder capital of the world.
The Chicago Police Department is, instead of being the Gestapo, an honorable, dedicated group of men and women in blue who have the best interests of the city in mind, not Rahm’s best interest. That is why Rahm ignores the needs of the Department and undercuts it all of the time.
And that is why crime continues to be out of control in Chicago. Not the police, they are doing their best. Not President Trump, he just sent in 20 additional ATF agents to help stem the violence in the city, and not the people of Illinois, outside the city limits.
The chaos in Chicago eventually rests squarely on the shoulders of the citizens of Chicago. They vote Democrat, all the time. That vote brings them exactly what they have today, mass murder in the streets, corruption at unprecedented levels, a dying city, and the highest taxes in the United States. One would think that they would see that their problems are because of whom they vote into office, yet they do not.
Soon, Chicago will go the way of Detroit. It will be bankrupt and look much like a war zone, with dilapidated buildings and city blocks in decay. Detroit today, in spite of the promise of redemption, is a city where gangsters control each and every block. It is a city that is not safe to travel across after dark, or even in the daylight. Detroit is a failed city because it succumbed to the promise of Democrat/communist politicians.
In ten years, Detroit may have been reborn, thanks to Republican politicians in Lansing, but Chicago, and the state of Illinois with it, will be a failed experiment in Democrat policies, and the people have no one to blame but themselves.
The chaos in Chicago, after all, is a self-inflicted wound. Its only cure is amputation from those who brought it to this point, the Democrat Party. The murder rate in Chicago is only the symptom of failed politics. The chaos will not improve until the citizens of Chicago change their ways and vote for Republicans.
Real change means freedom from crime, freedom from unconscionable taxation, freedom from over regulation, freedom from corruption; and freedom of independent thought. After all, that’s what this nation was founded on, freedom. The citizens of Chicago have the freedom to vote for anyone they wish, even if it means their own demise, or they can grow up and vote for freedom.

New York Times Mourns 'Sharp Declines' In Illegal Immigration Under Trump

Newsbusters ^ | July 8, 2017 | Tim Graham, executive editor

Our friend Howard Portnoy at Liberty Unyielding found The New York Times on Monday offered the kind of story we saw a few days ago in The Washington Post: A heart-breaking tale of Donald Trump “winning” by discouraging illegal immigration. The front-page article poured out for 1,698 words under the headline “Fearful Migrants Stop Short of U.S.” Correspondent Kirk Semple began:
CHOLOMA, Honduras — His bags were packed, and the smuggler was ready. If all went well, Eswin Josué Fuentes figured he and his 10-year-old daughter would slip into the United States within days.
Then, the night before he planned to leave, he had a phone conversation with a Honduran friend living illegally in New York. Under President Trump, the friend warned, the United States was no longer a place for undocumented migrants.
Shaken, Mr. Fuentes abruptly ditched his plans in May and decided to stay here in Honduras, despite its unrelenting violence and poverty. He even passed up the $12,000 in smuggler fees that his sister in the United States had lined up for the journey.
“I got scared of what’s happening there,” Mr. Fuentes said.
While some of Mr. Trump’s most ambitious plans to tighten the border are still a long way off, particularly his campaign pledge to build a massive wall, his hard-line approach to immigration already seems to have led to sharp declines in the flow of migrants from Central America bound for the United States.
From February through May, the number of undocumented immigrants stopped or caught along the southwest border of the United States fell 60 percent from the same period last year, according to United States Customs and Border Protection — evidence that far fewer migrants are heading north, officials on both sides of the border say.
Surely, any American can feel some sympathy for wanting to escape poverty and violence in Latin America. But what this sad-sack story underlines is the New York Times are cheerleaders for illegal immigration. They are heart-broken that smugglers of illegal aliens are having a terrible time:
Migrant smugglers in Honduras say their business has dried up since Mr. Trump took office…. In hotels and shelters along the migrant trail, once-occupied beds go empty night after night.
Marcos, a migrant smuggler based near San Pedro Sula, said that last year he had taken one or two groups each month from Honduras to the United States border. Since Mr. Trump’s inauguration, however, he has had only one client. He blames Mr. Trump.
“People think he’s going to kick everyone out of the country,” Marcos said, asking that his full name not be published because of the illegal nature of his work. “Almost nobody’s going.”
This is a bitterly anti-Trump story, but one that Trump voters would eagerly cut out and post on a bulletin board. Liberal reporters go on radio and TV say the Trump voters are going to be unhappy that "nothing" has been accomplished since Trump took office. Perhaps they better read the paper again.
Semple even found the migration was going in different directions: “Instead of going to the United States, some are migrating within their own countries in search of opportunity and safety, or they are seeking to move elsewhere in Latin America and even to Europe or Asia.”
All the liberal reporters who mocked the idea that all this talk of a big wall would accomplish anything surely look a bit ridiculous. All the amnesty pushers who said you could never deport 12 million illegal immigrants should have a different idea of what “reality” can look like. All that it took for this dramatic slowdown was actual enforcement, deportations, and discouraging rhetoric?

VA employee disciplinary actions are now public information

Stars and Stripes ^

WASHINGTON — The Department of Veterans Affairs made public Friday a list of employee terminations, demotions and suspensions that it will update weekly, which agency officials said is an attempt at transparency following action by Congress to give the VA secretary unprecedented disciplinary power.

Veterans, and anyone else interested, can now see a list of disciplinary actions taken against VA employees since President Donald Trump took office Jan. 20. The list can be found at
“Veterans and taxpayers have a right to know what we’re doing to hold our employees accountable and make our personnel actions transparent,” VA Secretary David Shulkin said in written statement. “Posting this information online for all to see, and updating it weekly, will do just that.”
The Department of Veterans Affairs headquarters in Washington, D.C. STARS AND STRIPES
The list, posted online Friday, contained the occupation, VA region, the date and type of disciplinary action for approximately 800 VA employees disciplined since Jan. 20. For privacy reasons, the VA is not posting employees’ names. ADVERTISING
The initiative is part of the new VA Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection that Trump created in April with an executive order. Navy and Air Force veteran Peter O’Rourke is directing the office and advising Shulkin on the discipline of VA managers and employees.
Shulkin gained more firing authority after Trump signed legislation June 23 establishing more repercussions and a faster firing process for VA employees. Trump, Shulkin, and many veterans and supporters of the legislation said the new rules would allow the VA to root out poor-performing employees and a perceived culture of corruption in the department.

While de Blasio whined in Germany, Trump was our defender!

The New York Post ^ | July 8, 2017 | Michael Goodwin

It is a tale of two New Yorkers. Donald Trump goes to Germany to defend Western civilization and promote economic growth. Bill de Blasio goes to Germany to throw verbal Molotov cocktails and promote socialism.

One is the leader of the free world, the other is a great pretender.
The mayor was in full Putz mode as he abandoned his City Hall post to join the anarchists, socialists and violent leftists trying to disrupt the G-20 summit. In the history of low moments in New York politics, de Blasio’s stunt stands out.
His decision to join an international rabble marked by vandalism and violence to “protest” Trump, the head of his own country and a citizen of his own city, shows where the mayor’s heart is.
Politically, it’s foolish — the city needs federal cash, and biting the hand that feeds is never wise.
Yet wisdom eludes de Blasio. He came of age with a fondness for Fidel Castro and the murderous Sandinistas, and refuses to grow up.
He kept his trip a secret until he was leaving, knowing he would be denounced. So he skulked out of town in the aftermath of a police assassination, the slow-motion collapse of the subways and a record surge in homelessness.....

California Democrats are apparently suing some college Republicans for being Republicans!

Hot ^ | July 8, 2017 | Jazz Shaw

Do you recall that little dust-up out in California over the massive new gas tax they passed? It resulted in a recall effort to remove freshman state senator Josh Newman from office, along with a petition to repeal the tax hike. That prompted state Democrats to circle the wagons, going so far as to change the rules to make it much harder to gather the required signatures to recall any legislator. Normally that would be a dicey move in most other states because the same rules would be used against them, but hey… this is California. The Democrats control pretty much the entire government so they really don’t need to worry about it.
That apparently wasn’t enough for them, though. Since some of their constituents were uppity enough to actually attempt the recall, the state Democratic party decided to teach them a lesson once and for all. They’re suing a group of College Republicans for having the audacity to actually collect signatures. (Daily Wire)
Three members of the Cal State Fullerton College Republicans have been named in a lawsuit backed by the California Democratic Party in retaliation for their work to recall State Senator Josh Newman, who was the pivotal vote in support of April’s $52 Billion gas tax increase.
The Democrats’ lawsuit, which was filed in Sacramento Superior Court last Thursday, alleges that the College Republicans and other conservative activists “misled” voters in their successful signature gathering effort to recall Senator Newman. The suit names Amanda McGuire, Brooke Paz, and Ryan Hoskins (pictured below) as defendants in the suit, for volunteering their weekends to talk to constituents about the cost of Newman’s vote to the district’s taxpayers.
In keeping with the rules, opponents of the massive tax hike gathered nearly 90,000 signatures in a matter of weeks just to get the initiative moving. Since the Democrats can’t seem to stop them under the standing rules, this lawsuit must be the next best way they see to remove some players from the field and intimidate the rest.
Is it just me or does this sound like something out of a George Orwell novel? The Democrats are seeking to use the power of the judicial branch to eliminate the opposition and, very likely, frighten others into silence. And it’s all being done under the vague accusation of “misleading” the people who signed up for the proposal. The signature forms all made it clear that the purpose of the initiative was to recall Newman. And how could any volunteers discuss the issue without bringing up the tax hike, given that this was the impetus for the recall effort in the first place? If that was too confusing to some voters, leading them to think they were trying to recall the tax hike, then what of it? That’s the end goal anyway, though it takes a couple of steps to do it.
I find it hard to believe that this sort of lawsuit would gain much traction, but then again… this is California we’re talking about. Anything is possible out there as long as it fits in with the overarching liberal narrative. Thankfully there should be some sort of appeals process in place. But if they manage to get away with this then you may as well shut out the lights and let the state secede from the nation. Democracy will be pretty much toast.

John Wiley Price, Dallas Co. Commissioner, Votes Against Honoring Murdered Officers, Says They Brought It On Themselves!

Blue Lives Matter ^

Dallas, TX – Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price voted to oppose a resolution to honor murdered police officers, blaming police officers for the assassinations.

The Wednesday vote was supposed to be largely ceremonial, but gained unexpected opposition as Commissioner John Wiley Price argued that law enforcement should not be honored, according to Fox4.
“I think it’s interesting in this country how you again try to frame the narrative with regards to other people who’ve lost their life at the hands of law enforcement,” Price said. “No life is more important than any other life.”
Price said that ‘unjust police violence’ was the cause of the terrorist attacks against law enforcement, according to Fox4.
Sheriff Lupe Valdez argued that all officers killed in the line of duty deserve to be honored.
“It’s not that they died, because everybody dies. It’s how they died,” she said. “We need to continue as people in blue to make a difference so that both sides, both of us hurt when somebody dies — it’s not officers go home safely, it’s let’s all go home safely.”
Since being the only commissioner to vote against the resolution, John Wiley Price has refused to back down from his statements.
“Until we start to recognize all life, then no life is more important than any other life,” Price said.
Others have been voicing their disagreement with Price.
“It was to honor these fallen so I think he does owe the law enforcement community an apology. There’s a time and a place for everything,” Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata told Fox4. “Any other day of the week, I would agree with him. But on a day where we lost five officers who were murdered on the streets in the city of Dallas from hateful rhetoric — whether it’s from the police side of the community or the community to the police — is not the day that you do it.”
In April, prosecutors unsuccessfully prosecuted John Wiley Price, accusing him of using his public office to illegally take over $1 million. The jury deadlocked in the decision on four of the charges. Afterwards, prosecutors dropped the case.

Bob Dole: 'Strong American leadership being restored by President Trump'

Washington Examiner ^ | 07/08/2017 | Daniel Chaitin

Bob Dole heaped praise on President Trump for what he described as the restoration of "strong American leadership" put on display during his trip to Europe over the past few days.
Calling it a "successful trip" overall, Dole, a former Republican senator from Kansas who ran unsuccessfully for president in 1996, singled out Trump's speech in Warsaw, Poland, as being particularly important. In a statement Saturday, Dole described the speech from Wednesday as "one for the ages, a vital, eloquent, and stirring articulation of the values and shared goals that bind us together with the Polish people, and with millions of others around the world who seek to live in freedom."
Trump received a warm welcome in Poland, which stands in contrast to the massive protests that awaited him later in the week at the G-20 summit in Germany. In his speech Trump not only addressed NATO, of which Poland is a part, and Russia, but also spoke about defending western civilization.
"We cannot mistake the significance of Poland and the great Polish people in the history of the struggle for human liberty," Dole said. "The message was desperately needed at this time from our American president and we are grateful for it and for the manner in which he delivered it."
At the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Dole complimented Trump for completing a "number of critically important strategic meetings." The U.S. president had his first one-on-one meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has been tied to interference in the 2016 election, as well as meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May, among others.
"Americans should be proud of the strong American leadership being restored by President Trump," Dole said. "More importantly," he added, "they should be proud to live in a country that stands for the values he has so ably expressed, shared, and defended."
