Trump will use 4 real estate business tricks to rebuild the US

CNBC ^ | January 14, 2017 | Jay N. Rollins

On January 20, 2016, the country is sending a businessman to Washington in one of the riskiest bets in history. Donald Trump appears to be intent on running the country like a business enterprise. But Trump is not just a business man. He is a real estate developer, an important distinction, as it impacts how he will think about revitalizing an economy that has struggled to maintain significant growth.
Trump promises to cut both corporate and individual taxes while investing up to $1 trillion on the country's infrastructure. By simultaneously decreasing the country's revenue and increasing its expenses, Trump would be making a huge bet that the resulting growth will be substantial enough to outpace the buildup of debt, potential inflation and recession that could be the outcome if his plan fails.
Not surprisingly, this bet is reminiscent of a real estate development, of which our President-elect is very familiar - use debt to invest in a property in the hope that the improved asset will generate enough cash flow to ultimately reward the investment.
Trump's real estate background provides him with the outline for how to fix the economy...

Trump team discussing border wall with Army Corps, Interior Department

CNN Politics ^ | January 13, 2017 | Rene Marsh

President-elect Donald Trump's transition team is engaged in active discussions with the US Army Corps of Engineers and Interior Department to begin planning a wall along the Mexican border, including how specific environmental laws could get in the way, CNN has learned.
A US official with knowledge of a visit last last month to the Interior Department -- which oversees most federal lands and major environmental laws -- said the transition team was particularly interested in finding out "how long it would take" to build the wall given potential legal obstacles.
"It seems clear they were trying to size up the environmental laws that may be obstacles to building the wall," the source said.
Another US official told CNN the Trump transition team has also reached out to the Army Corps of Engineers' Southwest Division, that has previously built border security fencing, to determine what previous fencing cost and how it was constructed. The team also asked Interior several questions, including how much wall would be needed, in an effort to determine a solid number of miles of wall necessary to secure the southern border....

DON'T KID YOURSELF—DONALD TRUMP IS WINNING

Newsweak ^ | 2017-01-14 | Matthew Cooper

It would be easy to see the Trump-Obama transition as a mess for the president-elect. He continues to face criticism for his extraordinary breach of traditional financial disclosure norms, not only failing to release his taxes but making only the cursory moves toward separating himself from his businesses. Trump has had to contend with an imbroglio over an unconfirmed dossier assembled by his political opponents. His poll numbers are low for a president-elect, with only a minority Americans thinking his transition is going well. The mainstream media is shocked, shocked that many of Trump’s cabinet nominees oppose some of his policies, like a return to waterboarding and building a wall with Mexico.
And yet...Trump is getting what he wants. It’s unlikely any of his cabinet nominees will be rejected by the U.S. Senate. The most endangered among them, Rex Tillerson, the ExxonMobil CEO that Trump wants to be secretary of state, is more likely to prevail than not. Jeff Sessions, the Alabama senator who has been nominated to be attorney general, has no Republican opponents in the U.S. Senate, despite ferocious criticism from mainstream civil rights groups. Other nominees have had cordial hearings and avoided gaffes. Retired Gen James “Mad Dog” Mattis was well received by the Senate Armed Services Committee as was Retired Gen. John Kelly by the Committee on Homeland Security. They will easily become defense secretary and Homeland Security secretary, respectively. CIA Director nominee Mike Pompeo was well received.

'Bikers for Trump' to Form 'Wall of Meat' If Inauguration Protests Get Out of Hand

Fox News ^ | January 14, 2017

The founder of Bikers For Trump told "Fox & Friends" his organization will, if need be, form a "wall of meat" to protect citizens attending President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on Friday from protesters and the like.
Chris Cox said thousands of bikers from across the country are going to converge on the District of Columbia to prevent any violence or wrongdoing at the event.

Cox said he has full faith in the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington as well as the Capitol Police and U.S. Park Police, but will be standing by, should things get out of hand.
In that case, bikers will form a "wall of meet" and stand "shoulder-to-shoulder with [their] brothers and toe-to-toe with anyone" who tries to break down barriers, harass women or throw things.
He said his has ballooned to 200,000-strong only 15 months after 100 bikers held their first rally in Virginia Beach, Va.
The group will also hold a celebratory ceremony to honor veterans during the lunch recess on Inauguration Day.
That will be held in John Marshall Park, Cox said, which is a few blocks west of the Capitol on the other side of the 3rd Street Tunnel.

‘You Focus on the Good’: Women Who Voted for Trump, in Their Own Words

New York Times ^ | 01/14/2017 | SUSAN CHIRA

On Jan. 21, the day after the inauguration, women from all over the country will be rolling into Washington for what promises to be an enormous protest against Donald J. Trump. But millions of women went to the polls for Mr. Trump on Election Day, including, according to surveys, 53 percent of white women.
Why did they?

Restoring America’s Fighting Force

The Coach's Team ^ | Saturday, January 14, 2017 | Jim Emerson

The American military under Obama received less focus about preparing to fight wars than as a laboratory for social engineering. The military was ordered to integrate Homosexuals and transgenders into the ranks. The armed forces had to place its war fighting training on hold in order to adopt the “politically correct,” liberal agenda of the far left. As a result, the military has begun to lose its fighting spirit and forgotten its heritage and history.

The Obamas Regime’s “inclusive approach” has managed to minimize the expression of religion in the ranks. Officers and enlisted alike have been disciplined for displaying Bibles or quoting gospel verses. General George Washington introduced Chaplains in the American Military, modern day progressive social justice snowflakes want to drive them out. Freedom of religion is slowly being removed from Americans serving their country as they are instead being forced to worship at the altar of political correctness. Warfare is not an affirmative action project.

Placing women in special operations meant lowering the bar and despite studies proving it was a bad idea and out-of-touch with the real requirements of warfare, Washington politicians demanded the integration. How many warriors will have to die before American’s wake up to the folly of social engineering? America’s war fighters are no longer being trained to win wars. Rather, they must cater to the whims of Battle Dress Uniform-wearing snowflakes at the expense of the military’s core objective.

Time for a change

Health Care’s Bipartisan Problem: The Sick Are Expensive and Someone Has to Pay!

The Wall Street Journal ^ | January 12, 2017 | Anna Wilde Mathews and Louise Radnofsky

The 2010 health law, also known as Obamacare, forced insurers to sell coverage to anyone, at the same price, regardless of their risk of incurring big claims. That provision was popular. Not so were rules requiring nearly everyone to have insurance, and higher premiums for healthy people to subsidize the costs of the sick.

If policyholders don’t pick up the tab, who will? Letting insurers refuse to sell to individuals with what the industry calls a “pre-existing condition”—in essence, forcing some of the sick to pay for themselves—is something both parties appear to have ruled out. Insurers could charge those patients more or taxpayers could pick up the extra costs, two ideas that are politically fraught.

Most U.S. health-care spending is for a small number of very expensive patients:
  • -Most expensive 1% of patients = 21% of health care spending.
  • -Most expensive 5% = 49%
  • -Most expensive 10% = 65%
  • -Most expensive 15% = 75%
  • -Most expensive 20% = 82%
  • -Most expensive 50% = 97%

Bikers for Trump Ready to Stand up to Protesters

Fox News.com ^ | January 13, 2017

Bikers prepared to help with inauguration protests. Chris Cox of Bikers for Trump ... will help if inauguration protests get out of hand. A motorcycle group led by a South Carolina chainsaw artist will ride into the nation’s capital on Inauguration Day in support of the 45th President of the United States.
Bikers for Trump, ... motorcycle enthusiasts, will likely be toeing the line with protesters, ...“The bikers are certainly used to being outnumbered and we are prepared to form a wall of meat,” [said] Chris Cox -snip-
“We’re anticipating a celebration here. We don’t anticipate any problems. We have a strict code of conduct where we don’t condone violence....in the event that we’re needed, you can certainly count on the Bikers for Trump,” Cox said.
... “The backbone of the biker community is the veteran... guys that aren’t really used to backing down. You certainly won’t see bikers out there screaming, calling for destruction of private property or the death of police officers.”
[They] support the President-elect because he is not an establishment politician and ... his outspoken nature on the issues that concern them most.
“The bikers looked for someone who was going to stand up and call it what it is,” Cox explained. “Radical Islam is one of the biggest talking points of Bikers for Trump. Illegal immigration and one of our sweet spots is getting behind the American veteran. We believe it’s incumbent upon all who understand the value and the sacrifice of our servicemen and women that we are there for them. And we’ve got to change these policies now.”
According to Cox, the bikers’ rally at John Marshall Park will begin “shortly after Donald Trump exits the stage to go into the Capitol. And it will end shortly before the parade on Pennsylvania Ave.”

Trump's team releases list of performers at next week's inauguration

Los Angeles Times ^ | 01/13/2017 | Libby Hill

After weeks of speculation, Donald Trump’s inaugural committee has shared its list of performers for next week’s celebrations.
Country music star Toby Keith, rock band 3 Doors Down and patriotic staple Lee Greenwood join a roster that includes “America’s Got Talent” runner-up Jackie Evancho, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Bruce Springsteen cover band the B Street Band and the Radio City Rockettes.
“I’m honored to be part of history again and sing for President-elect Donald Trump,” said Greenwood, best known for his signature song “God Bless the USA.” “This is a time to overcome challenges in our country and band together.”

“President-elect Trump has made it clear that this inaugural is of, by, and for the American people,” committee chairman Tom Barrack said in a statement released Friday. “The 58th Inaugural will celebrate American history and heritage, while setting the course to a brighter and bolder future for all Americans.
“Above all,” Barrack continued, “it will serve as tribute to one of our greatest attributes, the peaceful transition of partisan power.”
Next week’s festivities strike a different tone than President Obama’s inaugural celebrations, which included appearances by Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor.
But performing for Trump comes with its own risks and challenges.
Tony Award winner Jennifer Holliday was included in Friday’s official announcement as a scheduled performer, sparking criticism from fans.
Holliday’s publicist, Bill Carpenter, told the Wrap, “Jennifer has been asked to perform, but she hasn’t officially agreed to do so yet.”
Evancho, 16, has been under fire in the weeks since her participation was announced.

Has Political Correctness Gone off the Rails in America?

http://www.spiegel.de ^ | 1/5/17 | Philipp Oehmke

Few terms are as divisive in today's United States as "political correctness." A concept that was intended to create greater freedom in the country may instead have resulted in the opposite. It also helped strengthen the right wing.
It's a Friday afternoon in Oberlin, Ohio, around one month before the country heads to the polls to elect Donald Trump as its next president. The final classes and lectures of the week have just ended, and a young woman comes walking by in bare feet with a hula hoop gyrating around her waist while others are performing what seems to be a rhythmic dance to the African music that's playing. Two black students are rapping.
It's the kind of scene that could easily play out on a beach full of backpack tourists, but this is unfolding at one of the country's most expensive universities.

Many female students here have dyed their hair green or blue, they have piercings and their fashion sense seems inspired by "Girls" creator and millennial star Lena Dunham, who, of course, also studied here.
In such a setting, it seems almost inconceivable that this country could go on to elect Donald Trump as its president only a few weeks later. Yet pro-Trump country is just a few miles away. Oberlin is located in Ohio, one of the swing states that made Trump's election possible. Drive five miles down College Road toward town, and you start seeing blue "Trump Pence 2016" signs on people's lawns.

Places like Oberlin are the breeding grounds of the leftist elite Trump's people spoke so disparagingly of during the election campaign.
Only a few months earlier, a handful of students claimed they had been traumatized after someone used chalk to scrawl "Trump 2016" on the walls of buildings and on sidewalks at Oberlin and at other liberal

Survey finds millennials lack basic survival skills!

NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune ^ | 1/13/17 | Todd Masson, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune

In the coming zombie apocalypse, safe spaces may be in short supply, so millennials will have to take shelter under their Spoonk mats and crack open their cell phones in hopes there's creamy nougat inside. According to a recent survey -- this is shocking, I know -- millennials lack even the most basic survival skills.

Apparently SnapChat offers no tutorials on how to build a snare trap.

The survey, conducted ahead of the London Boat Show, found even the most basic of life skills are quantum physics to most millennials. More than half were unable to tie a single knot and 40 percent had never swum in open water.

That removes as an option wading out into a lake while the zombie hordes foam and snarl along the shoreline.

Even more troubling, millennials have no idea how to read maps, relying instead on GPS and the Google Maps app to tell them when to go straight or turn. That means millennials will be the ones wandering through the forest, hoping to find a cell signal. And as fans of The Walking Dead know, zombies love to hide behind trees.
In those forests, even though they're surrounded by wood, any millennials who survive the zombies will likely freeze to death at night because the survey found two-thirds of them have no idea how to spark a fire by natural means. Fire, they had assumed, lives inside of stoves, and only comes out when you turn the dial.
Millennials will also be stunned to learn that seafood markets won't automatically produce more fish after the zombies have eaten their owners. Hungry millennials may see fish jumping in those lakes they can't swim in, but they'll have no clue how to catch them for dinner, even though they'd have to eat them raw anyway since

Border town Dems brace for fight over Trump’s ‘wall’

Fox News ^ | January 13, 2017 | Barnini Chakraborty

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge to build a U.S.-Mexico wall has touched off a fierce debate in the U.S. border towns that would be most affected – with local Democrats vowing to fight Trump tooth and nail if he proceeds.

“Mexico is an ally, not an enemy,” Rep. Filemon Vela, D-Texas, told FoxNews.com. “It is our second-largest trading partner, and building a wall between two countries with such important ties is a senseless and wasteful exercise."

Vela is a colorful Trump critic. He made headlines after calling the president-elect's illegal immigrant policies “hateful, dehumanizing, and frankly shameful.” In a public letter, he also advised Trump to “take your border wall and shove it up your ass.”

Vela is part of a growing number of Democratic lawmakers bracing for a fight with Trump over his proposed 1,933-mile border wall with Mexico -- one of several big immigration clashes on the horizon. Many Democratic officials in "sanctuary cities" also are preparing to battle Trump over his threat to cut their federal funding.

Democrats Confront F.B.I. Chief at Closed-Door Intelligence Briefing!

The New York Slimes ^ | 2017-01-13 | MATTHEW ROSENBERG and ADAM GOLDMAN

WASHINGTON — America’s intelligence chiefs sat down with members of Congress behind closed doors on Friday for what they thought would be a straightforward briefing on Russian cyberattacks. What ensued instead was a confrontation Democrats have long sought with James B. Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Why, the House Democrats demanded to know, did Mr. Comey believe it was O.K. to make repeated disclosures during the campaign about the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails but to this day refuse to say if the F.B.I. is investigating links between the Trump campaign and Russia?
His answers did not prove very satisfying. Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the minority leader, grew so frustrated that at one point she chastised Mr. Comey for being “condescending to members.”
Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, who was chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee when it was hacked, asked why Mr. Comey had never called her about the intrusions, which began in August 2015 and continued over the course of many months. The F.B.I. notified the committee of the original hacking, but reached a low-level tech support contractor and went back and forth with him for months before the leadership of the organization was informed and took steps to halt the intrusion.

EXCLUSIVE: Intel Vets Say Trump ‘Dossier’ Is A ‘Complete Fraud’!

The Daily Caller News Foundation ^ | January 13, 2017 | Richard Pollock

Veteran intelligence officials familiar with Russian disinformation campaigns conclude the Trump “dossier” released by BuzzFeed earlier this week is fraudulent and its author violated basic standards for intelligence reporting, the Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

“From my personal standpoint and my thorough review of this document, I have deemed it a complete and total fabricated fraud,” said Col. James Waurishuk (Ret.), a 30-year veteran who worked for the CIA’s Assymmetric Warfare Task Force. He also served on the White House National Security Council.

“For me, it is hard to believe how anyone who claims to know anything about intelligence operations, propaganda and disinformation would believe anything in it,” Waurishuk said.

“The devil is in the content and the content is just garbage. I don’t believe a word of it,” said Fred Rustmann, a 24-year veteran of the CIA’s clandestine ranks and the agency’s Senior Intelligence Service.

Trump Raises Record $90M For Inauguration

The Hill ^ | 1/13/2017 | Evelyn Rupert

President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee has raised a record $90 million to cover the steep costs of next weekend's festivities, the Associated Press reported.

That far outpaces President Obama’s $55 million in 2009 and $43 million in 2013, the AP reported.

Pelosi: Were It Not for Obama, $19,951,756,200,280 Debt Would Be Higher!

Cybercast News Service ^ | January 13, 2017 | 2:00 PM EST | Penny Starr

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Friday that were it not for "the work" of President Barack Obama, the federal debt would have increased even more than the $9 trillion that it has increased over the eight years of his presidency.
“Absent the work of President Obama this national debt would be even higher,” Pelosi said at her weekly briefing with reporters at the Capitol when asked about the increase in the federal budget under Obama. […]
“As I’ve said over and over again: Show me your budget, show me your values,” Pelosi said. “And we see today on the reconciliation a clue. We haven’t seen the full budget because that will come later.”
“When (Obama) stood on the steps of the Capitol eight years from next week the deficit was $1.4 trillion—one-year deficit,” Pelosi said. “It’s reduced by 70 percent in his administration.” […]
“[Clinton] had us on a path of $5.4 trillion in debt reduction,” Pelosi said. “Not deficit, debt reduction—as opposed to an annual deficit—the debt reduction. President Bush came to office, he reversed all of that. …

I Am Never Going To Be a Part of Your Sick Liberal Worldview

Townhall ^ | 1/12/16 | John Hawkins

I am not a citizen of the world. I am not going to be part of your collective. I don’t respect the United Nations, international law or think any other culture compares favorably to our own. Don’t get me wrong: I respect the Brits, the Israelis, the Aussies and a few other nations that have built great legacies their children can be proud of, but they’re not America. We’re better than the rest of the world…or we used to be.

It doesn’t matter how many Americans are out of work or how many immigrants end up on welfare; we keep looking for ways to raise the level of immigration.

It’s like a man who is drowning to death trying to find a way to get deeper underwater. Now, we spend most of our time trying to be more like nations that are poorer, weaker and less moral than we are
