Keeping the Young Ignorant About Socialism

Townhall.com ^ | February 9, 2016 | Robert Knight

When Bernie Sanders came within a few coin flips of beating Hillary Clinton in the Iowa caucuses, it signaled the Democratic Party's astounding march toward an outright embrace of socialism.
Young Democrats overwhelmingly supported the avowed socialist senator from Vermont, with 84 percent of those under 30 backing him. National polls show similar results.
Only voters older than 45 in Iowa went strongly for Hillary Clinton, who has managed to avoid the socialist label while advocating policies that often mirror those of Sen. Sanders.
People familiar with the shocking historical record of socialist countries may scratch their heads in amazement. How could so many young people expect others to pay entirely for their college education, all their medical needs and their job training, which Sen. Sanders has promised if he's elected?
We could write off the young, pro-socialist voting bloc as yet another group eagerly joining the Free Stuff Army that President Obama has been cultivating since taking office seven years ago. But there is much more to it. People falling for the siren song of socialism are not callously ignoring the many failures and atrocities committed in that doctrine's name; they're often blissfully unaware.
For the past several decades, government public schools and nearly all colleges have touted socialism's principles of redistribution, racialism and class envy while declining to connect the dots between socialism and tyranny, examples of which abound. It's no wonder that so many young people have a rosy view of socialism when it's depicted as the epitome of compassion and "fairness."
"The moral prestige of socialism is such that we are still being warned about the excesses of capitalism, even after the extermination of tens of millions of people under socialist regimes," wrote the late Joseph Sobran in his 1985 National Review essay, "Penses: Notes for the Reactionary of Tomorrow."
"It makes no difference that socialism's actual record is terribly bloody; socialism is forever judged by its promises and supposed possibilities, while capitalism is judged by its worst cases."
Socialism perverts the biblical notion of charity, turning it into an excuse to empower the state. Since it advances at the expense of existing institutions, violating natural human relations rooted in the family, socialism is a driving force behind the sexual revolution. Hence, modern progressives naturally embrace abortion and promote the redefinition of marriage and family while denigrating religious faith - with the notable exception of Islam. As families fail, the state grows larger to pick up the pieces.
Men do not naturally place the needs of strangers ahead of their own families. In fact, the Bible warns that it's a sin not to look out for one's family first. "If anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever" (1 Timothy 5:8).
Charity happens after one has done that primary duty, and it is best realized on a personal level, where the giver's sacrifice is voluntary and the giver is aware of the impact of his charity.
Every government transfer of income involves coercion and taxation. Socialist countries tax most or all of people's income, which productive people naturally resent. Outright slavery is 100 percent taxation of one's labors.
In recent years, soft totalitarianism (confiscatory taxation and effective seizure of the media and private companies) has characterized socialist-led regimes in South America such as Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil, where once-vibrant economies are floundering. In Europe, "democratic socialism" has weakened many nations, leaving them open to an invasion by millions of Muslim immigrants, some of whom openly advocate turning the former center of Christendom into a trophy of the Caliphate.
Where socialism is fully consolidated, people become prisoners in their own countries. This chilling pattern was seen in the rise of National Socialism (Nazi Germany), the Soviet Union, Communist China, Cuba, Cambodia, North Korea and other socialist nations that resorted quickly to torture and mass murder.
In 1999, several authors compiled The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression, which details the bloody cost of the worldwide experiment in the most extreme form of socialism. Their estimate: 100 million people killed.
Combined with millions of Jews and others killed by the Nazis, end-game socialism compiled a grim total of upwards of 110 million deaths in just the 20th century.
In a recent column about the Sanders phenomenon, Peggy Noonan observed that, "Socialism is an old idea to you if you're over 50 but a nice new idea if you're 25."
If American educators were doing their job, they would be inoculating the young against the siren song of socialism. Instead, they're teaching them to sing its tempting, misleading tune.
No wonder so many are happy to join what Sen. Sanders calls his "political revolution."

Hillary's Wall Street Speech Transcripts Would 'Bury Her'

Townhall ^ | Feb 09, 2016 | Guy Benson

Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, I asked this question: "We know she was reckless in her handling of national security secrets, but she's assiduously protective of whatever she said in those speeches. Why?" The assumption is that rather than corroborating her implausibly revisionist characterizations of what she said to those elite bankers who paid her six-figures per speech (her typical fee), the hidden transcripts would reveal a very chummy posture toward her supposed mortal enemies, or whatever. Such a revelation would further undermine her credibility among the Democratic base's rabidly anti-Wall Street base, buttress one of Bernie Sanders' central lines of attack, and again expose her as self-serving and genetically incapable of ruthful candor.
When Hillary Clinton spoke to Goldman Sachs executives and technology titans at a summit in Arizona in October of 2013, she spoke glowingly of the work the bank was doing raising capital and helping create jobs, according to people who saw her remarks. Clinton, who received $225,000 for her appearance, praised the diversity of Goldman's workforce and the prominent roles played by women at the blue-chip investment bank and the tech firms present at the event. She spent no time criticizing Goldman or Wall Street more broadly for its role in the 2008 financial crisis. "It was pretty glowing about us," one person who watched the event said. "It's so far from what she sounds like as a candidate now. It was like a rah-rah speech. She sounded more like a Goldman Sachs managing director.
her seeming inability to hold off the brutal attacks on her cozy relationship with Wall Street speaks to a startling lack of foresight.

The Keys to Health and Happiness

Townhall.com ^ | February 9, 2016 | Tom Purcell

Get this: Wealth, fame and success don't make us happy, but strong relationships do.

That's according to a 77-year-long Harvard Study of Adult Development that I read about in The Independent.
The study began in 1938 with 724 men from two distinct groups. The first group included 268 sophomores from Harvard. The second group included 456 16-year-olds from an impoverished area in Boston.
At the beginning of the study, the subjects were given medical examinations and researchers interviewed their parents to gain "a deep understanding of their lives."
Then, every two years, researchers surveyed their lives and "explored their attitudes toward their work and home lives... ." Every five years they were given medical examinations. Of the 724 subjects, 60 are still alive and still participating in the study.
So what have researchers learned from the study about human happiness?
According to Harvard Psychiatry Professor Robert Waldinger, the study's fourth director, there are three key findings.
First, loneliness can kill.
"People with more social connections - be that to family members, friends or in a community - are happier, physically healthier and tend to live longer," reports The Independent. But "those who are more isolated from others than they wish to be suffer with poor health and experience a decline in brain function sooner than those who aren't."
But we know all this to be true.
We know that the happiest moments in our own lives involved friends and family. These are the people who affect the deeper part of our nature - our spirits and souls - where true happiness resides. These are the people who can make us laugh so hard our guts hurt or help us when we're down or engage us in deeply satisfying conversations.
And yet we spend most of our waking hours not nurturing our friends and families but chasing success and money and a bigger house. And the happiness that is right under our noses eludes us.
The second key finding of the study is this: The quality of relationships matters. "While being lonely is harmful, being surrounded by people isn't necessarily helpful in itself," said Waldinger. "We know that you can be lonely in a crowd and lonely in a marriage."
In the era of social media, when we have more "virtual" friends than ever, why are so many lonelier than ever?
The study's third key finding should be obvious: Strong relationships are what we need to be happy, but they require work.
"Waldinger said that people who feel they can count on another person when they face trouble have stronger memory, while those who don't see this faculty decline earlier," reports The Independent.
The Harvard study validates what we all know in our bones to be true. But we're a conflicted people in America.
On one hand, we think wealth and fame are the keys to happiness. We want adulation and expensive cars and big houses staffed by a dozen servants.
But on the other hand we know wealth and fame are bogus. You don't know who your friends really are until your money is gone. And if you ever do anything stupid, the media will broadcast it all over the world.
Well, nuts to that.
If you want to be healthy and happy, follow the Harvard study's findings and engage a handful of good people in high-quality relationships.
Or, to put it another way, just follow the advice of the great singer-philosopher Kenny Rogers. He said that all anyone needs to be happy is someone to love, something to do and something to look forward to.

Obama Lied: $750 Million in Taxpayer Funded Obamacare Subsidies Went to Illegals in 2015

Townhall.com ^ | February 9, 2016 | Katie Pavlich

Remember this moment from 2009 when President Obama was trying to reassure Americans that Obamacare would not benefit illegal immigrants?
"There are also those that claim our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This too, is false. The reforms I am proposing do not apply to those who are here illegally," Obama said.
"You lie!" South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson shouted out. GOP Rep. to Obama: 'You Lie!'
Well, it turns out Congressman Wilson was absolutely correct. According to a new report illegal immigrants received nearly a billion dollars in Obamacare subsidies last year, a far cry from being barred from using the government healthcare program.
Illegal immigrants and individuals with unclear legal status wrongly benefited from up to $750 million in ObamaCare subsidies and the government is struggling to recoup the money, according to a new Senate report obtained by Fox News.

The report, produced by Republicans on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, examined Affordable Care Act tax credits meant to defray the cost of insurance premiums. It found that as of June 2015, "the Administration awarded approximately $750 million in tax credits on behalf of individuals who were later determined to be ineligible because they failed to verify their citizenship, status as a national, or legal presence."

The review found the credits went to more than 500,000 people - who are illegal immigrants or whose legal status was unclear due to insufficient records.
Keep working America, bloated and irresponsible bureaucracy depends on it, as do those who are in the country illegally.
On another note, not only are illegal immigrants obtaining hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in the form of Obamacare subsidies, they're also voting in elections.

Bernie Sanders' Income Tax Brackets: How Much Would You Owe?

The Motley Fool ^ | 2-7-2016 | Sean Williams

Sanders' tax plan is intriguing in that he's looking to raise taxes on everyone, not just high-income households. However, as you'll see below, well-to-do households will fund the majority of the tax revenue increase under Sanders' tax reform plan.

According to research from the Tax Foundation, Sanders' tax plan would, on a static basis, raise $13.6 trillion over the next decade, mostly from a combination of payroll tax increases and individual income tax hikes. When taking into account the perceived economic impact of Sanders' plan, the Tax Foundation estimates a positive revenue impact of approximately $9.8 trillion over 10 years.

How might Sanders' tax plan affect you? Feel the Bern

A substantial amount of money would be raised by a 6.2% income-based tax on corporations, which is primarily being used to fund a universal healthcare program for all Americans. However, individual income tax increases are also expected to generate significant additional revenue if Sanders' plan is enacted.

Seven Facts About the Black Panther Party Amid Beyoncé Super Bowl Tribute

breitbart.com ^ | 2/8/2016 | Jerome Hudson

The part-socialist, part-black nationalist Black Panther Party is headline news again, thanks to Beyonce's Super Bowl 50 halftime show performance of her song "Formation,"-"a big wet kiss to Black Lives Matter" that pays tribute to the 1960s militant group.
In the fall of 1966, the Black Panther Party was founded by left-wing militants Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. Newton, like Seale, had several run-ins with police. He was convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison for the shooting death of an Oakland police officer. Publicity around his arrest and the popularity of "Free Newton" propaganda provided the public pressure that led to his release.

That Old Horndog (Slick Willy) Is Still In the Hunt

Michelle Obama's Mirror ^ | 2-9-2016 | MOTUS

brawny man1
Why is the lumberjack stumping for Hillary in the north woods of New Hampshire? I know that sounds like the lead-in to a joke, butt no, seriously: why?
Is this another Clinton quid pro quo? “I’ll stump for you in New Hampshire,
lumberjack hillary
and then you’ll stump for me, Brawny Lad. Got it?
Butt this goes beyond even the normal Clinton pandering. And it doesn’t work well for several reasons:
 1. The Lumberjack’s association with Babe, the Blue Ox
blue ox
2. The lumberjack plaid: it’s already been appropriated by another minority group.
3. As well as sluts:
4. And it's clearly a micro-aggression:
Which brings me to the biggest fail of this pandering effort of all: when you've earned, and I do mean earned, the title Slick Willy
You old horndog you
you do not want to be associated with anything that might bring the phrase “the slicker picker upper” to mind.
That’s just my take on it, you of course are free to love whoever you want in today’s New Hampshire primary.
SPECIAL PROGRAMMING NOTE: don’t forget: today is Fat Tuesday, aka Paczki Day (improbably pronounced “poonch-key”)!
So savor your custard and jelly filled paczkis as Lent begins tomorrow - which is God’s way of giving you a second chance for your New Year’s resolutions.

Bernie and Hillary's Miserable World

Townhall.com ^ | February 9, 2016 | Susan Stamper Brown

The Democrat Party presidential debates have been so snooze-worthy, it's enough to make you wonder if maybe the Democrat National Committee should schedule future debates sometime between Bernie Sanders' and Hillary Clinton's afternoon naps and the senior citizen early bird hour over at Golden Corral.
At the very least, these Democrat candidates should chug some Geritol before taking the stage, which might inspire some positive policy proposals as opposed to all the misery they seem to find hiding under every rock across the country. In contrast, the message of real hope and change is coming from the other side of the political aisle. Strange thing is, Hillary and Bernie keep talking about how much America needs change. Don't they recall who has had the White House for almost eight years? I know, the memory is one of the first things to go.
Seasoned wisdom is supposed to come with age, but listen to any Democrat debate or speech these days, and rather than hearing hope, all you hear about is a world viewed through a prism of doom - selectively seeing things like victimization, despair, oppression, injustice and discrimination. Dwelling on negativity is unhealthy, and it represents a world view that is repulsive to those of us who refuse to be seen as weak, victimized, disenfranchised or controlled. And that, my friends, is a big reason why I cannot in good conscience align myself with liberalism.
The Bible says that without vision, without true hope, "people perish." No wonder Bernie and Hillary mope around like someone stole their three-wheel bicycles. I'd be mopey too if I actually believed we're all doomed unless the Democrat party steps in to save the world.
Here's truth: There is only one savior, and his name is not the Federal Government. Sorry, liberals, no matter how big you grow it, your government god cannot perform miracles, nor does it walk on water.
The positive messages and hearty debates (save a boor or two) on the Republican side provide inspiration and serve to remind voters the country is not as terrible as the Democrats would have us believe. Some of us actually believe there's such a thing as the American Dream and we know it's still attainable, just as long as the government gives people space to make it happen. Believing that doesn't make you "anti-government," just anti-big government.
The difference is huge and makes a big difference in how the two parties see the world.
As I've said before, those who believe they are forever a victim tend to assume zero responsibility for their situation and believe they have no control over the rising waters of their circumstances -- so they sit on the rooftop of their despair waiting for their government savior to come to the rescue. But it never does. Liberals believe that any malady known to man has absolutely nothing to do with poor choices, bad judgment or weak character - so they blame intangibles like capitalism, global warming, white privilege, "vast right wing conspiracies" and homemade videos. Oh, and guns and Christians and Bush. Definitely Bush.
Consider their accomplishments: Banning school prayer, legalizing abortion, secularizing society, replacing God with government and substituting reason for religion. And what do we get for this? We get a broken educational system, destruction of the nuclear family and self-serving people with no moral compass. And we also get two aged and tired politicians pushing a worn-out message.
With that kind of mindset, it's no wonder it's hard to find a truly happy liberal these days.

Bill would make Obama’s birthday a state holiday!

Reboot Illinois ^ | February 4, 2016 | Kevin Hoffman

A bill introduced in the Illinois House would make Aug. 4, President Barack Obama’s birthday, a state holiday.
State Rep. André Thapedi, D-Chicago, and three other Chicago-area Democratic lawmakers are sponsoring House Bill 4654, which was filed on Feb. 2. The legislation would make Obama’s birthday a legal holiday, meaning state offices and schools would be closed.
From the bill:
“The fourth day of August of each year shall be a legal holiday to be known as Barack Obama’s Birthday to be observed as a day on which to hold appropriate exercises in commemoration of our illustrious President. When August fourth shall fall on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be held and considered the holiday.”
If passed by lawmakers and signed by the governor, Obama’s Aug. 4 birthday would become the 14th official state holiday. The legislation also would establish a commemorative holiday known as mayor’s day, in honor of late Chicago Mayor Harold Washington and Richard J. Daley. That holiday would be observed by Chicago Public Schools on March 4, though schools in that district would stay open.
Obama, who has his own problems with a divided Congress, will be in Springfield next week to address the General Assembly where he is expected to speak about bipartisanship. Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democratic legislative leaders remain deadlocked over a budget. Illinois is now eight months into the current fiscal year without one.

A better life!

What difference?

I had a dream!

Obama Cares?

People who vote for Hillary

Brain Eater!

How to make a liberal

A Traitor!

But when I do...
