Thirty-five percent of Americans in Monday’s Gallup survey said they are extremely worried about the state of race relations, up from 28 percent in 2015. That number is also up by more than 100 percent since 2014, when 17 percent of Americans said they were greatly worried about racial strife in America.

Heightened concerns over race relations coincide with the rise of the “Black Lives Matter” movement, which was sparked after a series of high-profile incidents in which black men were shot by white police officers.
