Lying liars

Flopping Aces ^ | 11-01-15 | Bruce Tarleton

Lying is nothing new for Hillary Clinton. From the Whitewater scandal, to the Bosnian Sniper Lie, the Benghazi Cover-up lies, to the Email Scandal, Hillary will lie her ass off. And not one of her supporters will give a good God Damn. This is really no surprise. America is used to being lied to by its government. Lying is a pretty much given when it comes to politics. None of these lies really affect the average Joe. So the average Joe becomes a Hillary Whore. Ignoring the integrity of the individual, because we need to elect a President who squats to pee.
But when you lie about something that has a direct affect on a huge demographic, that can be a problem. And Hillary has a problem. Her lies about gun control are about to bite her in the ass.
Gun owners in America are a diverse demographic. It includes Democrats, Republicans, and every other political party. In the campaign leading up to the 2008 election, many Gun Rights Activists warned that the Democrats and Barrack Obama specifically would try to institute sweeping gun control legislation to trample the rights guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment. There was just enough double talk from the Democratic Party to raise the hairs on the back of the necks of most gun owners. Except the Democrat gun owners. From 2008 all the way up until Sandy Hook in 2012, the Democrats would always confront the Gun Rights activist with the statement “No one is trying to take your guns away from you”.
With the tragedy of Sandy Hook, all that changed. A flurry of legislation was introduced in what the Democrats said was an attempt to stem the tide of gun violence. “Sensible Gun Control” became the new catch phrase for every bit of new rules and restrictions the Gun Control crowd tried to get passed. ALL of it supported by Obama.
The problem was none of the new legislation or regulations would have prevented Sandy Hook. Or Isla Vista. Or the Charleston Church tragedy. Or the Oregon College tragedy. It amounted to nothing more than feel good legislation: regulations that make us feel good about the notion that we did something, regardless of what impact it may or may not have on gun violence.
In order to bolster their efforts to further restrict gun ownership, the Gun Control crowd tried to use statistics to justify the feel good legislation. While many different statistics on many different aspects were used, all of them were debunked. One big statistic that they used, and provided talking points for Obama, and VP Biden was the 40% figure.
"The law already requires licensed gun dealers to run background checks, and over the last 14 years that's kept 1.5 million of the wrong people from getting their hands on a gun. But it's hard to enforce that law when as many as 40 percent of all gun purchases are conducted without a background check." --President Obama, remarks on gun violence, Jan. 16, 2013
"Studies estimate that nearly 40 percent of all gun sales are made by private sellers who are exempt from this requirement."
"Now Is the Time: The president's plan to protect our children and our communities by reducing gun violence," released Jan. 16
"That's why we need, and I've recommended to the president, universal background checks. Studies show that up to 40 percent of the people -- and there's no -- let me be honest with you again, which I'll get to in a moment. Because of the lack of the ability of federal agencies to be able to even keep records, we can't say with absolute certainty what I'm about to say is correct. But the consensus is about 40 percent of the people who buy guns today do so outside the NICS [National Instant Criminal Background Check] system, outside the background check system."
Vice President Biden, remarks to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Jan. 17
Okay, let's put this to bed once and for all. The 40% figure came from a study released in 1997, based on a survey in 1994. The survey asked questions about purchases in 1993, and early 1994. The Brady Law, which requires complete background checks on any retail purchase didn't go into effect until 1994. I won't get into the ambiguity of the questions actually asked, or the method of determining a yes or no answer. To use a survey that asks if you followed a law before the law was even in place is disingenuous. It should be noted that the 40% figure is used by the Gun Control crowd to define sales within what they term the “Gun-Show Loophole”. The problem is the survey showed that only 3.9% of respondents purchased their firearm at a Gun Show.
So what does this have to do with Hillary? Simple. She continues to trot out this mythical figure in her efforts to appear ready to institute “sensible gun control” if she were elected. IF you are a politician, and you use the 40% figure to support your argument, you are lying. Period.
But that's not her only lie. And it's not her biggest, or most dangerous.

EPA, California Notify Volkswagen of Additional Clean Air Act Violations

Environmental Protection Agency ^ | 11/02/2015 | EPA Press Release

WASHINGTON – Today, EPA is issuing a second notice of violation (NOV) of the Clean Air Act (CAA) to Volkswagen AG, Audi AG and Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. This NOV is also being issued to Porsche AG and Porsche Cars North America. These five companies are collectively referred to as Volkswagen (VW). The NOV alleges that VW developed and installed a defeat device in certain VW, Audi and Porsche light duty diesel vehicles equipped with 3.0 liter engines for model years (MY) 2014 through 2016 that increases emissions of nitrogen oxide (NOx) up to nine times EPA’s standard. The vehicles covered by today’s NOV are the diesel versions of: the 2014 VW Touareg, the 2015 Porsche Cayenne, and the 2016 Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, A8L, and Q5.
EPA and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) have both initiated investigations based on Volkswagen’s alleged actions. The NOV covers approximately 10,000 diesel passenger cars already sold in the United States since MY 2014. In addition, the NOV covers an unknown volume of 2016 vehicles.
These alleged violations are in addition to the NOV issued on September 18th and the ongoing investigation by EPA alleging a defeat device on certain 2.0 liter engines for MY 2009-2015 vehicles.
“VW has once again failed its obligation to comply with the law that protects clean air for all Americans,” said Cynthia Giles, Assistant Administrator for the Office for EPA’s Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. “All companies should be playing by the same rules. EPA, with our state, and federal partners, will continue to investigate these serious matters, to secure the benefits of the Clean Air Act, ensure a level playing field for responsible businesses, and to ensure consumers get the environmental performance they expect.”
"On September 25, the California Air Resources Board sent letters to all manufacturers letting them know we would be screening vehicles for potential defeat devices,” said Richard Corey, Executive Officer of the California Air Resources Board. “Since then ARB, EPA and Environment Canada have continued test programs on additional diesel-powered passenger cars and SUVs. These tests have raised serious concerns about the presence of defeat devices on additional VW, Audi and Porsche vehicles. Today we are requiring VW Group to address these issues. This is a very serious public health matter. ARB and EPA will continue to conduct a rigorous investigation that includes testing more vehicles until all of the facts are out in the open."
Following the September 18th NOV issued for 2.0 liter engines, on September 25th EPA initiated testing of all 2015 and 2016 light duty diesel models available in the U.S using updated testing procedures specifically designed to detect potential defeat devices. That testing led directly to the alleged violations covered under today’s NOV. The NOV is based on vehicle emission testing performed by the EPA’s National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory, CARB’s Haagen-Smit Laboratory, and Environment Canada’s River Road Laboratory.
Affected diesel models include:
-- 2014 VW Touareg -- 2015 Porsche Cayenne -- 2016 Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, A8L, and Q5
November 2 Notice of Violation Details:
As alleged in the NOV, VW manufactured and installed software in the electronic control module of these vehicles that senses when the vehicle is being tested for compliance with EPA emissions standards. When the vehicle senses that it is undergoing a federal emissions test procedure, it operates in a low NOx “temperature conditioning” mode. Under that mode, the vehicle meets emission standards. At exactly one second after the completion of the initial phases of the standard test procedure, the vehicle immediately changes a number of operating parameters that increase NOx emissions and indicates in the software that it is transitioning to “normal mode,” where emissions of NOx increase up to nine times the EPA standard, depending on the vehicle and type of driving conditions. In other tests where the vehicle does not experience driving conditions similar to the start of the federal test procedure, the emissions are higher from the start, consistent with “normal mode.”
VW's software on these vehicles includes one or more Auxiliary Emission Control Devices (AECD) that the company failed to disclose, describe and justify in their applications for certificate of conformity for each model. Every manufacturer must apply to EPA for and be approved for a certificate of conformity for each model, each year otherwise it is illegal to introduce the cars into commerce. An AECD designed to circumvent emissions test is a defeat device.
The Clean Air Act requires vehicle manufacturers to certify to EPA that their products will meet applicable federal emission standards to control air pollution, and every vehicle sold in the U.S. must be covered by an EPA-issued certificate of conformity. The Clean Air Act also prohibits manufacturers’ making and selling vehicles equipped with defeat devices that reduce the effectiveness of the emission control system during normal driving conditions. By making and selling vehicles with defeat devices and by selling vehicles with higher levels of air emissions than were certified to EPA, Volkswagen allegedly violated two important provisions of the Clean Air Act.
NOx pollution contributes to harmful ground-level ozone and fine particulate matter. Exposure to these pollutants has been linked with a range of serious health effects, including increased asthma attacks and other respiratory illnesses. Exposure to ozone and particulate matter has also been associated with premature death due to respiratory-related or cardiovascular-related effects. Children, the elderly, and people with pre-existing respiratory disease are particularly at risk of health effects from exposure to these pollutants.
VW may be liable for civil penalties and injunctive relief for the violations alleged in the NOV. VW will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations contained in the NOV.
It is Volkswagen’s responsibility to fix the vehicles’ emissions systems. Although these vehicles have emissions exceeding standards, these violations do not present a safety hazard for car owners and drivers and the vehicles remain legal to drive and resell. Owners of vehicles of these models and years do not need to take any action at this time. Owners looking for additional information can visit: and scroll down to Frequently Asked Questions.

Obama-Clinton Emails Render His Related Kroft Interview Statements False! ^ | October 31, 2015 | Tom Blumer

A Friday evening story at the New York Times covered the Obama administration's decision to "try to block the release of a handful of emails between President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton."

In it, reporters Michael D. Shear and Michael S. Schmidt demonstrated that President Obama undoubtedly did not tell the truth in his interview with CBS News's Steve Kroft in a 60 Minutes episode which aired on October 11.

In that interview, Obama had the following to say about his knowledge of Mrs. Clinton's private email server:
Steve Kroft: Did you know about Hillary Clinton's use of private email server--

President Barack Obama: No.
Steve Kroft: --while she was Secretary of State?
President Barack Obama: No.
Steve Kroft: Do you think it posed a national security problem?

President Barack Obama: I don't think it posed a national security problem. I think that it was a mistake that she has acknowledge
