Thank God Ted Cruz Is No Marco Rubio

Town Hall ^ | Oct 15, 2015 | Lee Culpepper

Why must some conservatives act like forsaken-liberal women or liberals who support the Washington Redskins? Honestly. No matter what they have going for them in other areas of life, some people just can’t get enough betrayal or disappointment.

It’s really depressing listening to otherwise normal people jabber on about how the rest of us could give Marco Rubio a second chance -- during the primary, no less. Why can’t these people just accept that Rubio isn’t the guy they want him to be?

What drives this twisted compulsion to see Marco the way some conservatives can only wish that he were? You know, just like Ted Cruz, but not as courageous, smart, or consistently right on all the issues.

Maybe it’s their inability to accept that they are wrong. Maybe in their hearts, they believe they know more than the rest of us. Maybe it’s our own lying eyes. Maybe they are just morally superior and more forgiving than everyone else. In other words, maybe it’s just their own foolish pride. Who knows?

Whatever it is, please -- for the love of God -- just get over it.

Rubio proved himself to be the fixer-upper we’ll have to settle for if he’s the only guy left after the prmary. Until then, he deserves to be on his own. He asked for it.

I mean, come on. He didn’t even try to hide his unfaithfulness. He flaunted it in John McCain’s Washington insider parade. It doesn’t get much lower than John McCain. How could any true patriot support this guy, Rubio, in the primary, now? Ugh!

Are these well-intentioned conservatives recovering liberals? That could explain a lot. No, matter how compelling the truth is, they still sometimes refuse to concede the obvious.

If Rubio were dependable, no one would need to explain how he can recover a conservative reputation. He wouldn’t need to. He would have had the self-discipline not to squander it.

Let Rubio work on redeeming himself without casting a conservative vote for him in the primary. Let Rubio prove he can survive on his own. No one forced him to besmirch his honor. Let him get it back the hard way -- without conservative support in the primary.

Anyone who lacks the judgment to stay out of the sack with John McCain -- let alone the Gang of Eight -- shouldn’t be touched with a 10-foot pole. Let alone a conservative vote in the primary.

Yea, yea, yea. Sure the voodoo fortune tellers swear that Ted Cruz can’t win 270 electoral votes. They also swore John McCain and Mitt Romney could win those votes. Eight years later, we now know how much their fortunes are worth.

If it were up to establishment fortune tellers, we wouldn’t even have primaries. We’d just let the media appoint our candidates.

Speaking of which, did you hear that Rubio is now the conservative candidate that Bill and Hillary Clinton fear the most! Give me a freaking break. Can politics get any cornier?

If Bill or Hillary actually said that, we instinctively know that the opposite is true. In fact, if you want to be right, just do the exact opposite of everything liberals and their favorite republican, John McCain, tell you to do.

Considering the fact that McCain called Cruz a “wacko,” every true patriot in the country should be thinking hard about lining up to vote for Cruz in the primary. It's practically a no-brainer.

Furthermore, this Clinton scheme sounds more like it could have been hatched by Marco McCain's presidential campaign. I wouldn’t be surprised if Carl Rove leaked it. Rove might have even sent the Jeb mole disguised as a millennial twit to Trump’s No Labels event to ask obnoxious liberal questions.

Let’s face it. Establishment Republicans are still not as slick as their liberal cohorts. Even when they aren’t busted redhanded, you can just sense they’re guilty of something.

Meanwhile, normal Americans embrace real competition. And any winning coach will tell you there is a reason to actually compete instead of deciding the game on paper.

Additionally, unless a coach is just desperate or has no other option, he goes with the player with the proven record. Like a real winner, Cruz has the untainted credibility in Washington to back up what he says he’ll do, when he says he’ll do it.

This is not rocket science. It’s just the facts.

We certainly have the right to support whomever we want, but if Rubio gets the chance to betray conservatives again, don’t complain when he does it.

Spare yourself the disappointment. Vote for Ted Cruz. Rely on his conservative principles. It’s the right thing to do, which might explain why some people are struggling to do it.

Cruz: Kerry must disavow spokesman’s remarks — or resign!

Times of Israel ^ | October 16, 2015 | Rebecca Shimoni Stoil

GOP senator says comments that Israel is ‘guilty of acts of terror’ display administration’s antagonism toward Israel

WASHINGTON — Republican Senator Ted Cruz called on Secretary of State John Kerry to either resign or distance himself from comments made by State Department spokesman John Kirby that some Israelis were guilty of terrorism.

“Once again, Secretary Kerry and his staff have proven themselves utterly unfit for the positions they hold,” the presidential hopeful complained. “Mr. Kirby should immediately retract his offensive assertion that Israel is ‘guilty of acts of terror’ or resign, and Secretary Kerry should immediately disavow these remarks or resign.”

Kirby said Wednesday that “individuals on both sides of [the Israeli-Palestinian] divide are — have proven capable of and in our view guilty of — acts of terror.”

According to Cruz, Kirby had declared “both the Palestinians and Israel equally guilty of terrorism.”

The presidential contender said that the spokesman’s comments fit a larger pattern of statements made by administration officials, including comments made by Kerry himself on Tuesday that seemed to tie the upswing in violence to a “massive increase in settlements” in recent years.

Cruz said that the Obama administration’s “obsessive antagonism [toward Israel] has been on full display” in recent days. “It is utterly unacceptable that a senior official in the US government would make such an unfounded slur against Israel, which has been our invaluable ally in the fight against terrorism.”

The Texas senator said that the US “must immediately and unconditionally reject the delusion that the coordinated Palestinian frenzy of bloodlust is in any way legitimate.”

“There is no moral equivalence here between the savagery of the Palestinian terrorists and the innocent Israelis they are trying to murder,” he added.

This is not the first time that Cruz has called for Kerry’s resignation. In April 2014, he demanded that the secretary of state step down after he warned that Israel could become an “apartheid state” if a two-state solution was not reached.

Cruz was not alone in his criticism. His calls for Kerry’s resignation came hours after Israeli ministers — some from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s own party — excoriated Kirby for his Wednesday statements. The ministers, however, seemed less concerned with the statements equivocating culpability for terror attacks — and more concerned with a different comment by Kirby, in which he seemed to accuse Israel of using excessive force.

Kirby told reporters that the US had “seen some reports of security activity that could indicate the potential excessive use of force.” He did not elaborate on the incidents in question, and it was unclear if he was referring to Israel’s handling of Palestinian rioting or the shooting of knife-wielding Palestinian assailants — which many Palestinians and Arab Israelis have claimed is excessive.

It seemed, however, that Kerry himself was trying Thursday to step back from the rhetorical precipice. In a speech at Indiana University, the secretary of state told the audience that “there is simply no justification for these reprehensible attacks and we will continue to support Israel’s right to defend its existence.”

Establishment Stalling Speaker Election Until They Are Guaranteed To Win!

CHQ ^ | 10/16/2015 | CHQ Staff

Imagine for a moment that come November of 2016 just as the presidential election was about to take place Hillary Clinton dropped out of the race as the Democratic nominee and President Barack Obama postponed the election indefinitely.

There’d be insurrection in the streets.

Yet that is exactly what Speaker Boehner and the cabal that currently runs the House Republican Conference did when Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy dropped out of the Speaker race last week.

And this effort to fix the election for Speaker is being actively abetted by the establishment media, who act like they don’t care or see what is going on, which is that the Republican establishment that runs Capitol Hill right now is simply stalling around until they can figure out a way to manipulate the process to maintain their power.

And make no mistake about it, this isn’t about “unifying the Party,” or finding a “consensus candidate.”

Stalling the vote to elect a new Speaker is all about those that been wrecking the country keeping their power in Congress, and thwarting the will of We the People.

And of course the establishment media – including what one might call the “conservative establishment” are right there covering for them.

Since Congress left on its Columbus Day recess how much media coverage has the election of a new Speaker received?

And what about the strong rumor that Speaker Boehner is reconsidering his resignation and might stick around to force through Obama’s “clean” debt ceiling increase, an Obama-level two-year spending bill and a tax break bill for his cronies on K Street?

Also zilch coverage by the establishment media.

It is as if the election of the Speaker of the House – next in line for the presidency after the Vice President – was akin to some junior high school Student Council election.

But operating out of the public eye is the only way that the establishment can manipulate the process to maintain their power, hence the cone of silence that has descended over the race.

And truth be told if there was some kind of open process where half-a-dozen candidates for Speaker came forth and canvassed the House Republican Conference, made speeches to the various formal caucuses, like the Freedom Caucus, the Liberty Caucus and the Republican Study Committee, and to the various informal regional caucuses, like the Southern States, the establishment candidates would all lose.

The majority of House Republicans are fed-up with being pushed around by a small cabal of insiders. The only Members of the House Republican Conference who like the current system are the ones who maintain (or think they can gain) power through it.

Which is why it is so important to elect a conservative – like Florida Congressman Daniel Webster – Speaker.

Rep. Webster is the only one who has put his name forward who has committed to change the current system where a small cabal of insiders – including many unelected and shadowy congressional staff – run the show and shove their lobbyist-driven agenda down the throats of We the People.

And Webster, as Speaker of the Florida House, made a record proving he can and will create a principles-based system of legislating, as opposed to the current power-based system.

In advance of the election to replace establishment Republican John Boehner as Speaker of the House, 55 conservative leaders from across America signed an open letter to the House Republican Conference. Entitled “Vision For New Conservative Leadership” the letter sets forth the minimum expectations conservatives have of the new post-Boehner House Republican leadership.  You can add your name to the list by signing the open letter to the House Republican Conference through this link. Or you can call your Representative – the House switchboard is 1-866-220-0044 – to tell them you want a conservative Speaker like Daniel Webster, not Boehner-lite, like Rep. Paul Ryan or Kevin McCarthy.

PS - If you are active in a conservative organization that has not joined the battle we urge you to get your organization involved in the fight to elect a conservative Speaker of the House TODAY. Talk to your conservative friends, tell them it is time to burn up the phone lines with this message, “Vote for a conservative Speaker, and vote NOW. Don’t let the establishment stall around until they are guaranteed a win.”

Ted Cruz Demands Kerry Resign Over Israel Criticism

Washington Free Beacon ^ | 10/15/15 | Adam Kredo and Stephanie Wang

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) is calling on Secretary of State John Kerry to resign over recent comments by senior Obama administration officials accusing Israel of committing “terrorism” amid a spate of violent attacks by Palestinians against Jews.
Palestinian terrorists have murdered at least eight Israelis and wounded dozens more over the last few weeks, with Palestinian leaders calling on citizens to commit more violence.
However, the State Department has attempted to blame Israel for fostering these attacks. Kerry blamed so-called Israeli “settlement” growth for the violence, while State Department spokesman John Kirby accused Israel of committing “terrorism.”
The comments sparked outrage among pro-Israel observers and prompted Cruz to demand that Kerry accept responsibility for the remarks and resign.
“Once again Sec. Kerry and his staff have proven themselves utterly unfit for the positions they hold,” Cruz told the Washington Free Beacon. “Mr. Kirby should immediately retract his offensive assertion that Israel is ‘guilty of acts of terror’ or resign, and Secretary Kerry should immediately disavow these remarks or resign.”
The “offensive” comments are a pattern for the State Department.
Cruz first called for Kerry’s resignation in April 2014 when the secretary threatened Israel could become an “apartheid state” it did not give in to his demands for concessions to the Palestinians.
This time around, Kerry prompted outrage when he blamed a new bout of violence from Palestinian terrorists on “settlement” growth.
“There’s been a massive increase in settlements over the course of the last years,” Kerry said. “Now you have this violence because there’s a frustration that is growing, and a frustration among Israelis who don’t see any movement.”
Spokesman Kirby also garnered criticism when he accused the Israelis of “terrorism” against Palestinians and said there were “credible reports” of Israeli police using excessive force against civilians.
“Individuals on both sides of this divide are—have proven capable of, and in our view, are guilty of acts of terrorism,” State Department Spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Wednesday following questions about the spike in violence.
“We’re always concerned about credible reports of excessive use of force against civilians, and we routinely raise our concerns about that.”
“The Obama Administration is the most hostile we have seen towards the nation of Israel in our nation’s history,” Cruz said. “In the last few days, this obsessive antagonism has been on full display.”
Rep. Lee Zeldin (R., N.Y.) called on President Barack Obama to fire spokesman Kirby.
“It is absolutely disgusting and shameful that the Obama administration not only refuses to stand strong with our ally in Israel, but actually has the audacity to claim that the Israelis are guilty of terrorism,” Zeldin said in a statement Thursday.
Zeldin went on to say that Kirby’s comments warrant an “immediate removal.”
“Admiral Kirby’s accusation warrants his immediate removal. He should absolutely not utter one more word on behalf of America’s foreign policy. If Secretary John Kerry refuses to speak out and discipline Mr. Kirby than Secretary Kerry needs to step aside as well,” Zeldin said.

New Obama czar will hunt 'right-wing' extremists!

WND ^ | 15 Oct 2015 | Leo Hohmann

Just two weeks after it announced a plan to globalize local police departments through the “Strong Cities Network,” the Obama administration has added a new tool in its fight against “violent extremism.”
A new position within the Justice Department – yet to be filled – will focus on investigating lone-wolf domestic terrorists or “extremists.”
The person who heads this new effort will target extremists who plan mass shootings, hold racist, bigoted or anti-government views or see themselves as “sovereign citizens.”
The new position at the Justice Department, dubbed the “domestic terrorism counsel,” will serve as the main point of contact for U.S. attorney offices nationwide and will identify trends across cases, help shape strategy and “analyze legal gaps that need to be closed,” said Assistant Attorney General John Carlin.

Washington D.C. Spends $30K Per Student; Group Says It's Not Enough!

Michigan Capitol Confidential ^ | 10/15/2015 | Tom Gantert

Per student spending by public schools in the District of Columbia outstrips that of all 50 states. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, as of 2012, D.C. was annually spending a total of $25,038 per pupil.
Nevertheless, in 2013 Colorado-based Augenblick, Palaich and Associates – the firm recently chosen to produce an upcoming education funding “adequacy” study for the State of Michigan – released a report claiming that D.C. wasn’t spending enough.
APA’s Washington funding study concluded that to adequately educate students D.C. needs to increase the amount of funding it provides by 22.1 percent.
The study concluded: “Despite the current level of education funding, the UPSFF (D.C.’s Uniform Per Student Funding Formula) will need to be increased to ensure all schools have the resources they need to enable students to successfully meet D.C. academic performance standards. The UPSFF should also include additional funding to address the learning needs of students at risk of academic failure.”
Neal McCluskey, an education analyst with the CATO Institute, is skeptical. “The District of Columbia has the highest per-pupil spending in the nation by more than $4,000 over New York which spends the second most,” he said.“There is really not a whole lot of evidence to support the contention that the more that’s spent on education the better the results will be.”
When asked to comment on the D.C. study, APA Vice President Justin Silverstein said education funding studies involve a myriad of complexities and should not be evaluated superficially.
“You can’t accurately evaluate a study when you do not dig into its context and unless it [the evaluation] points out where resources are to be added and takes all the details into account,” Silverstein said. “These studies assess many aspects that are very complex and need to be taken in that context.”
The D.C. study was one of the 12 most-recently published education funding studies APA conducted for various states. All came to the same conclusion, that current funding is inadequate must be increased.
Michigan is paying the firm to produce a study that is supposed to define how much this state should spend to adequately educate students. During the December lame duck legislative session, Gov. Rick Snyder and legislative Republicans agreed to purchase the study as part of deal to get Democrats to support placing Proposal 1, the ill-fated attempt to secure road funding dollars, on the ballot.
In many states, "adequacy studies" are used as the basis for lawsuits and judicial rulings that require automatic tax increases for more spending. Last year, Michigan Board of Education President John Austin, a Democrat, said education adequacy studies are "a term the teachers unions and Democrats use to argue for more money."
The methodologies used for the D.C. study were dubbed the “Professional Judgment” methodology and the “Successful Schools” methodology. It appears that those same methodologies will be used for the upcoming Michigan study.
At 197 pages APA’s D.C. study is voluminous. On Page ES 14 of the study, under the heading of "Recommendations," the following were reported as key factors driving the need for additional funding:
Characteristics of the student population. The District has a high proportion of students from low-income, severely disadvantaged, and non-English-speaking families. These students require additional instructional resources and student support services to be successful learners. High labor costs. The high cost of living in the city and metropolitan area and the predominance of a unionized workforce in DCPS means the District has a relatively high wage scale for educators. Education reform. The District of Columbia, along with many states across the nation, is taking steps to implement the Common Core State Standards for kindergarten through grade 12. This will require significant investments in new and upgraded curricula, instructional programs, assessment, and professional development. It will also require increased coordination across grade levels and schools. Commitment to equity between sectors. By law, the District must provide operating funds through the Uniform Per Student Funding Formula, its primary local funding” to both DCPS and public charter schools. Meeting this obligation requires additional resources because of past differences in funding between the sectors.

Obama’s Comments on Clinton Emails Collide With F.B.I. Inquiry (Agents angry with Obama)

The New York Times ^ | Friday, October 16, 2015 | Matt Apuzzo and Michael S. Scmidt

Federal agents were still cataloging the classified information from Hillary Rodham Clinton’s personal email server last week when President Obama went on television and played down the matter.
“I don’t think it posed a national security problem,” Mr. Obama said Sunday on CBS’s “60 Minutes.” He said it was a mistake for Mrs. Clinton to use a private email account when she was secretary of state, but his conclusion was unmistakable: “This is not a situation in which America’s national security was endangered.”
Those statements angered F.B.I. agents who have been working for months to determine whether Ms. Clinton’s email setup had in fact put any of the nation’s secrets at risk, according to current and former law enforcement officials.
Investigators have not reached any conclusions about whether the information on the server had been compromised or whether to recommend charges, according to the law enforcement officials. But to investigators, it sounded as if Mr. Obama had already decided the answers to their questions and cleared anyone involved of wrongdoing.
But Mr. Obama’s remarks in the Clinton email case were met with particular anger at the F.B.I. because they echoed comments he made in 2012, shortly after it was revealed that a former C.I.A. director, David H. Petraeus, was under investigation, accused of providing classified information to a mistress who was writing a book about him.
“I have no evidence at this point, from what I’ve seen, that classified information was disclosed that in any way would have had a negative impact on our national security,” the president said at a 2012 news conference, as the F.B.I. was trying to answer that very question about Mr. Petraeus.
