Scooter Libby went to prison for less than what Hillary did!

Flopping Aces ^ | 08-05-15 | DrJohn

David Petraeus saw his career come to an end for mishandling classified information.
Sandy Berger was punished for mishandling classified information.
Scooter Libby got it worst of all. And he did virtually nothing.
Remember Scooter Libby?
Libby was the Bush aide who went to prison for having a bad memory. He was hunted down and persecuted by Peter Fitzgerald who was looking for the scalp of the person who allegedly leaked the name of Valerie Plame.
Libby went to prison and he wasn't even the leaker. Richard Armitrage was. Jennifer Rubin:
Right Turn readers know my view that former vice president Dick Cheney’s chief of staff Scooter Libby was dealt a severe injustice by prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald who knew early on that another official, Richard Armitage, had leaked Valerie Plame’s name. Fitzgerald asserted that Libby had lied to prosecutors rather than mistakenly recalled a phone call with now-deceased reporter Tim Russert. The case should never have gone forward (or, if it had, a memory expert should have been permitted to testify), and President George W. Bush should have granted Libby a full pardon before leaving office.  (As an aside, Libby’s memory was notoriously bad as now-Fact Checker and then-State Department reporter Glenn Kessler’s testimony in the case confirmed. As Glenn has summarized it, Libby told the FBI that he told Kessler about Plame; Kessler testified he did not. So Libby was convicted for telling the FBI he didn’t tell Russert about Plame and falsely admitted to telling Kessler about Plame—when he did not. If this was a “cover up,” it was the oddest in history, but it does seem in retrospect that Libby’s memory was awful.) Getting back to the conviction, it cannot be forgotten that Armitage and his boss Colin Powell deserve our scorn for not coming forward early on to exonerate Libby.
It is argued that Fitzgerald engaged in prosecutorial abuse:
Mr. Fitzgerald, who had the classified file of Ms. Plame’s service, withheld her State Department cover from Ms. Miller—and from Mr. Libby’s lawyers, who had requested Ms. Plame’s employment history. Despite his constitutional and ethical obligation to provide exculpatory evidence, Mr. Fitzgerald encouraged Ms. Miller to misinterpret her ambiguous notes as showing that Mr. Libby brought up Ms. Plame.
He already knew Libby was not the source of the leak. Libby ends up in prison for having a bad memory. Criticism of Fitzgerald came from several quarters:
On August 28, 2006, Christopher Hitchens asserted that Richard Armitage was the primary source of the Valerie Plame leak and that Fitzgerald knew this at the beginning of his investigation.[132] This was supported a month later by Armitage himself, who stated that Fitzgerald had instructed him not to go public with this information.[133]Investor's Business Daily questioned Fitzgerald's truthfulness in an editorial, stating "From top to bottom, this has been one of the most disgraceful abuses of prosecutorial power in this country's history...The Plame case proves [Fitzgerald] can bend the truth with the proficiency of the slickest of pols."[134]In a September 2008 Wall Street Journal editorial, attorney Alan Dershowitz cited the "questionable investigation[s]" of Scooter Libby as evidence of the problems brought to the criminal justice process by "politically appointed and partisan attorney[s] general".[135] In April 2015, also writing in The Wall Street JournalHoover Institution fellow Peter Berkowitz argued that statements by Judith Miller, in her recently published memoir, raised anew contentions that her testimony was inaccurate and that Fitzgerald's conduct as prosecutor was inappropriate.[136]
Libby did essentially nothing and went to prison. Hillary Clinton mishandled classified information. The Inspector General for the intelligence community sampled 40 Clinton emails and concluded that 10% of them contained classified information. Moreover, it was determined that the emails "were classified when they were sent and are classified now."
That's unfortunate for Hillary, who continues to assert something different:

'Stalk them and kill them,' Farrakhan says, calling for 10,000 volunteers to kill whites!

Christian Examiner ^ | 8/5/15 | Gregory Tomlin

MIAMI (Christian Examiner) – In a sermon reminiscent of the fiery rhetoric of an Islamic State preacher, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, now 82, said in Miami the time has come for 10,000 black volunteers to kill white Americans.
In the sermon at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Farrakhan said he was looking for "10,000 in the midst of the million ... 10,000 fearless men who say death is sweeter than continued life under tyranny" to retaliate against white Americans because of their alleged oppression of black people.
Farrakhan said the Quran calls for retaliation when "slaves" are oppressed.
"Retaliation is a prescription from God to calm the breath of those whose children have been slain. So if the federal government will not intercede in our affairs, then we must rise up and kill those who kill us. Stalk them and kill them and let them feel the pain of death that we are feeling," Farrakhan said.
"Death is sweeter than to continue to live and bury our children while white folks give the killer hamburgers," Farrakhan said, referencing the arrest of Dylann Storm Roof, who killed nine black church members at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C., June 17.
"Death is sweeter than watching us slaughter each other to the joy of a 400 year old enemy. Death is sweet. The Quran teaches persecution is worse than slaughter."
The content of Farrakhan's sermon was published at his website Final Call, which promotes the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Million Man March on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. That event will take place in October, the culmination of his national "Justice, or Else" tour.
According to the Nation of Islam paper, the anniversary march "will be no frolic, no picnic, no folly, but a serious demand for justice place before a government rife with injustice in police killings of blacks, Native Americans and others inside America."
Farrakhan also pointed to the oppression of blacks by whites as the chief reason for unrest in America, but also pointed to the crisis of blacks killing other blacks through "fratricidal violence."
"And the police, when they kill us, they put the lie out first and then back up the lie with the institutions of government of White Supremacy. And so even though we march and even though we fight against this injustice, it continues unabated."
Farrakhan said whites, "like serpents," are deceptive.
"They would like to charge us with radicalizing our people by telling the truth, but every time they kill a black man or beat up a black woman or unjustly stop us for traffic violations and then kill us, we are being radicalized. They are the ones who are radicalizing us. All we are doing is telling the truth of what they are doing," Farrakhan said.

Networks Censor Release of Fifth Planned Parenthood Baby Parts Video; Continue Lion Coverage

Newsbusters ^ | 8/5/15 | Curtis Houck

With the ABC and CBS preoccupied with continuing coverage of Cecil the Lion and NBC harping on Jeb Bush’s comments about women’s health, the major broadcast networks found zero time on Tuesday night to mention the fact that arguably the most disturbing video yet in the Planned Parenthood scandal was released hours earlier by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP).

Despite multiple mentions on cable networks CNN, the Fox News Channel (FNC), and MSNBC, the “big three” networks reverted back to their old ways of censoring the CMP videos as they did in the case of the third video (plus that of the second video for ABC and NBC).

(video at link)

One of the many FNC programs to cover this fifth video was The Kelly File to the tune of a full report from chief legal correspondent Shannon Bream. Prior to Bream’s story, host Megyn Kelly set the scene:

Developing tonight, fallout from a brand new under cover video targeting a Planned Parenthood location in Texas. Like others before it, it is extremely graphic, even detailing how doctors can get, quote, “get creative” with abortion procedures to get the bodies more in tact. Critics argue this is just further proof that the organization is profiting off the sale of dead fetuses, but Planned Parenthood denies any wrongdoing.

Doing the work that the networks showed no interest in doing, Bream reported that this installment features a Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast official named Melissa Ferrell who’s identified as the director of research for the Houston-area abortion clinic.

Speaking with the undercover actors, Bream explained that Ferrell “talk[ed] with actors posing as fetal tissue who ask, if abortion procedures can be changed in an effort to get a more beneficial result for the buyers.”

Following a clip from the video where Ferrell openly the possibility of changing the abortion procedure “to obtain intact fetal cadavers,” Bream brought up how federal law stands in contrast to what’s talked about in the video:

Federal law requires abortion providers to guarantee they will not alter the timing, methods or procedures used to terminate a pregnancy solely for the purposes of obtaining tissue. The videos, as you know, has sparked efforts on Capitol Hill to take taxpayer dollars away from Planned Parenthood.

For more on the distressing contents of this latest video, the Media Research Center’s Katie Yoder offered a detailed summary of the video in a piece you can find here.

Instead of covering this upsetting video that raises further questions about the organization that carries out hundreds of thousands of abortions annually, ABC’s World News Tonight dedicated at 13-second news brief to the announcement by the major U.S. airlines that they will no longer allow large trophy prize animals to be carried on their flights.

On the CBS Evening News, anchor Scott Pelley reserved 18 seconds to inform viewers that over $800,000 has been raised for an organization seeking to protect lions in Zimbabwe and a new Beanie Baby has been created in honor of Cecil.

As the MRC has reported over the past three weeks, the networks have consistently shown where their priorities lie in terms of covering the Planned Parenthood scandal compared to Cecil the lion’s death in Africa.

The relevant portions of the transcript from FNC’s The Kelly File on August 4 can be found below.

MEGYN KELLY: Developing tonight, fallout from a brand new under cover video targeting a Planned Parenthood location in Texas. Like others before it, it is extremely graphic, even detailing how doctors can get, quote, “get creative” with abortion procedures to get the bodies more in tact. Critics argue this is just further proof that the organization is profiting off the sale of dead fetuses., but Planned Parenthood denies any wrong doing. Shannon Bream reports from Washington. Shannon?

SHANNON BREAM: Megyn, this is the fifth release from the Center for Medical Progress showing a woman CMP identifies as Melissa Ferrell. They say she’s the director of research at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, talking with actors posing as fetal tissue who ask, if abortion procedures can be changed in an effort to get a more beneficial result for the buyers.

FERRELL: – and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, then we can make it part of the budget that any dissections are this and splitting specimens into different shipments is this. I mean, that’s – it’s all just a matter of line items.

BREAM: Federal law requires abortion providers to guarantee they will not alter the timing, methods or procedures used to terminate a pregnancy solely for the purposes of obtaining tissue. The videos, as you know, has sparked efforts on Capitol Hill to take taxpayer dollars away from Planned Parenthood. Well, that was shot down in the Senate last night.

BREAM: Planned Parenthood maintains it has done nothing illegal and does not profit off the transfer of these fetal organs and tissues. As the organization's president Cecile Richards said in an interview published in The New York Times today, she says the tactics used to record the undercover videos amount to, quote, “depravity.”

BOOM – Univision Reluctantly Reports Donald Trump Leading With Latino Republicans….OOPS!

The Conservative Treehouse ^ | August 5, 2015 | sundance

Donald Trump previously said: “I will win the Hispanic vote in this election“.Guess what? He’s right.

In a Public Policy Polling survey, Trump leads with 34% of Hispanic voters, surpassing Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. What makes this poll even more delicious, is that it had to be reported on Univision:
ROGELIO MORA TAGLE, CORRESPONDENT: And it’s that upon launching his campaign, Trump said among other things that the people who emigrate from Mexico bring to the United States drugs, crime and are rapists. Those comments, for 55% of those polled, are insulting and racist, and out of place in a presidential campaign.
But despite the negative numbers, among those polled there is also a percentage that believes the controversy generated by Donald Trump has helped bring to the table a very important topic: immigration. That’s what 29% believe, while another 14% believe Donald Trump had the courage to say what he thinks. (link)
That popping sound you’re hearing is the rapid noise of media and punditry ‘splodey heads.

Gun Lies ^ | August 5, 2015 | John Stossel

My town, New York City, enforces rigid gun laws. Police refused to assign me a gun permit. The law doesn't even let me hold a fake gun on TV to demonstrate something.
But New York politicians are so eager to vilify gun ownership that they granted an exception to the anti-gun group States United to Prevent Gun Violence. New York allowed States United to set up a fake gun store, where cameras filmed potential gun customers being spoofed by an actor pretending to be a gun-seller.
"This a nine-millimeter semi-automatic. It's a very handy gun. It's easy to use," he says. "You can carry it in a purse like that gal from Wal-Mart. Her two-year-old son reaches into her pocketbook, pulls it out, shoots her. Dead, gone, no Mom!"
States United then made that footage into an anti-gun public service announcement. "Over 60 percent of Americans think owning a gun will make them safer. In fact, owning a gun increases the risk of homicide, suicide and unintentional death," says the video.
It's a powerful message. But it's a lie, says John Lott of the Crime Prevention Research Center. He says that gun control advocates lie all the time.
Lott acknowledges the tragedies. Sometimes a gun in the home is used in a homicide or suicide, or leads to accidental death, but he adds, "It also makes it easier for people to defend themselves -- women and the elderly in particular."
Lott says, "Every place in the world that's tried to ban guns ... has seen big increases in murder rates. You'd think at least one time, some place, when they banned guns, murder rates would go down. But that hasn't been the case."
I pushed back: what about people harming themselves?
"There are lots of different ways for people to commit suicide," Lott said, and researchers have looked at how those tragedies are affected by access to guns. "We find that people commit suicide in other ways if they don't have guns."
What about accidents? Lott replies that accidental shooting deaths are relatively rare: "about 500 a year." That sounds bad, but about 400 Americans are killed by overdosing on acetaminophen each year (most of them suicides), and almost as many Americans drown in swimming pools.
"It would be nice if it was zero (but) consider that 120 million Americans own guns," Lott says.
Often those guns are used to prevent crime. The homeowner pulls out the gun and the attacker flees. No one knows how often this happens because these prevented crimes don't become news and don't get reported to the government, but an estimate from the Violence Policy Center suggests crimes may be prevented by guns tens of thousands of times per year.
Add politics to the mix and the anti-gun statistics get even more misleading. Gang members in their late teens or early adulthood killing each other get called "children." Fights between gangs near schools get called school "mass shootings."
The number of mass shootings in America has been roughly level over the past 40 years, but the New York Times still runs headlines like, "FBI Confirms a Sharp Rise in Mass Shootings Since 2000." That headline is absolutely true, but only because they deceitfully picked the year 2000 as their start point, and that was a year with unusually few mass shootings. It's as if the paper wants to make it seem as if mass shootings are always on the rise, even as crime keeps going down.
It all helps stoke paranoia about guns. Some people respond by calling for more controls. Others, fearing the government may ban gun sales, respond by buying more weapons. The number of people holding permits to carry concealed weapons has skyrocketed to 12.8 million, up from 4.6 million just before President Obama took office. Since 40 percent of American households now own guns, anyone who wants to take them away will have a fight on his hands.
Has the increased gun ownership and carrying of guns led to more violence? Not at all. "Violent crime across the board has plummeted," says Lott. "In 1991, the murder rate was about 9.8 (people) per 100,000. (Now) it's down to about 4.2."
I can't convince my friends in New York City, but it's just a fact: More guns -- less crime.

Mega-Rich Hillary Cares Oh So Much for Nation's Poor ^ | August 5, 2015 | Star Parker

Hillary Clinton just spoke, along with Republican presidential contender and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, at the National Urban League Conference.
She preceded Bush on stage and used the moment to seize his campaign slogan, "Right to Rise," and give it her own spin to attack the governor before he could speak.
According to Clinton, "I don't think you can credibly say everyone has a right to rise and then say you're for ... repealing Obamacare. People can't rise if they can't afford health care. They can't rise if the minimum wage is too low to live on. They can't rise if their governor makes it harder for them to get a college education. And you cannot seriously talk about the right to rise and support laws that deny the right to vote."
She topped it all off by saying, "The opportunity gap that America is facing is not just about economic inequality, it is about racial inequality."
The AFL-CIO publishes an annual report called Executive PayWatch. According to the most recent report, in 2014 the average pay for a CEO at a Standard & Poor's 500 company was $13.5 million. At the same time, average take-home pay of nonsupervisory workers was $36,134. So on average, per the AFL-CIO, CEO earnings were 373 times greater than worker income.
Anyone can email companies and the Securities Exchange Commission through the AFL-CIO website to express their outrage at this presumed unfairness.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton's newly released tax returns show that she and Bill earned $139.1 million between 2007 and 2014, an average of $17.4 million per year. In 2014, the power couple earned $20 million in speaker fees -- 553 times that aforementioned average worker salary, 50 percent greater than the CEO ratio.
Though some might believe that the Clintons' speeches are more valuable to the U.S. economy than the management of our largest corporations, it seems that even the AFL-CIO (which has poured millions into the Clinton Foundation) might be having second thoughts. So far Clinton hasn't won the endorsement of the huge and powerful union.
Clearly, Mrs. Clinton knows something about rising in America.
But is there anything in her path to wealth that's relevant to the minority Americans whose interests the National Urban League allegedly represent?
Her message to the Urban League: No minority has a prayer without Clinton controlling your health care, your school, deciding what you should be paid, and protecting you from racism.
You, too, can have a career in politics and rake in $20 million in speaking fees by convincing half the country that their only path to a decent life is through you.
Ron Haskins of the Brookings Institution notes four trends impeding upward mobility in America: family breakdown, declining work rates among males, failing public schools and increasing demand for higher education and skills.
These problems are uniformly made worse by the political world Hillary Clinton loves and gets rich in. The teachers unions that support her promote moral relativism in public schools and fight school choice. The work rate for young black males is under 50 percent, largely due to the minimum wage Hillary Clinton loves. The gross inefficiencies of government health care are emerging, and reports of increased premiums under Obamacare are widespread -- CBS Moneywatch reports several insurers proposing rate increases of 51 percent in 2016.
Despite left-wing rhetoric about voting discrimination, black voter turnout in the last presidential election exceeded white turnout.
And then there's Clinton's love affair with the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, which receives $500 million in taxpayer funds and performs around 330,000 abortions annually. According to, which pulled data from the 2010 census, 78 percent of Planned Parenthood abortion factories are in minority neighborhoods. This speaks to Clinton's particular concern for black lives and black families.
Political power may have made Hillary Clinton rich. But it is making America, particularly minority America, poorer.
Here's a news flash for Republicans. Black America is not monolithic. The left-wing National Urban League may still buy Clinton's failed big-government utopia. But there are millions of churchgoing conservative black Christian Americans looking for real change.
