72 employees at DHS on terror watch list

Congressman Stephen Lynch (D- MA) was one of 47 Democrats who joined with Republicans to support a GOP bill to tighten screening requirements for "Syrian refugees." I happen to think this is moot since the FBI Director has made it crystal clear we can screen all we want, but since there is no intelligence to refer back to, the process will yield unreliable results. That aside, Lynch is speaking out on his lack of confidence in the Department of Homeland Security as well as the Transportation Security Administration. On Tuesday, during an interview on Boston Public Radio, Lynch stated:
---------
Back in August, we did an investigation--the inspector General did--of the Department of Homeland Security, and they had 72 individuals that were on the terrorist watch list that were actually working at the Department of Homeland Security. The director had to resign because of that. Then we went further and did and eight-airport investigation. We had staffers go into eight different airports to test the department of homeland security screening process at major airports. They had a 95 percent failure rate. We had folks--this was a testing exercise, so we had folks going in there with guns on their ankles, and other weapons on their persons, and there was a 95 percent failure rate.
-----------
Six dozen DHS employees are on the terror watch list and the TSA has a 95% failure rate. No further comment is needed. The numbers speak for themselves. (And one can only wonder how the announcement of the TSA failure rate may encourage terrorists to up the ante with respect to air travel.)
