‘Enough talk!’ Ted Cruz pushes for US embassy to Jerusalem as a sign of RESPECT

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has made American commitment to Israel’s security a centerpiece of his campaign for president, and he’s vowing one unmistakable plan to drive the point home to the rest of the world.
“The next president should announce that America is moving its embassy to Jerusalem,” Cruz said during a foreign policy address on Thursday.
“Enough talk! We need a leader who will act and respect the eternal capital of Israel.”

Cruz was accepting the “Defender of Israel” award at the Champion of Jewish Values International Awards Gala in Manhattan when he gave the speech.
Other Republican presidential candidates including, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, have stated being in favor of moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, but Cruz took on a hard-lined tone at the event.
Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act in 1995 that ordered the U.S. embassy to be established in Israel’s capital, but gave the president authority to waive the law if it was in the interest of national security.
Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama have taken advantage of that option. Cruz said he would put an end to the wait and move the embassy immediately.
“For decades political candidates, Republicans and Democrats, have talked about doing so,” Cruz said.
Moving the embassy, Cruz said, would send the indisputable message the next White House considers “Israel indispensable to Middle East stability and world security.”
“We are living in dangerous times. The nation of Israel has never been in more jeopardy,” he said.
