DOJ To Give Money From Bank Of America Settlement To Liberal Activist Groups [formerly ACORN]!

Daily Caller via yahoo.com ^ | August 28, 2014
Judicial Watch reports that the Department of Justice is giving liberal activist groups money from a $16.6 billion settlement with Bank of America. The groups benefitting from the lawsuit, according to Investor’s Business Daily, are the National Council of La Raza, Operation Hope, National Community Reinvestment Coalition, and Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America. The money also went to “delinquent borrowers” in Chicago, Oakland, Detroit, Philadelphia, and other major “Democrat strongholds.” “This is a wealth redistribution scheme disguised as a lawsuit,” Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, told The Daily Caller. “And who benefits from the distribution? Interest groups the administration relies on, outside interest groups, allies and politicians in communities trying to benefit as well.” Fitton noted that these liberal groups are basically what’s left of the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN) network, and that President Barack Obama has ties to ACORN.

Ferguson isn’t about black rage against cops. It’s white rage against progress!

The Washington Post ^ | August 29, 2014 | Professor Carol Anderson
When we look back on what happened in Ferguson, Mo., during the summer of 2014, it will be easy to think of it as yet one more episode of black rage ignited by yet another police killing of an unarmed African American male. But that has it precisely backward. What we’ve actually seen is the latest outbreak of white rage. Sure, it is cloaked in the niceties of law and order, but it is rage nonetheless.
Protests and looting naturally capture attention. But the real rage smolders in meetings where officials redraw precincts to dilute African American voting strength or seek to slash the government payrolls that have long served as sources of black employment. It goes virtually unnoticed, however, because white rage doesn’t have to take to the streets and face rubber bullets to be heard. Instead, white rage carries an aura of respectability and has access to the courts, police, legislatures and governors, who cast its efforts as noble, though they are actually driven by the most ignoble motivations. White rage recurs in American history. It exploded after the Civil War, erupted again to undermine the Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education decision and took on its latest incarnation with Barack Obama’s ascent to the White House. For every action of African American advancement, there’s a reaction, a backlash. The North’s victory in the Civil War did not bring peace. Instead, emancipation brought white resentment that the good ol’ days of black subjugation were over. Legislatures throughout the South scrambled to reinscribe white supremacy and restore the aura of legitimacy that the anti-slavery campaign had tarnished. Lawmakers in several states created the Black Codes, which effectively criminalized blackness, sanctioned forced labor and undermined every tenet of democracy....

With Labor Day close, unions don’t have much to celebrate!

Boston Globe ^ | August 29, 2014 | By Evan Horowitz
Labor Day used to be more than a summer-closing holiday; it was a celebration of labor unions and the American labor movement. That’s easy to forget these days because labor unions don’t have much to celebrate. At the height of their influence in the 1950s, labor unions could claim to represent about 1 of every 3 American workers. Today, it’s 1 in 9 — and falling. Some have seen the shrinking size and waning influence of labor unions as a sign that the US economy is growing more flexible and dynamic, but there’s mounting evidence that it is also contributing to slow wage growth and the rise in inequality. It’s really a tale of two sectors, the public and the private. Public-sector unions — meaning those that represent local, state, and federal government employees — have been pretty stable. In 1983, about 37 percent of public sector workers were in unions. Today, it is 35 percent. Private sector unions have been decimated. Their membership numbers fell nearly 60 percent since 1983, partly in response to globalization and partly as a result of various legal changes that have curtailed unions’ ability to organize.

Ben Carson Hints At 2016 Run But Says: ‘I Won’t Become A Politician’!

Daily Caller ^ | August 29, 2014 | Alex Pappas
Neurosurgeon Ben Carson is continuing to hint that he will run for president in 2016, though pledges that if elected he won’t become a “politician” in the traditional sense. “I will tell you that I’m not a politician, and I don’t believe in political correctness,” Carson told the crowd Friday at a political summit in Texas. “So I may say something that will offend someone. And I frankly never plan on becoming a politician. It doesn’t mean that I won’t do something in public office, but I won’t be a politician in the process.” Carson made the comments Friday afternoon in Dallas at Americans for Prosperity’s Defending the American Dream Summit.

David Cameron stands up to Islamists -- a lesson for Barack Obama!

Fox News ^ | 29 Aug 2014 | Nile Gardiner
The contrast between Friday’s press conference in London by British Prime Minister David Cameron and Thursday’s White House remarks by President Obama could not have been starker. Mr. Cameron delivered a robust assessment of the scale of the Islamist threat to Great Britain and to the free world. He told journalists assembled at Downing Street that “what we are facing in Iraq now with ISIL (Islamic State) is a greater threat to our security than we have seen before.” While David Cameron appeared self-assured and determined in his approach, Barack Obama came across as a deer in the headlights, unable to outline a coherent U.S. response to a rapidly growing crisis in the Middle East. He made it clear that ISIS must not be allowed to establish an Islamist caliphate in Iraq. If they succeeded, “we would be facing a terrorist state on the shores of the Mediterranean and bordering a NATO member.” In announcing his government’s decision to raise the UK terrorism threat level to “severe,” the PM announced a series of measures to combat the Islamist threat within Britain itself, including tough new measures against British-born, self-styled “jihadists,” hundreds of whom have traveled to Iraq and Syria in recent months to fight with ISIS. Cameron addressed the Islamist menace head-on, declaring that “the root cause of this threat to our security is clear: it is a poisonous ideology of Islamic extremism that is condemned by all states.” In contrast, President Obama’s remarks to the White House press corps Thursday were weak-kneed, meandering and confused, sending mixed messages both to America’s enemies and the American people.

Border Crisis Over For Now?

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said that the crisis of unaccompanied minors at the southern border is over “for now” on Friday. ..... the hotter summer weather is part of the reason for the decrease in unaccompanied minors, but credited actions taken by the Obama administration for the reduction in unaccompanied minors at the border, saying, “There is no doubt that the administration has made a substantial contribution to the reduction in those numbers.”

(Evan Vucci/AP) By Editorial Board August 29 President Obama Needs To Focus On How The United States Can Meet Global Challenges PRESIDENT OBAMA’S acknowledgment that “we don’t have a strategy yet” in Syria understandably attracted the most attention after his perplexing meeting with reporters Thursday. But his restatement of the obvious was not the most dismaying aspect of his remarks. The president’s goal, to the extent he had one, seemed to be to tamp down all the assessments of gathering dangers that his own team had been issuing over the previous days. This argument with his own administration is alarming on three levels.
