Analogies for ObamaScare -- Another Rabid Rant

Dan Miller's Blog ^ | November 16, 2013 | Dan Miller

We must be really special to have the smartest person in the world in charge; or something.

The people in charge of ObamaScare -- and of the economy in general -- are as intelligent and sophisticated as the financial experts illuminated by this video.

"Our" federally managed financial system resembles ObamaScare, the Obama Maladministration and the insurance companies with which President Obama et al are currently dealing.
Here's a more recent analogy from the wonderful world of federally regulated high finance. According to an article at Moonbattery titledComing Next -- Race Based Car Loans, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has proposed rules under which

car dealers must provide a proportionately equivalent number of car loans, at the same interest rate, to all racial groups, regardless of whether members of these groups are equally likely to repay the loan. Essentially, if Customer X has money in the bank and has never missed a day of work in his life, and Customer Y is living on welfare and just got out of jail, they must be regarded as equal credit risks if Customer Y is lucky enough to be black. [Emphasis added.]Obviously, there are plenty of blacks who are good credit risks. Equally obviously, there are many who are not. You would have to spend your entire life sealed in a windowless room with no access to the outside world except a TV tuned to PBS not to know that there are cultural differences that make blacks as a group significantly less likely to repay their loans than whites.
To achieve the liberal conception of equality, these differences must be papered over by forcing car dealers to make bad loans, effectively subsidizing cars for those who don’t pay their bills at the expense of those of us who do pay our bills, because we will end up having to pay more to make up the loss. [Emphasis added.]
If all of this sounds familiar, you could be thinking of the Community Reinvestment Act, spawned by Carter but doubled down on by Clinton and Obama, by which the federal government forced banks to make mortgage loans on a racial basis lest they be accused of “redlining.” This was a primary cause of the 2008 economic crash.
Is this also a bit reminiscent of ObamaScare?

Sure it is. But ObamaScare will be OK soon because it appears that President Obama is we are on the way to compensating insurance companies for financial burdens they face because of federally imposed requirements that unnecessary and undesired medical coverage be provided. Single eighty year old male? Of course you should be required to buy, and insurance companies should be required to sell, approved medical insurance so that if when you get pregnant you will be covered. Since (in most cases) one's sex is by chance rather than by one's choice, it's only fair that somebody has to pay.
ObamaCare Pigs
It's unfair to have problems such as fifteen children and nobody (aside from local, State and Federal agencies) to support them; it's not herfault, so Somebody else has to be held accountable! Therefore, let's hold the rich White Republicans and their vile war on women accountable. Remember the binders full of women in which they imprison them? Not only that, they don't believe in man-made global warming climate change, which causes lots of unfairness for innocent people. They have no empathy and don't realize that since allcultures and all people are equal -- although some are more equal than others -- the burdens the less equal impose on the more equal must be shared by the less equal.
Don't worry, because by the end of President Obama's time in office all will be well for everyone who is still being treated unfairly.

Louie Gohmert Exposes Obamacare Secret Security Force!

DC Clothesline ^ | 11/16/2013 | Dean D. Garrison

Do you ever have those moments when you feel validated? I had one of those moments this morning. Finally someone is talking about the secret security force that is mandated by Obamacare. Representative Louie Gohmert (Republican – Texas – 1st District) dropped his bombshell last week on The Janet Mefferd Show.

Paul Joseph Watson reports:

Referring to a section of the gargantuan Obamacare law which discusses “the president’s own commissioned and non-commissioned officer corps,” Gohmert drew attention to the notion that under the pretext of a “national emergency,” such individuals could be used to impose some form of medical martial law.

Under the Affordable Care Act, the Ready Reserve Corps is directed to “assist full-time Commissioned Corps personnel to meet both routine public health and emergency response missions.”
“It says it is for international health crises, but then it doesn’t include the word ‘health’ when it talks about national emergencies,” said Gohmert.
“I’ve asked, what kind of training are they getting….I want to know are they using weapons to train, or are they being taught to use syringes and health care items?” asked the Congressman, adding that “no clear answers” had been forthcoming on the issue.”
Combined with the continued DHS arms build up along with the federal agency’s hiring of armed guards with “Top Secret” security clearances, Gohmert characterized the issue as “very disturbing”.
I first reported on this in August after reading a sobering article in The Daily Mail. Why does Obamacare need its own police force? The IRS already has agents trained with a multitude of weapons including AR-15s.
In the wake of Jeff Duncan’s reporting of IRS agents being trained with AR-15s I think we should be at least somewhat concerned with a breaking news story about the new “ObamaCare” Police. It would seem that the IRS implementation will not be the only strong arm of ObamaCare but that Health and Human Services will have a substantial number of investigative storm troopers as well.
The Daily Mail reports:
More than 1,600 new employees hired by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources in the aftermath of Obamacare’s passage include just two described as ‘consumer safety’ officers, but 86 tasked with ‘criminal investigating’ – indicating that the agency is building an army of detectives to sleuth out violations of a law that many in Congress who supported it still find confusing.
On the day President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law in 2010, HHS received authority from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to make as many as 1,814 new hires under an emergency ‘Direct Hiring Authority’ order.
We are going to need more hollow point bullets it would seem. Is anyone really shocked by the fact that we have a brand new enforcement branch of HHS? I doubt it. This seems to be the norm in Washington these days. Last week we featured the story of a retired Marine Colonel who claims that a domestic army is being built. And who could blame anyone for thinking that? It is happening right in front of us.
Folks I made the comment at the beginning of this article about being validated because sometimes I feel really beat up by the “tin foil hat haters.”
Do you think I wake up each day and want to write about things that will leave me labeled as a lunatic? No I do not. I really don’t like people calling me crazy. That’s not my goal in life. I try to report these things to you because they are the truth and very few others seem to want to report such stories.
FactCheck.org states that Obamacare, “creates the ready reserve of individuals who can be called up for service by the U.S. surgeon general in times of need.” These are not things that I pull from thin air.
I have been screaming at the top of my lungs for almost a year that this stuff was happening and reaching dangerous levels. There is a police state being formed and your rights as an American citizen may soon be in dire jeopardy. I don’t know the time frame. But I do know it’s coming.
You can keep laughing at me if you want. That is your prerogative. This stuff is in black and white for everyone to see yet some just don’t want to take it seriously.
What I would kindly suggest is that you take a serious look at your self-defense capabilities. I am not really a prepper. My family is really in no financial position to stockpile anything. I would think that I am not the only one. The economy is horrible.
So here is my take. Guns and ammo are the most important thing by far. If you have firepower then you can hunt for food.
But good luck fighting off the bad guys with that freeze dried lasagna.

8 Reasons The Republican Party Has A Bright Future!

Townhall.com ^ | November 16, 2013 | John Hawkins

Losing to Barack Obama in 2012 shook the confidence of many Republicans and it's easy to understand why. After all, if you lose to the worst President in history, what does that say about you? Combine that with the frustrations so many conservatives have with the GOP and it's easy to write off the Republican Party. However, it's often darkest before the dawn and many people are missing the fact that the GOP is well positioned to thrive over the next couple of decades.
1) We have the most potent grassroots movement in politics: The GOP has the Tea Party Movement, while the Democrats HAD the Occupy Movement. The Tea Party Movement is about small government, cutting spending, and sticking to the Constitution. The Occupy Movement was about demanding free stuff and avoiding taking baths for weeks at a time. The greatest moment for the Tea Party was the GOP's incredible success in the 2010 elections. The greatest moment for the Occupy Movement was when the occupiers were protesting Wall Street and a bunch of traders dumped hundreds of McDonald's job applications on them out of a window. The Tea Party Movement is still alive and kicking. The Occupy crowd eventually gave it up when the rich liberals stopped sending the protesters free food and they ran out of open space to poop in the city parks.
2) 2010 was the GOP's best year since 1948: It's funny to hear, "The Republican Party can't win anymore," when the GOP had its best year since 1948 less than three years ago. In the 2010 election, the GOP added 6 Senate seats, 63 House seats, and 680 seats in state legislatures around the country. Does that sound like a party that can't win any more? Does that sound like a party that's dying?
3) We should control the House at least until the next census: Not only does the GOP control the House, because of gerrymandering, we're likely to remain firmly in control until the next census. That will give us the capability to slam the brakes on government no matter what happens with the Senate and White House.
4) The party is thriving on the state level: The GOP is doing fantastic on the state level. We control 29 governorships and in the state legislatures, we control the upper chamber in 30 states and the lower chamber in another 28 states. That gives us a deep bench and proves the GOP can be not just competitive, but dominant as long as we play our cards right.
5) Our numbers with minorities are only going to go up: White Americans tend to vote Republican while black and Hispanic Americans tend to vote Democrat. Because demographically there are going to be more black and Hispanic Americans in the coming years, some people think that means the GOP is in deep trouble. Of course, that sort of thinking assumes the GOP will continue to get the same percentage of the black and Hispanic vote that it has always gotten. In actuality, since the GOP has done no outreach of significance in past years, we have every reason to think that our current numbers with minorities are a floor, not a ceiling. The GOP made its first real attempt to showcase minority Republicans during the last GOP convention and the RNC has just begun to pour serious money and manpower into minority outreach. It won't happen overnight, but our numbers with minorities are going to go up significantly in coming years.
6) Short Term: Obamacare means a strong 2014: All the GOP needs to do to have a great 2014 is hammer away relentlessly at Obamacare and highlight scandals like Fast and Furious, the IRS persecution of the Tea Party, and Benghazi next summer while taking care not to aggravate the base. If we do just those three things, we're practically guaranteed to pile on even more seats in the House and we'll have a better than even chance of taking back the Senate.
7) Barack Obama gives us a medium term opening: Barack Obama really is the single worst President in American history. The economy has been bad the entire time he's been in the White House; there are 10 million more Americans out of work than when he came into office. He's incredibly divisive, his foreign policy is in chaos, and his signature achievement is the Hindenburg of government policies. Conservatives have seen how bad he was from day one, but many other Americans are just starting to figure it out. After finally concluding that Democrats can't govern, the American people are going to be much more willing to give the GOP a chance to prove Republicans have what it takes over the next few election cycles.
8) Long term, the ground is very unfavorable to the Democrats: As Grover Norquist likes to say, the Democrats are made up of competing parasitic interest groups. So, when Democrats get into office, they immediately start doling out taxpayer money to their allies to keep them in line. Margaret Thatcher identified the coming problem with that strategy long ago when she said, "The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." Unfortunately for all of us, we have a little too much socialism in this country and we are indeed running out of other people's money. This is bad for the country in general, but it's catastrophic for the Democrats whose entire electoral model is centered around recklessly spending money. The unions, which gulp down an inordinately large slice of the taxpayer pie, are already starting to pay the price. Their membership is down to its lowest level since the thirties and even liberal Meccas like Detroit are slashing their pensions down to nothing because they're out of money and have no other choice.
If we want out children to have the same opportunities and bright future that previous generations of Americans have grown up with, then this country needs a conservative Republican Party to dominate our political process over the next couple of decades. We're going to have the opportunity to save our country and the only question left is whether we're up to the challenge.

You Know You're in a Blue State When...The Last Tax Increase Needs Another Tax Increase to Fix It!

Townhall.com ^ | November 16, 2013 | John Ransom

If you get the feeling we’re surrounded by fools, you’re not alone.
Fools crowd about us everywhere. But nowhere do the fools congregate more than in Illinois, both off the lake, upstate in Chicago, and downstate in Springfield where governors go to get indicted.
For example, downstate, in Springfield, the Illinois Legislature in 2011 hiked corporate taxes 30% and income taxes 67% in attempt to stop government pensions from bankrupting the state.
“The corporate income tax will rise from 7.3% to 9.5%, a 30 percent increase, becoming the fourth-highest state corporate income tax in the United States,” said the Tax Foundation at the time, “and the fourth-highest combined national-local corporate income tax in the industrialized world.”
Not only has Illinois not stopped the pension crisis, which now tops $100 billion, but they have turfed the economy, especially the creation of new jobs. And it's new jobs that really create new tax revenues.
The unemployment rate stands at 9.2% in Illinois versus 7.3% in the rest of the country.
People warned Illinois pols at the time that the precipitous rise in taxes would only hurt the economy and chase businesses to other more tax-friendly states.
"It's like living next door to 'The Simpsons', you know the dysfunctional family down the block?" quipped Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, the state just to the east (and south) of Illinois.
And indeed it is.
But business is still booming for the politicos.
Because there is only one thing better than a sock-it-to-the-corporation tax increase.
And that’s an EXEMPTION to the sock-it-to-the-corporation tax increase.
Who needs lobbyists when you have friends like these?
Businesses are lining up in Illinois to ask for special carve-outs and exemptions from the tax, because you know... taxes are bad for business (rimshot!).
Everyone knows that.
Or at least the folks at Navistar and Sears know that.
According to the Wall Street Journal they are amongst the companies that got carve-outs worth $500 million in tax breaks to stay in Illinois, with Office Depot on deck waiting for their carve-out next.
“In addition to Office Depot,” says the WSJ “at least four companies are awaiting word on special tax credits that require legislative approval. A proposal offering Archer Daniels Midland Co. ADM incentives to remain in the state and hire new workers also failed to pass in the special session.”
But that’s only because we have elections coming up.
Why give Office Depot-- or ADM-- for free what politicos can charge them for twice?
Not to be outdone, the fools upstate in Chicago just saw their credit rating from Fitch’s rating service drop, “citing the city's sluggish economy and its inability to find a solution to its union pension obligations,” reports CNBC.
In July, Moody’s downgraded Chicago debt saying: “While the onus is on the state to reduce the city's pension obligations, it is the purview of the city to increase revenues to support those obligations. Absent significant growth in the city's operating revenues, escalating pension funding requirements will increasingly strain the city's operating budget, as pension outlays compete with other spending priorities, including debt service and public safety.”
Yeah, like cops are getting laid off. Ha!
In Chicago? Riiiight.
Don’t you know that’s someone’s nephew?
The solution, as Moody’s points out, is more and higher taxes. Politicos have gilded pensions so thoroughly that there is no chance in getting relief from pension spending in Illinois. And that income tax increase passed in 2011 was only supposed to be temporary anyway.
So right on time State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson (D), who represents land of the endless highway, at the intersection of highways US-57 and US-74 has proposed a tax increase that would raise taxes on anyone making more than $18,000 per year.
I think I made more than that in my first job in 1979 (Bellman, Evanston Holiday Inn, pictured below).

Supporters say that the tax would raise “as much as an additional $2.4 billion in revenue under one scenario,” reports the Southern.com.
And you know what that means?
When you’re faced with a $100 billion pension shortfall and you raise $2.4 billion from middle class families, you can do a lot more carve-outs for campaign-friendly corporations.
True, unemployment in Illinois won’t get better, but for a lot fools’ nephews, it won’t get worse either.
Wink.
