ICE Director: Illegal Aliens Won’t Automatically Be Deported ^ | September 06, 2013 | Judicial Watch

A director at the Homeland Security agency charged with immigration enforcement has publicly guaranteed that illegal aliens arrested by local police and reported to the feds won’t automatically be deported.
It may seem preposterous but this is reality in the Obama Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The story comes out of King County in Washington State. Under a federal agreement virtually all illegal aliens held at the county jail are put on immigration holds for up to 48 hours. This presumably gives federal authorities the opportunity to initiate deportation procedures.
But lawmakers in the sprawling Puget Sound county of about 2 million residents are considering an ordinance that would limit the number of immigration detainers. One county councilman explains why in a local news report. “Every major immigrant and refugee and minority community in the entirety of King County has written us and said, ‘Will you please try to put the brakes on what ICE is able to do?’”

Dear Obama, It’s Time to Return Your Nobel Peace Prize. Here’s Why.

The Daily Beast ^ | Sep 6, 2013 | Kirsten Powers

How does a Nobel Peace Prize winner justify launching missile strikes in Syria? Or for that matter, a five-year drone war in the Middle East? Kirsten Powers says: he simply can’t.

A Swedish reporter asked President Obama Wednesday, “Could you describe the dilemma to being a Nobel Peace Prize winner and getting ready to attack Syria?”

Military action is, of course, sometimes necessary to maintain peace. Kosovo and World War II are good examples. But the president has not demonstrated that missile attacks in Syria would do anything to achieve peace. Worse, by all accounts, Obama’s “red line” threat was an off-the-cuff remark, not a well thought-out strategy. The U.S. should not attack another country because the president was careless with his words and now wants to protect his personal credibility.
But we don’t even need to look at Syria to conclude that the decent thing would be for Obama to return the prize that he never deserved in the first place.
There’s the obvious problem of Obama escalating a pointless and failing war in Afghanistan. From 2001 to the end of the Bush presidency in 2009, 625 American troops died because of the war. Under Obama’s watch, more than twice that many, some 1,500 soldiers, have died. Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed as well. But nothing undermines the notion of Obama as a leader for peace more than his five-year Middle East drone war. According to the New America Foundation, since 2004, there have been 361 American drone strikes in Pakistan. Of those, only 48 occurred during the Bush administration.

Illegal Aliens Disrupt Town Hall Meeting, Demand Citizenship, Chant 'We'll Be Back' (Video)

Stand With Arizona ^ | 09-06-2013 | John Hill

Arrogant illegal alien protesters continue to disrupt the town hall meetings of Republicans, demanding citizenship.

In Sugarland, TX, outside Houston, illegals interrupted the questions of citizens and tried to take over Rep. Pete Olson's (R-TX-22) immigration and ObamaCare town hall. The organizer even referred to themselves as "undocumented citizens".

Their arrogance is at an all-time high, thanks to Obama's decimation of ICE, and blanket refusal to detain ANY illegal aliens in the United States.
The supporters themselves recorded and posted the video below, presumably to make themselves look good. We think it has the opposite effect.

The Most Embarrassing President of My Lifetime:Obama accepts no responsibility for anything!

cfp ^ | 9/6/13 | d patton

Barack Obama is, without question, the most embarrassing president of my lifetime — and that is saying something, since my life so far has encompassed 12 presidencies, some of which have brought a lot of embarrassment to the nation. Even Richard Nixon, with his Watergate scandal, Jimmy Carter, with his malaise, and Bill Clinton, with his lewd behavior in the Oval Office, could not top this president for pure, unadulterated disgrace.

Of course, in Obama’s case, it is not a matter of personal scandal like it was for Clinton. By telling the world a year ago that he was drawing a red line in the hot desert sands of Syria — that red line being the use of chemical weapons — he created the debacle that currently threatens to engulf the Middle East. He blustered at the time that if the regime of Bashar al-Assad crossed that red line, there will be a price to pay. No one yet knows what that price will be, but from the current discussion, it appears that it will involve the destruction of at least three camels, four sheep, a half-dozen goats and an abandoned aspirin factory. That oughta show ‘em!
What it will do, in all likelihood, is unify the Islamic crazies in the Middle East and turn Assad into a regional hero, emboldening him to attack Israel, secure in the knowledge that the United States has no stomach for a wider war.

Do you really believe they’re going to pay off this debt? ^ | 6 June, 2010 | Vin Suprynowicz

If I invoke the phrase “Greek debt crisis,” do your eyelids start to grow heavy?
Do you somehow find it difficult to summon up a fresh wave of outrage if someone mentions that when Barack Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (better known as the Democratic Tax-Hike Justification Front) convened for its second monthly meeting last week, Congress was already 41 days past its April 15 deadline for passing a budget resolution — scared to death to admit, in an election year and the third year of the Second Great Depression, just how much new debt and spending they intend to crank up?
No, if you want to get the U.S. government off the borrow-and-spend treadmill, there’s only one answer: default.
You only have to win one election, at which point you declare Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid all bankrupt and closed; in default. You believed the promises of those lying politicians? Your problem.
You own U.S. bonds? Tough. The politicians lied when they said they had the power to make succeeding generations pay their debts; we’re defaulting. You don’t get another cent.
Presto: Half of those “mandatory” federal expenditures are gone, overnight. NOW slice everything else by two thirds (that’s a “net” figure — the “Department of Agriculture,” the “War on Drugs” and the “Firearms and Explosives” tentacles of the BATFE would immdiately be reduced to zero, of course), and you’ve reduced both federal expenditures AND FEDERAL TAXES by 80 percent.
But here’s the best part. Four, six, eight years later the pendulum swings, as it always does, and the socialists come back to power. They go back to the folks who used to loan money to Uncle Sam, saying, “Hi, Remember us? We’re the compassionate progressive collectivist redistributionists, and we’re back.

Christian Airman Punished by Lesbian Commander Faces Possible Court Martial

breitbart ^ | september 6, 2013 | Ken Klukowski

Updating our earlier report on Senior Master Sergeant Phillip Monk, a Christian serving in the Air Force whose unit is now commanded by a lesbian: according to Monk’s complaint filed with his superiors, he was relieved of duty for refusing his commander’s order to say he supports gay marriage.
Now the Air Force has taken the first steps to criminally investigate Monk for talking to the media about his situation. Despite the fact that earlier this year the Obama-Hagel Pentagon said they would never court-martial a service member for their Christian faith, they have taken the first steps to possibly court-martial Monk.
On Aug. 27, an Air Force investigator met with Monk and his attorney, Mike Berry from Liberty Institute. Berry expected it to be a routine meeting to take a statement from his client, but during the meeting the investigator said that he would read Monk his Miranda rights.
Monk was advised that he is being investigated for committing a crime by the U.S. military for making a false official statement, that he has the right to remain silent, and that he has the right to an attorney. The Air Force then assigned military defense counsel to him and is deciding whether to formally charge him with a crime, at which point Monk would either have to admit guilt and accept further punishment or face a court martial.
Monk is being investigated and might be formally charged for violating Article 107 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), which makes it a crime to make a false official statement. But Monk’s explaining his situation to the media is not an official statement.

Ed Asner Explains Hollywood Silence on Obama, Syria: They 'Don't Want to Feel Anti-Black'

The Hollywood Reporter ^ | 09/06/2013 | Paul Bond

In 2003, ahead of a U.S. attack on Iraq, a robust anti-war movement in Hollywood included [2] a TV commercial starring Martin Sheen and Sean Penn visiting Baghdad. There were online petitions signed by Ed Asner; letters to President George W. Bush pleading for peace were signed by Matt Damon, Tim Robbins, Barbra Streisand and Alec Baldwin; former M*A*S*H star Mike Farrell fronted multiple press conferences where celebrities denounced war. In interviews, Janeane Garofalo stopped identifying herself as an actor -- she preferred to be called a member of the U.S. anti-war movement.
The good news for President Barack Obama as he considers a military response against Syria for using chemical weapons against rebels is that he probably won't have to deal with a similar anti-war movement from Hollywood. But that's not because there isn't opposition. It's just not organized, and, as Asner and Farrell – two of the industry's most vocal progressive activists -- told The Hollywood Reporter [9] Friday, perhaps it never will be.
While some conservatives see hypocrisy [10], Farrell says that an all-out war in Iraq under Bush, a Republican who was very unpopular in Hollywood, was a much bigger deal than potential missile strikes against Syria under the direction of Obama, a Democrat who drew millions for his campaigns from showbiz industry donors.
Asner, 83, and Farrell, 74, both expressed extreme disappointment in Obama for advocating military action.
"What he is talking about in Syria is a potential war crime," Farrell said. "It will be illegal, and if citizens are killed it certainly could be considered a war crime."
Even if Obama presents irrefutable evidence that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad used poison gas against civilians, military action is still unwarranted, the two activists say.
"This administration ought to insist that the international community charge [Assad] with a war crime and prosecute him, and in so doing Obama would be following the law instead of flaunting the law," Farrell said.
"It's incredibly improper for the president to call for a strike. I have said it everywhere I can and I suspect a lot of others will do the same, but whether there will be an organized effort, I don't know," Farrell continued. "We're talking about the difference between an invasion in Iraq and a limited action in response to the use of chemical weapons in Syria."
Asner said the lack of an organized effort against war in Syria is a matter of timing. Bush took months to make the case for war in Iraq, giving the antiwar left plenty of time to prepare a response.
"It will be a done deal before Hollywood is mobilized," Asner said. "This country will either bomb the hell out of Syria or not before Hollywood gets off its ass."

Obama hints he may abandon Syria strike...“I’m not itching for military action"…

The Daily Caller ^ | 6 Sep 13 | Neil Munro

President Barack Obama hinted Friday that he might not strike Syria if Congress rejects his authorization request.

“I’m not itching for military action… and if there are good ideas that are worth pursuing, then I’m going to be open to them,” he told one reporter who asked if he was seeking alternatives to a missile strike.

“Are we on a fast track to military action as soon as Congress renders its judgment one way or the other?” the reporter asked Obama, during his morning press conference in St. Petersburg, Russia.
