Obama Defends Wealth Redistribution

Obama Defends Wealth Redistribution Think back to the time when Barack Obama was running for President. There was an incident when he was confronted by Joe the Plumber and asked a question about his tax policy for small businesses. In his reply to Joe the Plumber, Barack Obama made the following statement.
when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody
Naturally, conservatives seized upon the statement, yours truly included. It was an outrageous statement, but it brought to light exactly how Obama the candidate felt about redistributing the wealth in America. For those of you who need a translation, that means he wants to take money from the wealthy and give it to someone who isn't quite so much. All for the sake of income equality, of course.
President Obama has shown himself to be just as much a proponent of wealth redistribution as he was during his first run to the White House. He has pursued the goal since taking office and his prize legislation, better known as ObamaCare is at the core of his efforts to accomplish that goal. His renewed push to sell ObamaCare to the American people is based on doing just that.
Fox News - President Obama today heads to the liberal Center for American Progress to talk about ObamaCare and the economy. And while the president will certainly hit talking points about how Americans, one day freed of concerns over health insurance, can pursue their dreams of higher education and economic betterment, the basic message is likely to be the same one he has made in his other “major” economic addresses over the years: the need for more redistribution of wealth to deal with income inequality. Remember that while the redistributive properties of ObamaCare are causing mainstream Americans to recoil from the president and his health law, redistribution is its cardinal virtue to many on the left.Obama has pursued his policy aims with dogged persistency since taking office and has made no secret of his central aim of shifting wealth. The surprise from many reporters at seeing millions of health insurance policies vaporized and in seeing premiums for those already covered leap astronomically indicates either massive inattention or a facile response to a story they can no longer ignore. Obama’s law turns insurance companies into vehicles for redistribution: heavily regulated, highly protected public utilities with a social-engineering mission. The fact that Obama is emphasizing this point now suggests he knows just how bad the days ahead will be for his law and his party. By hardening the resolve of the third of Americans standing with him on ObamaCare, Obama hopes to make good on his promise to have the law go into effect despite massive opposition and survive at least until the end of his term.
The above opinion was penned by Chris Stirewalt and as is usually the case, I find his candor echoing my own voice. Wealth redistribution goes against every conservative fiber of my being. Liberals can come up with all manner of excuses to justify their seizure of wealth to give to others, but the facts remain. Wealth redistribution flies in the face of every foundation upon which America was built.
In my simple way of looking a things, one glaring question jumps out at me. If the liberals are successful at their efforts to redistribute the wealth some Americans have accumulated, what is to stop those Americans from simply going elsewhere? Why should they continue to work hard every day to be successful, when they know the liberals in Washington want nothing more than to take what they have worked for and redistribute it to someone else?
That doesn't seem to matter to President Obama. He claims he is not a particularly ideological person, but his actions speak even louder than his words, again. He is continuing his push for wealth redistribution with a single-minded purpose. Do not make the mistake of believing his rhetoric that it is the right thing to do for America. It is no such thing and will likely be one of the silver bullets that takes us down, should he succeed.
