Obama Calls Campaign Money Shortage 'Critical'

Weekly Standard ^

Obama Calls Money Shortage 'Critical' Daniel Halper August 26, 2012 12:14 PM
In a fundraising email to perspective donors, President Obama says, "This is critical." Obama explains that he is being outspent in states likes Iowa by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Here's the entire email:

Daniel --
When I'm out there talking to voters, we talk about what we've done, what we plan to do over the next four years, and why the other guys have dangerous plans to go back to the policies that failed America for almost a decade.
But there is another question that keeps coming up, and you need to know about it: "Why do I see so many more ads for the other guys?"
You don't need me to tell you that the Romney campaign is outraising us -- that billionaire ideologues and corporate interests are piling on tens of millions more in negative ads trashing us, and that all of it means that undecided voters in battleground states like Iowa could be seeing false, misleading, negative attacks at a rate almost twice as often as they hear from us.
Last week, when I was in Iowa, voters told me they were feeling it. The numbers back it up: Our side is getting outspent 2-to-1 on the air there.
But the folks asking me about this don't want an explanation -- they want to know what I'm going to do about it.
And the fact is that solving this problem is up to you.
Close the gap on the air by making a donation of $5 or more now.
You're getting this email because you know what the stakes are in this election. You know the facts about what we've done to prevent a deeper crisis and to start building an economy that works for the middle class.
But for someone who's not as engaged, these ads may be an important and possibly even primary source of information about the choice in this election.
So it's a bad situation if 90 percent of them are false, negative attacks on us.
We're losing this air war right now.
I don't have as much time to campaign this time as I did in 2008, so this whole thing is riding on you making it happen.
Donate now to close the gap on the air:
Thank you,

Sleeping with the Enemy in the 'War On Women'

American Thinker ^ | August 26, 2012 | Clarice Feldman

It wasn't long ago that Barack Obama's supporters pointed to his successful campaign as proof of his executive ability, responding to truthful claims he had no executive experience. As this year's flailing campaign matches his amateurish handling of the presidency, and the third Recovery Summer shows the US economy in worse shape than it was before all this recovering took place, Democratic women are manning their enemy's ramparts while preposterously claiming it is the Republicans who are waging a "war on women".

Governor Romney has correctly noted that 92.3% of the jobs lost under Obama were women's jobs. But in an effort to distract from the fact that their mishandling of the economy has had dire affects on the lives of women, Democrats plan to highlight at their convention Sandra Fluke to remind us that Obamacare will provide women with "free" contraceptives. You'd have to be even more innumerate than the President is to believe that a benefit worth about $9 a month -which you will in fact be paying for through that benighted legislation-beats the opportunity to earn a living.

And best of all, the show the "War on Women" will not only feature Fluke, but as well, Caroline Kennedy and Bill Clinton. In case you are ignorant of recent history, Jack Cashill kindly has reminded us of the way the Kennedy men and Clinton treated women. Perhaps the names of women victims of Clinton and the Kennedys should be run as a chyron under the broadcasts for those with faltering recollections.
Do women need extra assistance from the government now?
I don't think so. In fact like many I think the pendulum has swung too far and needs to be righted...

'2016: Obama's America' Fourth-Highest Grossing Film Friday Night

NewsBusters ^

Box Office Mojo shows that "2016: Obama's America" was the fourth-highest grossing film on Friday, taking in $2.255 million, and trailing only "The Expendables 2," "The Bourne Legacy," and "Paranorman." What's more, its per-theatre gross of $2,067 is almost twice that of "Expendables," and well over double every other film in Friday's top ten.

Obama administration ‘cooking the books’ on deportation numbers!

Hot Air ^ | August 25, 2012 | Howard Portnoy

The news should come as no surprise considering it centers on an administration that double-counts $716 billion in order to claim that the Obamacare extends the solvency of Medicare while looting the entitlement’s trust fund. The Daily Caller reports:

Internal documents obtained by the House Judiciary Committee show that the Obama administration has been ‘cooking the books’ in order to reach their ‘record’ number of deported illegal immigrants, chairman Rep. Lamar Smith said Friday.

Based on the internal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) documents, the number of removals are actually down, the opposite of what the administration has been claiming.
This latest “fun with math” on the administration’s part artificially inflates the number of deportations by counting individuals “removed” from U.S. soil through the Alien Transfer Exit Program (ATEP). ATEP is a program that moves apprehended illegal immigrants to another point along the border, sometimes as much as a thousand miles from where they crossed. The object is to discourage deportees from instantly re-trying a border crossing. The measure is also designed to create a hardship for them that will serve as a deterrent to them and others contemplating sneaking across the border.
Of the administration latest ploy, Smith said in a statement:
It is dishonest to count illegal immigrants apprehended by the Border Patrol along the border as ICE removals. And these ‘removals’ from the Border Patrol program do not subject the illegal immigrant to any penalties or bars for returning to the U.S. This means a single illegal immigrant can show up at the border and be removed numerous times in a single year—and counted each time as a removal.
The DC goes on to note that given this new information, the committee’s Republican majority subtracted the ATEP removals from ICE’s deportation totals. The result is that the estimated 397,000 deportations for 2011 becomes approximately 360,000, and the 2012 removals to date drop from about 334,000 to an estimated 263,000.

Berkeley public high school considers cancelling its Advanced Placement classes because too many white students are succeeding!

Human Events reports:

The Berkeley (CA) Board of Education will consider whether or not to cancel before and after school Science Labs for Advanced Placement Science classes at Berkeley High School because the classes are attended largely by white students. The proposal is aimed at addressing “Berkeley’s dismal racial achievement gap.”

Berkeley’s AP Science courses are an outstanding success. In a time when we are constantly reminded of the need for American students to get better at Physics, Biology, and Chemistry, 82% of Berkeley’s AP chemistry students passed the national exam. The national passing rate is 55.2%.
The AP classes are open to all students, but because “minority” students don’t “show up” to these lab classes in the same percentage as the percentage of “minority” students attending Berkeley High overall, the classes must be cancelled to close the “dismal racial achievement gap.”
If classes are open to all students, why should those students who choose the harder classes be punished in the name of those students who did not choose to work as hard?
Berkeley High School has a first rate reputation for providing equal opportunity to all students. Unequal outcomes in student achievement are the result of the effort each student puts into taking advantage of those opportunities. Narrowing the “achievement gap” by eliminating the achievers doesn’t help either the achievers or the rest of the students.
This is absurd. The students already have equality of opportunity. Just because some students don’t take advantage of that opportunity doesn’t mean that the opportunity should be denied to those students who do want to take advantage of it.
This is the kind of nonsense that happens when an organization tries to make everyone “equal.” Trying to make everyone “equal” always end up dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator. When everyone is “equal,” no one is allowed to be smarter than the dumbest person.
The truth is that each person is a unique individual. When presented with a chance to take Advanced Placement classes, some students will take advantage of that opportunity, and others will not. The fact that some students choose to not take the AP classes is not a legitimate justification for cancelling them.
Let’s take a look at that third paragraph again:
The AP classes are open to all students, but because “minority” students don’t “show up” to these lab classes in the same percentage as the percentage of “minority” students attending Berkeley High overall, the classes must be cancelled to close the “dismal racial achievement gap.”
My gosh – that’s just about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Let’s look at it a third time:
The AP classes are open to all students, but because “minority” students don’t “show up” to these lab classes in the same percentage as the percentage of “minority” students attending Berkeley High overall, the classes must be cancelled to close the “dismal racial achievement gap.”
The fact that there are people in the world who think that this is a good idea is sad.
The fact that people who subscribe to this ideology are in control of the public school system is terrifying.

"Colorado: 5 Muslims arrested for brutal rape with blunt instrument "horrific sexual assault"

Atlas Shrugs ^ | August 25, 2012 | Pam Geller

The elderly victim "suffered from internal injuries that appeared to be caused by blunt force trauma." This is not Pakistan. This is Colorado Springs. When police arrived on the scene at the apartment, they found blood splattered on the walls.
Children and elderly women are "uncovered meat."
The El Paso District Attorney’s Office said charges are pending against Jasim Mohammed Hassin Ramadon, 22, who was charged with sexual assault and being an accessory after he was arrested Tuesday in connection with the July 22 attack. Others arrested in the case, including Sarmad Fadhi Mohammed, accused of sexual assault and being an accessory, and Mustafa Sataar Al Feraji, Ali Mohammed Hasan Al Juboori, and Yasir Jabbar Jasim, accused of being accessories. They were each being held on $250,000 bond.
Jasim Ramadon was featured in “A Soldier’s Promise,” a combat memoir by Army First Sgt. Daniel Hendrex, published in 2009. Soldiers said they met Ramadon in 2003, when he pleaded with them to arrest him in exchange for key information about local insurgents. I am sure the media will make this monster into a "war hero."
"5 Iraqi men arrested for ‘horrific’ Colorado Springs rape" FOX, Denver
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Colorado Springs arrested five Iraqi men Tuesday in connection with what police are calling a “rare” and “horrific” sexual assault.
Colorado Springs Lt. Howard Black told FOX21 Colorado Springs that the woman police believe the men sexually assaulted at the Wildridge Apartments suffered from injuries that could have been life-threatening.
“I have been a police officer for a lot of years,” Black said. “When I look at the injuries, this is one of the more severe sexual assault cases I have been a part of and investigated.”
All five men are are from Iraq and living in the U.S.

Obama's relentless negativity

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS ^ | August 23, 2012

President, unable to run on his own record, keeps attacking Romney. Obama has waged a negative campaign against Mitt Romney.
the negative tone of the campaign has taken a greater toll on Obama, the man responsible (if indirectly) for most of the vitriol. According to an NBC/WSJ poll conducted in late July, “very negative” views of both are now at a record high, with 32% holding a “very negative” view of Obama, and 24% of Romney.

Those numbers represent unusually high dissatisfaction this early into the race. They’re also tough to turn around this late in the game.
First, voters aren’t stupid. They understand when a line has been crossed and attacks get so vicious and detached from reality that the negative attack triggers the opposite of the intended result. The electorate tends to side with an underdog when lines are crossed by his opponent. So when CBS News ran a damaging piece on George W. Bush’s military service in 2004 that turned out to be largely untrue, many voters sympathized with Bush.
Secondly, when the primary issue for voters is the economy, harping about tax returns and charging that your opponent hates women and children makes Obama look out of touch. Never underestimate how savvy the electorate is when it comes to the economy. If people are hurting like they are now, they want answers about the doom-and-gloom employment situation, not personal jabs.

1.3 Million Got Disability for ‘Mood Disorders’—Including 33% of Beneficiaries in Puerto Rico

Cybercast News Service ^ | August 24, 2012 | Terence P. Jeffrey

The Social Security Administration released its annual statistical report on federal disability insurance last month, revealing that at the end of 2011 there was a then-record of 8,575,544 workers collecting federal disability benefits and among them were 1,304,851 doing so because they suffered from “mood disorders.”
The incidence of “mood disorders” among disability beneficiaries was not proportionately distributed among the states and territories, according to the official SSA statistics. Some locations had much higher percentages of disability beneficiaries diagnosed with mood disorders than other locations. …
In each month since December 2011, SSA has reported, the overall number of Americans collecting disability has continued to rise. In August, according to SSA, a record 8,767,941 American workers collected disability. Also, in addition to the 8,767,941 workers collecting disability payments, there were 1,853,651 eligible children of disabled workers collecting additional benefits and 164,651 eligible spouses of disabled workers collecting benefits—bringing the total number of disability beneficiaries in August to 10,786,510. …

R. Lee Ermy says GEICO fired him for dissing Obama!

R. Lee Ermy says GEICO fired him for dissing Obama!

GEICO = Government Employees Insurance Company. Owned by Berkshire Hathaway - aka Warren Buffett.

I and other motorists have hated GEICO for a long time, even before Obama. It’s not even a political thing, believe it or not. It’s because GEICO thinks it is funny to hand out free radar guns to the police and ‘request’ that the police run more speed enforcement exercises instead of pursuing actual serious criminals.

A Crisis

Keeping 'em straight

Nice Doggie

Doing a good job?

Bank of Panther Stadium: Democrats and Transparency ^ | August 26, 2012 | Derek Hunter

Our self-described most transparent administration in history is at it again.

The folks who claim executive privilege over documents in the Fast and Furious case yet maintain the president wasn’t involved have decided transparency is overrated. The people who meet with lobbyists in coffee shops near the White House to keep unseemly names off the official visitor logs, have decided we don’t need to know who pays for their convention.

The Washington Post reports, “In its marketing materials, the party promises that the “people’s convention,”…will be the “most open and accessible ever.” But the names of donors, some of whom are giving up to $100,000, will remain secret until federal disclosure documents are filed Oct. 15, six weeks after the festivities have ended, when public attention will have shifted to Election Day.”

The party that wants to require outside groups to disclose their donors through the DISCLOSE Act won’t disclose who is cutting checks for its convention until long after people have forgotten it. It makes you wonder who is cutting those checks and why they don’t want the base to know.

My guess is simple: They’re getting the money from the same “big corporations” and millionaires and billionaires they’ve been demonizing the past four years. Democrats hate the rich…except the ones who give them money. Weird how that works out, isn’t it?

But the hypocrisy doesn’t end there. In what has to be the funniest non-Joe Biden-related gaffe so far this campaign, President Obama’s big acceptance speech is set to be delivered at Bank of America Stadium. Since he, his fellow Democrats and their Occupy Wall Street allies have spent his first term attacking “big banks” as the root of all evil in this country, they’ve taken to calling it “Panther Stadium” in all correspondences, planning messages and press releases because the Carolina Panthers play there.

Residents of Charlotte must wonder what “Panther Stadium” is and why the major bank headquartered in that city – the one that paid for naming rights of the stadium – is banka non grata. But Democrats don’t want to talk about it.

They also don’t want to talk about the fact their bank, where they deposit their hundreds of millions of dollars, is Bank of America. They’re pledging to move their accounts to the union-owned Amalgamated Bank, but not until after the election. It’s the Wimpy distraction defense – “I’ll gladly bank with you Tuesday for your campaign contributions, volunteers and votes today.”

Good luck with that.

Given its track record of saying one thing and doing another, don’t be surprised if the DNC simply asks Bank of America to print special checks with Bank of Panther Stadium on them and call it a day.

And in Related News…

A couple of quick notes:

Liberals and the media (but I repeat myself) are all in a tizzy this weekend because Mitt Romney made a birth certificate joke. The Obama campaign was outraged – it seems only President Obama is allowed to make jokes about his birth certificate…or fundraise off of it.

But if someone with an R after his name makes a crack about it, it’s just this side of joining the Klan. Apparently, Democrats can call Romney a tax cheat and a murderer, but a joke about something everyone knows is crazy is a bridge too far.

The hypocrisy is mindboggling. Before Friday, liberals portrayed Romney as an unfunny robot. Then, he makes a joke they don’t like and he immediately becomes Robert Byrd (D-WV) … only a Republican version without the KKK background.

They want it both ways. But too many people see what they are. As I’ve said before, the media calls itself “The Fourth Estate” – watchdogs who keep an eye on the powerful. The way this was reported makes it obvious “The Fourth Estate” has become a Fifth Column.

If the media were any more in bed with Democrats, their wives would be jealous. Only, with these guys, we’re all on the receiving end.

Along those lines, two new movies are gaining traction and circumventing the mainstream media to reach the people. The media hates that, which makes it doubly awesome.

The first is “2016 Obama’s America.” Dinesh D’Souza, formerly of National Review, takes a look where the media won’t – into the president’s formative years. I saw it a few weeks ago, and it is awesome. You will learn more about the man the media has set out to protect than you ever knew before.

David Limbaugh’s book, The Great Destroyer, chronicles the president’s actions in office, but D’Souza’s movie and companion book are a look at the man and where his beliefs come from. There are a lot of books out now about the president, but these are the only two you need to arm yourself with the knowledge the media is trying to hide from you. Find a theater near you and go see it. Bring anyone you know who is still on the fence about this election.

The second movie is “The Hope & The Change” from Citizens United and director Stephen K. Bannon. It’s a look at several dozen former Obama voters, mostly registered Democrats, who are suffering the hangover of 2008. They bought the hype. They believed the hope. And now reality has set in.

Watch the journey these people take from the first days of Obama’s rise on the national stage to the harsh reality of the failure of his policies. It’s a compelling look at people who really thought Barack Obama would make things better and now realize just how empty that promise was. It’s not out yet, but you will be able to see it soon. Check the website often (an announcement about how you can see it should be coming this week) and watch the trailer. It’s well worth your time.

That is all, go about your week.
