All Hail the Narcissist-In- Chief!

Coach Is Right ^ | 5/12/2012 | Jim Emerson

In August of 1934 members the Wehrmacht were required to recite a Reichswehreid, an oath of personal allegiance to Adolf Hitler. This oath ignored God and country but swore an oath to a man, Adolf Hitler. The soldiers were to fight and die on the behalf of the dear leader. Such loyalty oaths originated in ancient Rome and have been repeated throughout history and to different tyrants.

It is a rumor that Obama wishes the members of the American military would swear and an oath to him over God and the Constitution. But in his narcissist mindset he truly believes the military serves at his whim. In an ABC interview concerning his flip-flop on Gay marriage he said “when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ is gone,”

Oh Really?

Members of the US Armed Forces swear an oath to the Constitution and not to a man. They are required to follow the orders of the President and Officers according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, but they act to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Even orders from the President must be lawful because the men and women of the armed forces don’t serve on his behalf. The idea of service members fighting on his behalf is a Freudian slip from a narcissist that has an out of control sense of omnipotence that even Dr. Phil couldn’t miss. He is using the world’s best military to pander to the homosexuals.

Accepting responsibility? Never happened!

Obama cannot accept responsibility for anything negative. He lacks the character to accept consequences but will gladly shine in the light of success even when he had nothing to do with it. It was reported that Leon Panetta wrote a memo absolving Obama of all responsibly if the Obama raid went wrong. After-all the President was playing Golf when the mission started. When the mission was successful the Narcissist- In- Chief was more than ready to take all of the glory for sending SEAL Team Six to kill bin Laden on “his behalf” to garner votes for his reelection.

Liberal media coverup of racist black violence against white people!

YouTube ^ | March, 2012 | Original work by me

Anyone still trusting the atheist liars at ABC, NBC, NPR and CBS is living in a fog. At any rate, we are facing very real danger.

1. The liars have created a race war where only one side is fighting while the other remains oblivious to what is taking place. See a video I created here:
2. Christian parents are sending their children into Marxism training centers, all while playing the "Focus on the Family" game of pretending to themselves that they are good parents.
3. Christians are now tripping over themselves and each other to brag about how tolerant they are of homosexual indoctrination.

What a mess!

Is anyone even awake? Or has the population decided that watching movies, playing on Facebook, doing the 2/week church thing, being happy all the time and keeping the air conditioning on in a home that must be secured by paying off the government every year is a fair trade for freedom?
The liberals ALREADY destroyed America. The only thing left is for people to find out.
Get this, thanks to Democrats (by plan) and Republicans (due to being weak after years of being attacked in the media), we are allowing 4000 immigrants to LEGALLY become citizens in America EVERY DAY! That's not even counting the illegals from Mexico.
Sure hope that internet / video game / movies / dinners out and weekends away thing is working for you. Thanks for letting the liars kill America.

Evolving to Sodom and Gommorah ^ | 5/12/12 | bray

Mercy, peace and LOVE be yours in abundance. The Sin and Doom of Godless Men… Jude 1:2
So Lame Duck Limping has evolved to see that homosexuals should be allowed to marry for equality.

Talk about the oldest tactic in the liberal playbook, saying you have evolved. These self important elitists use this term all the time to let everybody know how superior they are to those dinosaurs who they disagree. This tactic is only second to the racist card however it is the same card played in a slightly different way. Let’s not discuss the issue just simply say you have evolved to claim yourself right and everyone else wrong.

Liberals are always evolving since they don’t believe in God, they have to be godlike. They also believe their ideas are right and everyone else is wrong so they use terms like evolved, consensus, racist, homophobe, sexist and every other term to dehumanize their opposition. You add a good dose of sanctimony and a willing press to declare your declarations divine and commie libs never have to debate these issues. This is the same tactic that has worked for all academic agenda driven sciences like acid rain, the ozone hole, the DDT scare, the obesity myth, their war on oil and now a war on marriage and family without any debate.

If it is such a wonderful evolution, why do homosexual males have a 20 year shorter lifespan than normal? It appears the fact that homosexuals have a 10,000 times greater chance of getting AIDS, syphilis, hepatitis C, mono and every other VD there is a pretty good case they are a prime example of Darwinism at work which would make his statement devolved and society has evolved from that dangerous lifestyle. When you have states voting 60/40 against the homosexual commie agenda even with a 24/7/365 SoddomWood promotion then you should at least consider the voters beliefs. That is not the case for liberals, they have evolved far above the commoners eliminating any consideration of their backwards opinions and especially if they are Christian homophobes. It is liberals who are completely closed minded.
His other evolution will be a deeper war with the church. Once he installs the marriage act then pastors and priests will then have to marry them or face a Federal discrimination arrest and conviction. They could easily call it a hate crime which would likely land the Priest in jail for an extended period of time. There they could be properly educated on the necessary levels of tolerance required in a more evolved and tolerant regime. This is the true objective of the homosexual agenda, the destruction of the natural family as well as the elimination of the church. These are atheistic commie libs who worship their sexuality while enjoying the perks of being a protected minority group as they are saints in the liberal orthodoxy. If pastors have to choose between marrying people they know are sinners and have little chance of a successful marriage or stepping down, they win. Every communist society must eliminate the church since it stands in the way of their god worship of gummit.
Americans are good and tolerant people who understand this issue inside and out. They are the ones who want to live their lives together with homosexuals rather than having their lives impacted by them. They vote in huge numbers for a marriage amendment, not because they hate homosexuals but because they understand that a mother and father is the natural way to raise children. Is every marriage perfect? Of course not, but that doesn’t ignore the facts which say the healthiest and safest both physically and financially way to live, is inside a stable family. It is not a vote against homosexuals as much as it is a vote for the family.
How about the President evolve on the Keystone pipeline like 75% of Americans and all of Canadians have? Rather than evolving into the 21st century he is stuck in the 18th century with trains and windmills that waste Billion$ and are absolutely inefficient. America is beginning to evolve away from this backward thinking that you can power the country on Pixie Dust and beginning to understand that oil and coal are the most efficient and abundant fuel resources ever found and need to be developed to provide a platform for the economy to grow. Perhaps he can evolving his mind into realizing rather than the 2% he claims we have in oil and realize we have more than his friends in the Middle East.
It is he and his Party who are stubbornly standing in the way and chasing a backwards thinking energy policy who are not able to evolve with the changes of capitalism and freedom. It is they who are installing draconian measures from the 1930s and 40s of Stalinism and Maoism which have been passed over as giant failures. He is the one who refuses to think forward and uses propaganda tactics from Hitler’s Germany along with PravdABDNC that won’t allow the next evolution of Free Market economics. He and his Party are stuck in the Dark Ages for fear they and their power will be left behind like those other relics of communism. They understand in their gut what the next evolution of America is and they do not fit with their cradle to grave control since that evolution is just the opposite.
With an abundant, cheap and reliable supply of energy and an evolving computer age, gummit becomes less important. With the free flow of information and instant communication people can police and maintain themselves and gummit can be reduced and localized where the problems are. With a strong highway system people and goods can travel freely and reach their destinations quickly maximizing the minutes spent making and providing those services. This makes for a stronger economy and full employment to provide tax dollars to a smaller more dynamic less costly gummit.
The only thing standing in the way of this next evolution of America is Barak Hussain Obama who is fixated on dividing everybody to keep their eyes off the real problem, him. He would rather evolve about his trumped up issues to make Americans hate America. Are we perfect? No, but neither is he and certainly neither were his model gummits he wants to install. So let him evolve into some superior being in his own mind who couldn’t even run a Kool Aid stand if his life depended on it, and go off like Jimmy Carter on his personal evolutions and leave us alone. We don’t need him telling us how to live our lives, who or what we should be marrying or starting race riots, we need him to lead, follow or get out of our way. If he wants to evolve, how about evolving into a 21st century capitalist rather than an early 20th century Marxist and catch up with those people he claims he is superior? If you want to evolve Mr President, why don’t evolve into an American?
Pray for America

Scientists Discover New Inflammatory Target!

ScienceDaily ^ | May 9, 2012 | NA

Scientists from Queen Mary, University of London have found a new therapeutic target to combat inflammation.

The research, published in the journal Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences, revealed tiny organelles called primary cilia are important for regulating inflammation. The findings could lead to potential therapies for millions of people who suffer from arthritis.

Dr Martin Knight who led the research at Queen Mary's School of Engineering and Materials Science said: "Although primary cilia were discovered more than a century ago, we're only beginning to realise the importance they play in different diseases and conditions, and the potential therapeutic benefits that could be developed from manipulating cilia structure and function."
The researchers investigated the role of primary cilia in inflammation. They took cartilage cells and exposed them to a group of inflammatory proteins called cytokines, specifically interleukin-1 (IL-1), to see whether there were any changes to the primary cilia.
"When we exposed the cells to IL-1, in just three hours the primary cilia showed a 50 per cent increase in length," he said.
"But what was most interesting was when we treated cells to prevent this elongation of the cilium. The cartilage cells had a greatly reduced response to the inflammatory proteins and were therefore not as inflamed. This suggests a brand new therapeutic target for inflammation."...

Around world, Obama's presidency a disappointment!

AP ^ | 5-12-12 | DON MELVIN and ROD McGUIRK

In Europe, where more than 200,000 people thronged a Berlin rally in 2008 to hear Barack Obama speak, there's disappointment that he hasn't kept his promise to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, and perceptions that he's shunting blame for the financial crisis across the Atlantic.

In Mogadishu, a former teacher wishes he had sent more economic assistance and fewer armed drones to fix Somalia's problems.

And many in the Middle East wonder what became of Obama's vow, in a landmark 2009 speech at the University of Cairo, to forge a closer relationship with the Muslim world. In a world weary of war and economic crises, and concerned about global climate change, the consensus is that Obama has not lived up to the lofty expectations that surrounded his 2008 election and Nobel Peace Prize a year later.

Many in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America were also taken aback by his support for gay marriage, a taboo subject among religious conservatives. But the Democrat still enjoys broad international support. In large part, it's because of unfavorable memories of his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, and many people would still prefer Obama over his presumptive Republican challenger Mitt Romney. "We all had high hopes for him," said Filomena Cunha, an office worker in Lisbon, Portugal, who said she's struggling to make ends meet. "But then things got bad and there's not much he can do for us over here." Obama's rock-star-like reception at Berlin's Victory Column in the summer of 2008 was a high point of a wildly successful European campaign tour. The thawing of a harsh anti-Americanism that had thrived in Europe was as much a reaction to the Bush years as it was an embrace of the presidential hopeful.

The Daily Beast Paul Begala on Obama: Once a Drug Head Girl Pusher, Always a Drug Head Girl Pusher?

Texas Conservative Republican News ^ | 5/12/12 | David Bellow

I recently came across an article on The Daily Beast “Paul Begala on Romney: Once a Bully, Always a Bully”

In the article, Paul starts out by saying that “It is a good general principle that we ought not hold teenage wrongdoing against middle-aged people.”

Paul then goes straight into saying it is ok to hold this 40 year old teenage incident against Romney Why? Because as an adult, Mitt Romney was a “bully” when he “cut” education as a governor and because his company laid people off.

Ok Paul, according to your logic, it would be perfectly fine for you to write an article with this as the headline:

“Paul Begala on Obama: Once a Drug Head Girl Pusher, Always a Drug Head Girl Pusher”

This article would start out talking about how you would not normally hold Obama’s ADMITTED teenage drug use against him now that he is a grown man.

You would then of course write an article that says it is ok to hold Obama’s past drug use against him.
Why? Because Obama hasn’t changed. Our border with Mexico is being overtaken by drug cartels. Drug Trafficking and Drug Cartel Violence along the border is shocking, like this massive cartel battle on the Texas/Mexico border or this shootout between Texas law enforcement and several drug cartel members. Yet, Obama has pulled our troops from the border. He even came to Texas and joked about how the border is safe and Republicans will not be happy until there is a moat with alligators. This is very similar to when he joked about doing drugs by saying that he “inhaled frequently … that was the point.” Obama seems to have a pattern of joking about doing drugs and drug related border violence.
You would then go on to say that you would not normally hold it against a grown Obama for admittedly shoving a girl in school, but then you would write about how it is ok to hold this against him. Why? Because Obama still shoves women around. He has recently shoved women in Texas around by defunding a women’s health program simply because Texas decided not to give any of that tax money to abortion mills. So Obama cuts off the entire women’s health service program funding and kicks all the women using that program out on the street all because Obama would rather fund planned Parenthood more than he wants to provide health services to women. And of course, there is Obamacare, which is Obama unconstitutionally pushing all Americans around by making us all purchase health insurance from private companies or face a penalty.
I can’t wait for that article to come out Paul.
Seriously though, how about we talk about the issues affecting us today instead of bringing up 40 year old stories told by Obama campaign workers who used to go to school with Romney. One of the witnesses to this incident now says he did not see or know about the incident and even the brother of this kid who was allegedly bullied says the story is factually incorrect and politically motivated. The guy is not even alive anymore to verify if this happened to him. Really? I guess I am not surprised that this vague 40 year old alleged high school incident is being brought up by the liberal media even though the media ignores Obama’s ADMITTED past drug use. It is all a ploy to distract people from Obama’s unpopularity on many issues. Especially this week when Obama has alienated most of America (especially blacks and Hispanics who oppose gay marriage in constitutional amendment votes) by “coming out” in support of gay marriage (I guess he lied last election when he said he is against gay homosexual marriage).

Here are 79 examples of Barack Obama’s corruption, lying, lawbreaking, and cronyism. ^ | May 12, 2012 | Dan from Squirrel Hill

1) In April 2009, antiwar activists who helped elect Obama accused him of using the same “off the books” funding as his predecessor George W. Bush when Obama requested an additional $83.4 billion from Congress for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – a provision which Obama had voted against when he was a Senator.

2) In May 2010, it was reported that the Obama administration had selected KBR, a former subsidiary of Halliburton, for a no-bid contract worth as much as $568 million through 2011 for military support services in Iraq, just hours after the Justice Department had said it would pursue a lawsuit accusing the Houston-based company of taking kickbacks from two subcontractors on Iraq-related work.

3) While running for President, Obama had promised that he would not have any lobbyists working in his administration. However, by February 2010, he had more than 40 lobbyists working in his administration.
4) Although Obama claims to support the Occupy Wall St. movement, the truth is that he has raised more money from Wall St. than any other candidate during the last 20 years.

Something Wicked This Way Comes: Disability and Average Weeks Unemployed Skyrocketed Since Mid 2010

Confounded Interest ^ | 05/12/2012 | Anthony B. Sanders

There is something wicked in the employment numbers. The number of disabled workers has increased by 2,209,000 since July 2010 while the average weeks unemployed grew from 32.6 weeks to 42.0 weeks.
The almost meaningless civilian unemployment rate, however, gives a distorted view of what is really happening. As we know, the civilian unemployment rate has fallen to 8.1% from a high of 10.0% in 2010.
Rather than focus on the percentage of the labor force that is unemployed, let’s look at the actual number of unemployed: 12,500,000. Like the unemployment rate, it shows a similar downward trend which trumpets “recovery!”.

But “Something Wicked This Way Comes!” in the employment numbers. Since July 2010, a curious thing has happened. The number of people claiming disability has risen by 2,209,000. Even more worrisome, the average weeks unemployed rose from 32.6 weeks to 42.0 weeks. Neither a good trend for the jobs market.

THIS is an employment recovery?

I have prepared a scorecard for our progress on the employment front since July 2010. The number of people going on disability is 100,000 greater than the decline in unemployment.
Based on these numbers, I would say that the unemployment rate actually rose rather than falling since July 2010. And the number of weeks employed rose by 9.4 weeks.
Economic recovery or Something Wicked?

North Carolina a political headache for Democrats!

Associated Press ^ | 5/12/12 | Mitch Weiss

Once a bright spot for President Barack Obama, North Carolina is now more like a political migraine less than four months before Democrats open the party's national convention in Charlotte.
The causes are plenty.

Labor unions, a core Democratic constituency, are up in arms. Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue isn't running for re-election; Democrats say she was likely to lose. The state Democratic Party is in disarray over an explosive sexual harassment scandal. Voters recently approved amending the state constitution to ban gay marriage, a position that runs counter to Obama's. And unemployment in the state remains persistently high.

"Nobody can sugarcoat the fact that we got problems here," said Gary Pearce, a former Democratic consultant who was an adviser to former Democratic Gov. Jim Hunt. Pearce was referring specifically to state party woes but could have been talking about any of the troubles here for Democrats.

Mother of 3 arrested, abused for taking pictures of tourist attraction at airport

American Vision News ^ | 5/12/2012 | Joel McDurmon

This case is a frightening example of what can happen when a photographer encounters ignorant bullies with badges. According to the complaint filed in Federal Court, Nancy Genovese, a mother of three, was driving home on County Road 31 past Gabreski Airport in Suffolk County. Gabreski Airport displays a decorative helicopter shell by the roadway to the public, which is visible to all who pass by.

Nancy Genovese stopped her car on the side of the road across the street from the airport in an area that is open and accessible to the public, and crossed over the road to the airport entryway that is also open and accessible to the public to take a picture of the helicopter display. While still in her car, she took a picture of the decorative helicopter shell with the intention of posting it on her personal “Support Our Troops” web page.

As Nancy Genovese was preparing to drive away, she was stopped and approached by Robert Iberger, a lieutenant with the Southampton Town Police. Lieutenant Iberger demanded to know why she was taking photographs. Nancy showed the lieutenant her camera, but Lieutenant Iberger grabbed her camera and handled it “without care”. In an attempt to prevent the lieutenant from damaging the camera, Nancy removed her memory card, which Lieutenant Iberger confiscated. To date, Nancy’s memory card still has not been returned to her.
Lieutenant Iberger demanded that Nancy remain where she is, and he refused to allow her to leave. At this time, Lieutenant Iberger notified the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and the authorities at Gabreski Airport of Nancy’s presence outside the airport, and falsely and wrongfully informed them that she posed a terrorist threat.
Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff Robert Carlock responded to the scene, along with various members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. When Deputy Carlock arrived, he placed cameras on the roof of his vehicle, aimed at Nancy Genovese and her 18 and 20 year old sons who had come to the scene at this point to help their mother. Deputy Carlock ordered all three of them to stand directly in front of the cameras, and not to move.
Officials from the airport, as well as other local and federal law enforcement agencies also responded, including, without limitation, the Southampton Police Department, the Westhampton Police Department, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security. Nancy was questioned on the side of the road for approximately five to six hours, from about 6pm until midnight, denied food or water, and denied the opportunity to use a restroom, all without having received any warnings as to her rights.
Nancy Genovese also had a left lower leg injury just above her ankle that she had received earlier in the day and which, exacerbated by the stress and length of her roadside detention, was causing her to limp. When the officers saw this, they ordered her to expose her wound, which was bleeding, for no legitimate purpose, and with no regard for Nancy’s health or well-being. Members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office used Nancy’s leg wound as another object to taunt her with, telling her that they were going to arrest her for an unreported knife wound.
Here’s where the story takes an interesting twist, and why I believe Nancy’s situation hasn’t received more press coverage. Before arriving at the airport to take a picture, earlier that day Nancy had been to the local shooting range with her rifle practicing her hobby, target shooting. During the first hour of questioning, Lieutenant Iberger searched Nancy’s vehicle, without her consent, and came across her unloaded rifle, which Nancy was legally carrying, in a locked case. Now some people throw up their arms (no pun intended) at this point, and say, “what does she want, she brought a rifle to the airport!”, but I would like to remind everyone that it is perfectly legal to drive around with an unloaded rifle in your car. Yes. Really. And Nancy did not enter the airport, she was parked alongside a public roadway. It is important to remember that no matter how you feel about firearms, nothing that Nancy did violated any laws.
Using force, Lieutenant Iberger pushed Nancy Genovese when she objected to the seizure of her rifle. Deputy Carlock taunted Nancy, asking in a disparaging tone, “You’re a real right winger, aren’t you?”, and stating in words or substance that she was never going to see her rifle again.
During the remainder of the six hours that Nancy Genovese was forcibly detained on the side of the road, she was taunted, verbally harangued, threatened, belittled, abused, humiliated and harassed by members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. For example, Deputy Carlock repeatedly referred to Nancy as “a right winger” and “tea bagger”, and threatened that they were going to arrest her for terrorism to make an example of her to other “tea baggers” and “right wingers”.
Around midnight, officials from the airport and federal law enforcement agencies determined that Nancy posed no terrorist or other security threat. Once most of the other law enforcement officials left the scene, Deputy Carlock ordered Nancy Genovese to be handcuffed by another member of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. Before placed in handcuffs, Nancy attempted to give her purse containing her wallet and cell phone to her sons. Her wallet contained approximately $13,000 in cash, money she was holding to pay tuition that day for her son’s college and her daughter’s Catholic school tuition. Deputy Carlock refused to allow her sons to take her bag, and ordered her to leave it on the front seat of her unlocked vehicle, even after being informed of the value of its contents. When Nancy’s sons objected, Deputy Carlock threatened to arrest them if they touched it, and ordered them to leave the scene. Not knowing what to do, they left.
When Nancy’s sons responded to a call from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office in the early morning hours to pick up their mother’s vehicle from the roadside, they found $5,300 of the $13,000 missing. The money was never returned. In addition, the contents of the glove compartment box was missing, and there was damage to the body of the car, particularly around the trunk.
Around midnight, after her sons were ordered to leave upon threat of arrest, Nancy was transported, in handcuffs, to the Suffolk County Jail. While in a holding cell, Deputy Carlock continued to verbally harass Nancy, telling her “you will pay”, and admitting that they had nothing to charge her with, but that he would “find something in order to teach all right wingers and tea baggers a lesson.”
While in her holding cell, Nancy Genovese was interrogated by Suffolk County Undersheriff Caracappa without receiving any warnings as to her rights. Her requests to speak to a lawyer were ignored. Following her “interrogation”, Undersheriff Caracappa informed her that she was being arrested and charged with “terrorism.”
At this point, Nancy requested medical treatment for her bleeding and painful left leg. After several requests, and several hours later, she was taken to the Peconic Bay Medical Center by male members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, and handcuffed to a bed. A sonogram was performed on Nancy’s left leg from her ankle to her inner groin, requiring her to disrobe. Despite her and the doctor’s request for them to turn away, the two male Suffolk Deputies insisted on staring at Nancy while she disrobed, further humiliating her. She was prescribed antibiotics, and discharged back to the Suffolk County Jail, with instructions on proper care for her leg wound.
Once back at the jail, the Suffolk County Sheriffs denied her access to her antibiotics, and denied her proper care of her leg wound. This caused a serious and painful staph infection to develop.
The following morning, Nancy Genovese was briefly questioned at the Suffolk County Jail by two FBI agents. No federal complaints or charges were ever brought against Nancy. That same day, Nancy was transported in handcuffs and ankle shackles, with no regard for her ankle wound, to the Southampton Justice Town Court. The driver drove fast and recklessly, intentionally making abrupt turns and laughing. This caused Nancy, who was not secured by a seatbelt, but was instead restrained with her hands cuffed behind her and her ankles cuffed together, to roll about in the back of the vehicle, further exacerbating her leg injury. When she requested that the Deputy Sheriffs secure her with a seatbelt, they laughed at her, and the driver continued to recklessly swerve the vehicle.
Nancy Genovese was brought into the courthouse in handcuffs and leg restraints, and was violently pushed through the door by the Deputy Sheriffs. This added to Nancy’s humiliation, particularly since Nancy knew some of the courthouse employees and other people who were present. Both before and after arriving at the courthouse, Nancy repeatedly requested to speak with an attorney. All of her requests were ignored.
Despite never stepping foot onto airport property, Nancy Genovese was arraigned on a single misdemeanor charge of Criminal Trespass in the Third Degree. She was assigned a Legal Aid Attorney by the Judge. Undersheriff Caracappa and Deputy Carlock intentionally lied to the Judge about the circumstances surrounding Nancy’s arrest, including that she was a terrorist and had surveillance equipment in her car, and the judge set bail in the amount of $50,000.
Due to the excessive amount of bail, Nancy’s children needed more time to come up with the money, so Nancy was returned to the jail. The Legal Aid Attorney assigned to Nancy spoke with the Deputy and Undersheriff, and due to the conversation, directly afterwards informed Nancy that he was no longer her attorney, and that he was going to ask the court to place her on suicide watch.
Once back at the jail, Nancy Genovese was processed, including being issued prison “greens” to wear, and was photographed, fingerprinted, and eye scanned. Members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department continuously verbally harassed Nancy. A woman in civilian clothes then interviewed Nancy. The woman told Nancy she was going to be placed in “general population.” During the interview, two men wearing “Suffolk County Emergency Response Team” jackets entered the room. One of them removed Nancy from the room and held her in the hallway outside of the interview room. From there, Nancy heard the woman who had interviewed her arguing with the other man, saying that “She is not suicidal.”
Despite the woman’s protests, Nancy was physically moved by the two men wearing “Suffolk County Emergency Response Team” jackets to another room. There, another woman who identified herself as a nurse administered, without Nancy’s consent, two injections into Nancy’s arm. One of the men held Nancy’s head so that she could not see what was being done, while the other man held Nancy’s arm down. Despite her demands to know what they were doing, no one answered her. Nancy experienced bruising and swelling in her neck and arm long after she was released from custody.
Nancy was then escorted by the two men into a cell area, where she was forced to disrobe and put on a “suicide gown”, consisting of a heavy, jacket-type blanket that fastens around the body with Velcro. Nancy was not permitted to wear undergarments under the blanket. Nancy was required to wear this same “suicide gown” for the next several days. After three days, Nancy was evaluated by a psychiatrist who determined her to be of sound and stable mind, and immediately removed her from suicide watch.
Later that day, bail was posted, and Nancy was able to go home. Subsequently, all charges against Nancy were dismissed.
Upon Nancy’s release, Undersheriff Caracappa issued a press release in response to media inquiries, titled “Armed Woman Arrested for Trespassing at Suffolk County Gabreski Airport”, which falsely stated that Nancy had been taking pictures of the airport and surrounding security”, and that she became hysterical, and began “screaming and flailing around” when confronted. Undersheriff Caracappa also falsely reported that Nancy had surveillance equipment, 500 rounds of ammunition, and “scary weapons” in her car, and that she was a right-wing extremist and terrorist, and that she had been at the airport trespassing several times and had been warned to stay away. Upon further inquiry, it turns out that Nancy had never trespassed at the airport before, had never been warned by anyone to “stay away” before, had no “surveillance equipment” of any kind other than her point and shoot camera, and certainly was not a terrorist. Undersheriff Caracappa has refused to issue a retraction or correction.
Nancy has filed a Federal Lawsuit seeking up to 70 million dollars from the Town of Southampton, the County of Suffolk, Lieutenant Iberger, Undersheriff Caracappa, Deputy Carlock, Lieutenant Leuete, and various other employees of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department. The lawsuit is still ongoing.

Romney Takes Eight Point Lead over Obama!

Big Government ^ | 5/12/12/ | John Nolte

Yesterday, Rasmussen had Governor Romney up 7 points over Obama, 50-43. Today, the poll's rolling three-day average has increased Romney's lead to 8, 50-42.

Any way you slice it, this is horrible news for a sitting incumbent. Not only has his challenger reached the magic 50-point mark for two days running, but any incumbent under 50, especially in the mid-to-low 40s, is in deep trouble. According to Rasmussen, 58% of the country is not ready to vote for this known quantity.

And it's just a fact that undecideds almost always choose the challenger.

When the U.S. really did try austerity, it worked! ^ | May 11 2012 | James Pethokoukis

Now, we all all know “austerity” from deep spending cuts (not the tax hikes, of course) is killing Europe’s economy and would do the same here in America, right?

Well, here’s a story about austerity that critics such as President Obama, Paul Krugman, and Ezra Klein never seem to mention: From 1944 to 1948, Uncle Sam cut spending by a whopping 75% as World War II came to end. Spending as a share of GDP plunged to 9% in 1948 from 44% in 1944.

Superstar economist and devout Keynesian Paul Samuelson—later to become the first American to win the Nobel Prize in economics—predicted such shock austerity would cause “the greatest period of unemployment and industrial dislocation which any economy has ever faced.” That dire, disastrous prediction was widely held by his fellow Keynesians, with one even predicting an “epidemic of violence.”
Except the doomsayers were wrong, even though Washington obviously ignored Samuelson’s call for gradual spending reductions. Despite cuts which dwarfed those seen in the EU today—not to mention those Republicans are calling for here at home—the U.S. economy thrived. There was no mass unemployment despite rapid demobilization of the armed forces. As George Mason University economist David Henderson explains is his 2010 paper, “The U.S. Postwar Miracle” (which this entire post draws upon):
"As demobilization proceeded rapidly, employers in the private sector, full of the optimism … scooped up millions of the soldiers, sailors, and others who had been displaced from the armed forces and from military industries. … The number of unemployed people did increase, rising from 0.8 million to 2.3 million, but with a civilian labor force of 60.1 million, the 2.3 million unemployed people implied an unemployment rate of only 3.8 percent. As President Truman said, “This is probably close to the minimum unavoidable in a free economy of great mobility such as ours."
Of course, liberals are quick to point out the U.S. economy suffered its worst one-year downturn in history in 1946, a drop of 12%. To many Americans, it surely must have seemed like Samuelson was right, that the Great Depression had returned. But no one thought that back then, especially with jobs plentiful unlike during the 1930s. The drop in output was a statistical quirk caused by the removal of price controls. As Henderson explains:
"For example, imagine that the free-market price of a pound of filet mignon during the war would have been $1.40 a pound. But imagine further that the government had set the price at $1.00 a pound. Then, when the price control was removed, the price would have shot to $1.40 a pound. Inflation statistics would have recorded some amount of inflation due to this large price increase. But those statistics would have overstated the real price increase because getting beef at $1.40 a pound is better for many of the people who couldn’t, because of the shortage, get it at $1.00 a pound."
Second, those sky-high output figures during the war measured government spending on goods and services, lots of it military hardware, at their cost. But what was all that stuff really worth, in purely economic terms, vs. post-war consumer purchases of homes and cars and nylon stockings? While total output fell by 12% in 1946, private-sector GDP rose by nearly 30%.
Or look at it this this way: Real U.S. output in 1947 was 17% higher than in 1941 despite the decline in government spending. Why was the economy prospering in way it never did during the Great Depression? Taxes were cut a little, and government interference—including price and production controls and rationing—was reduced a lot. But perhaps just as important, Truman dumped many of FDR’s most radical New Dealers. That change boosted business confidence, and companies started to invest again in America.
The typical Keynesian response mostly centers around dismissing the immediate post-war boom as a one-off event complicated by many unique factors. But it happened again, as Henderson notes! After the Cold War ended, overall federal spending fell to 18% of GDP in 2000 from 22% in 1991. But again the economy boomed. Real U.S. GDP grew by 40% with an average annual growth rate of 3.8%. Henderson speculates that perhaps the decline in defense spending freed up knowledge workers to help make technological miracles happen in the private economy.
The lesson here: Spending cuts might well produce prosperity instead of austerity, especially if accompanied by less government interference in the economy and less fear in the private sector of anti-market government policies.

Save Social Security: Restore Economic Growth (3 possible scenarios we can look forward to)

American Thinker ^ | 05/06/2012 | Fred Bauer

The April release of the 2012 Social Security Trustees Report has occasioned considerable media coverage. Much of this coverage has emphasized the report's finding that the date for Social Security's bankruptcy has been pushed to around 2033 (the 2011 report suggested that bankruptcy would instead occur in 2036). Yet the implications of this report are not confined solely to the matter of public finances, and policy reforms for Social Security are not the only thing that could improve the outlook for this program.

Like many federal programs, Social Security is dependent upon the health of the broader U.S. economy; the poor economic performance of the past few years (if not the past decade) has taken a considerable toll on the program. In thinking about managing Social Security, the right should not miss the influence of economic performance upon the sustainability of this federal program.

The Trustees Report lays out three scenarios for the future of Social Security: low-cost (where there's less unemployment and higher growth), high-cost (slow growth and high unemployment), and intermediate. The projections Social Security uses are based on the intermediate model. Under this model, after a brief spike in growth, real GDP growth would hover around a little over 2% for the foreseeable future. The combined retirement and disability trust fund would be exhausted in 2033, being able to make 75% of its obligations by that point. By 2086, Social Security would be able to pay for 73% of its promised obligations. However, there are no guarantees that this scenario will come to fruition.

Furthermore, Social Security's finances could be even worse than this report anticipates. The report estimates that unemployment will drop under 8% by 2015 and that real GDP growth will be over 3% a year for a number of years after 2014.

Democrats Make Gay Marriage a Major Political Issue! ^ | 11 May 2012 | John Semmens

President Obama announced that his thinking has evolved to the point where he now supports the idea that persons of the same sex are entitled to marry one another. “Look, Jesus spent his career in the company of men,” Obama pointed out. “He never married. I think we have a pretty good indication that it was only the prejudice of the religious and secular authorities that prevented him hooking up with one of the Apostles—perhaps the mysterious ‘beloved apostle.’ I say it’s time that prejudice and repression of gays come to an end.”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) said she is hoping that the President’s endorsement of gay marriage will persuade voters “to look past economic disappointments and reward the President and his Party for this momentous achievement. The President’s courageous decision is a reminder to us all that petty concerns over paychecks and jobs pale in comparison to the need to establish equal rights for all. President Obama filled my heart with joy. I think his action here fulfills Jesus’ message of universal love.”

Representative (QUEER) Barney Frank (D-Mass) predicted that this open endorsement of gay rights will be a winning issue for Democrats in November because “it gives America’s gay majority the incentive to come out in force to reelect the President. I would advise every Democrat to get on this bandwagon while they can.” The first wave of Democrats taking Frank’s advice included Representatives Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (Fla), Nita Lowey (NY), Jim Himes (Conn), Jared Polis (Colo), Peter Welch (Vt), Xavier Becerra (Calif) and Jackie Speier (Calif).

In related news, a bill that would make it a crime to try to dissuade children from choosing a homosexual lifestyle is expected to pass in that state’s heavily Democratic legislature. California Senate Bill 1172 would make it illegal for therapists, psychologists, counselors and parents to engage in any kind of “sexual orientation change efforts” for children 18 and younger. The bill’s sponsor, Senator Ted Lieu (D-Torrance), maintained that “a person’s sexual orientation is in his genes. Anyone who attempts to divert a person from his or her gay destiny is committing a crime against human nature.”

High school junkie Barack Obama has always been a fake! ^ | May 12, 2012 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

To become the type of fake Barack Obama is takes years of work. Now past fifty,if we are to believe his questionable birth documents, he has perfected the art of fakery, but getting there had to start many years ago in high school.

When he was a shiftless high school student in Hawaii Barack Obama habitually used drugs to get through “the daily demands” of doing little or no academic work.

In one of his autobiographies (how narcissistic does one have to be to write two while not yet 45 years old?) Dreams From My Father Obama wrote that he “tried drugs enthusiastically.”
He was such an open and regular user of pot that he had a “Choom Gang” which was the term Hawaiian high school drug addicts used to refer to their pot using circle of friends.
As late as 2007 – remember that was when he was telling reporters he was not planning to run in 2008 because he was too “inexperienced”) he told an audience “I will confess to you that I was kind of a goof off in high school as my mom reminded me.
I went to high school in Hawaii, so there’s a lot of opportunity to goof off because the weather is really good all the time … You know, I made some bad decisions …. You know, got into drinking and experimenting with drugs.
There was a whole stretch of time where I didn’t apply myself. It wasn’t until I got out of … high school, and went to college that I started realizing, man, I wasted a lot of time.”
While he was inhaling and snorting his way through high school (he also talks about using cocaine in those years – (but of course not since then, right?)

Our Shameless MSM…Carrying Obama’s Water!

Flopping Aces ^ | 05-12-12 | Curt

Unbiased my ass:

Washington Post ombudsman Patrick Pexton touted the Post’s Romney-haircut “scoop” as a “deeply reported story” that “holds up to scrutiny.” But the family of the haircut victims told ABC it was “factually inaccurate” and it shouldn’t be used as a political football. Pexton said nonsense: the Post has received “no specific complaint of inaccuracy.” Perhaps more shocking is that the Post shamelessly admits they timed this story precisely to echo on the day after President Obama’s big pro-gay announcement. They actually waited a day longer than planned to let Obama have the front page to himself when he was being “historic.” Pexton’s only nod to the right: he panned the sneaky update that’s still not a “correction”:
Stu White was portrayed in the original story as being “disturbed” by the alleged haircut incident for decades, and then it was amended to a couple of weeks. That’s embarrassing, but not to the shameless Post
Our media is beyond shameless. They have all but announced their intention. Get Obama elected by targeting Romney for anything.

Romney address at Liberty Univ. sparks controversy Mitt Romney is to deliver the commencement address Saturday at Virginia's Liberty University, the largest evangelical college in the country.
His visit has stirred debate in the conservative Christian community, because some believe his Mormon faith is a cult.
Bryan Preston notes:

Protestants are the nation’s largest religious group, and evangelicals are the largest group within that group. Since when is it controversial for a presidential candidate to speak to such a large and mainstream group?
But bring up the fact that Obama borrowed language from prior Communist dictators as his campaign slogan and the MSM goes silent.

GAO: Recoverable Oil in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming 'About Equal to Entire World’s Proven Reserves'!

CNSNews ^ | May 11, 2012 | Terence P. Jeffrey

Video at link

Rock Springs, Wyo. (BLM Photo)

( - The Green River Formation, a largely vacant area of mostly federal land that covers the territory where Colorado, Utah and Wyoming come together, contains about as much recoverable oil as all the rest the world’s proven reserves combined, an auditor from the Government Accountability Office told Congress on Thursday.

The GAO testimony stressed that the federal government was in “a unique position to influence the development of oil shale” because the Green River deposits were mostly beneath federal land.
It also noted that developing the oil would pose “socioeconomic challenges,” which included bringing “a sizable influx of workers who along with their families put additional stress on local infrastructure” and “making planning for growth difficult for local governments.”
“The Green River Formation--an assemblage of over 1,000 feet of sedimentary rocks that lie beneath parts of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming--contains the world's largest deposits of oil shale,”Anu K. Mittal, the GAO’s director of natural resources and environment said in written testimony submitted to the House Science Subcommittee on Energy and Environment.
“USGS estimates that the Green River Formation contains about 3 trillion barrels of oil, and about half of this may be recoverable, depending on available technology and economic conditions,” Mittal testified.
“The Rand Corporation, a nonprofit research organization, estimates that 30 to 60 percent of the oil shale in the Green River Formation can be recovered,” Mittal told the subcommittee. “At the midpoint of this estimate, almost half of the 3 trillion barrels of oil would be recoverable. This is an amount about equal to the entire world's proven oil reserves.”
In her oral statement before the subcommittee, Mittal said that developing the shale oil would create wealth and jobs for the country, but also challenges for government.
“Being able to tap this vast amount of oil locked within this formation will go a long way to help to meet our future demands for oil. The U.S. Geological Survey, as you noted, estimates that the formation contains about 3 trillion barrels of oil of which half may be recoverable,” she said.
“As you can imagine having the technology to develop this vast energy resource will lead to a number of important socioeconomic benefits including the creation of jobs, increases in wealth and increases in tax and royalty payments for federal and state governments,” she said.
“While large-scale oil-shale development offers socioeconomic opportunities it also poses certain socioeconomic challenges that also should not be overlooked,” she testified. “Oil shale development like other extractive industries can bring a sizable influx of workers who along with their families put additional stressed on local infrastructure. Development from expansion of extractive industries has historically followed a boom-and-bust cycle making planning for growth difficult for local governments.”
In her written testimony , Mittal noted that three-fourths of the Green River shale oil is under federal land.
“The federal government is in a unique position to influence the development of oil shale because nearly three-quarters of the oil shale within the Green River Formation lies beneath federal lands managed by the Department of the Interior’s (Interior) Bureau of Land Management (BLM),” she testified.

The Washington Post’s Romney hit piece comes apart (An astonishing journalistic train wreck.)

Human Events ^ | 5/11/2012 | John Hayward

The Washington Post was already skating on thin ice with its fantastically convenient hit piece on Mitt Romney, published in perfect synchronization with President Obama’s embrace of gay marriage.

Designed to paint Romney as a mean-spirited homophobic bully during his prep school days – which, let us remember, occurred over seventeen thousand days ago – the ridiculously bloated and overly-dramatic 5000-word Post “expose” related the story of how Romney allegedly led a gang of high-school hooligans and forcibly cut the hair of a “presumably gay” fellow student named John Lauber.
The piece does a great deal of mind-reading to insinuate homophobia, and in an amazing set of concluding paragraphs, heavily implies that Romney essentially murdered this poor kid with his scissors – it just took his body four decades to collapse around his broken spirit. John Lauber died of liver cancer in 2004, an even the Post dramatically contrasts with Romney accepting the Distinguished Alumni award from the Cranbrook prep school, concluding with a melancholy salute to Lauber’s hair, which he never stopped bleaching blond.

The Post based this hit on testimony from five men who “mostly lean Democratic,” including one who was a volunteer for the 2008 Obama campaign. No one else seems able remember the incident taking place.
Including, as it turns out, both a friend of Romney’s that the Post openly and fraudulently asserted had “long been bothered” by the haircut hazing… and the “victim’s” own family.
Romney friend Stu White dropped the first bombshell on the Washington Post’s phony story, telling ABC News “he was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair, and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.” The assertion that he was “long bothered” by Romney’s alleged display of full-contact barbering was entirely false, and there is no way to claim it was not a deliberately false impression inserted into the Post story, since they knew perfectly well that they are the ones who told White about it, just a few weeks ago.
Much worse for the Post was a statement released by John Lauber’s sister Betsy, which reads, in full: “The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family.”
Wow. Just… wow. The Post apparently didn’t bother clearing their smear job with the victim’s family, even though they interviewed both Christine and Betsy Lauber for the piece. They thought they were contributing to a respectful tribute, not an ugly partisan hit.
Christine Lauber told ABC News that her brother never mentioned the allegedly life-destroying traumatic incident related by the Washington Post, and “probably wouldn’t have said anything” even if something like it did happen, because he presumably was not the fragile character he has been portrayed as. Furthermore, she tearfully insisted that “if he were still alive today, he would be furious” over the Post story.
But wait! This gets worse. Someone at the Post apparently panicked after Stu White spilled the beans to ABC News, because they committed one of the greatest sins in journalism: they quietly edited the Romney hit piece without publishing a retraction, as requested in writing. The false statement about Stu White has been changed to read as follows:
“I always enjoyed his pranks,” said Stu White, a popular friend of Romney’s who went on to a career as a public school teacher and said he has been “disturbed” by the Lauber incident since hearing about it several weeks ago, before being contacted by The Washington Post. “But I was not the brunt of any of his pranks.”
This was a colossally stupid move on the Post’s part. How often do people have to be reminded that the Internet never forgets? That caches and screen grabs of dishonestly edited material rest comfortably in the hands of media watchdogs?
ABC mentions that some other, as yet nameless, classmates of Romney are eager to dish dirt on his teenage misbehavior, although no one seems ready to corroborate the Lauber hair hazing incident. That effort will misfire badly, and solidify support for Romney from a public sick unto death of attempts to distract from Barack Obama’s record in office.
They’re almost equally sick of journalistic double standards. They’ve been hearing for years that even the most reasonable inquiry into Obama’s shadowy past – even simple requests for ordinary documentation – are completely out of bounds, and can only be motivated by racial animosity. But now they’re supposed to sit still while a bunch of 60-year-olds are trotted out to reminisce about what a handful Mitt Romney was, during his school days in 1965? All because Obama hatchet man David Axelrod needs to spin a campaign narrative that plugs into the “gay marriage” and “bullying” crusade?
At this point, the most interesting “journalism” remaining to be done on the Teen Mitt haircut incident is determining whether Axelrod was directly involved in crafting the Post story. Does anyone want to leak some internal emails so we can get the ball rolling, and find out if there were direct, documentable ties to the Obama campaign? Or did the Post cook this up on their own, taking the initiative to offer journalistic support after being told the Obama gay marriage flip-flop was coming, with one eye fixed nervously on the President’s cratering poll numbers? This is already the most spectacular case of journalistic malpractice since George Zimmerman became the world’s pre-eminent “white Hispanic.” Let’s take this baby into the stratosphere and leave some chemtrails!
It’s really interesting the way the Washington Post chose to end their article, by noting that Romney received an alumni award just a year after John Lauber’s untimely death. You know what happened a year before Lauber lost his battle against liver cancer? A boat carrying a family of four, two friends, and the family’s dog sprang a leak on Lake Winnipesaukee, dumping them into the dark waters of early evening, and leaving them to howl in terror as other boats zipped around them. Mitt Romney and two of his sons happened to be vacationing in the area. They jumped onto jet skis and raced to the rescue. Governor Romney was pulled off his jet ski at one point. They even saved the dog, a Scottish terrier.
A couple of years before that, Romney performed a similar rescue for a group of kayakers who were shoved onto hard rocks by fierce winds.
In 1996, the fourteen-year-old daughter of a Bain Capital partner was kidnapped. When Mitt Romney learned of this, he shut down the entire multi-million dollar firm and flew the entire staff to New York, so they could help look for the girl. Romney hired private detectives, set up a toll-free tip line, coordinated with the NYPD, papered the streets with fliers, contacted every Bain customer in the city, and personally hit the bricks with the Bain crew to join the search. They found her, just in the nick of time – she was dying from an overdose of drugs in a New Jersey basement. She was only rescued because someone saw news coverage of Romney’s search efforts.
Thirty years earlier, Mitt Romney was a high school student who may, or may not, have been slightly more of a jerk than the average teenage boy. How’s that for an “evolution?” Why on Earth would any reasonable person think his high school misadventures tell us more about his character than his deeds later in life?
Update: After enduring a day of pounding for their stealth edit, the Post added this editor's note to the bottom of the Romney piece: "An earlier version of this story reported that White 'has long been bothered' by the Lauber incident. White later clarified in a subsequent interview that he has been disturbed by the incident since he learned of it several weeks ago from a former classmate, before being contacted by The Washington Post."
Horsefeathers. White didn't "clarify" anything in a "subsequent interview." The Post author invented that false assertion out of thin air.

Ex-Gov. Pataki to Newsmax: Obama's Record Will Doom His Re-election Bid

Newsmax ^ | MAY 11, 2012 | Jim Meyers and John Bachman

Former New York Gov. George Pataki tells Newsmax that President Barack Obama cannot run on his record and will instead try to “dump” on his presumptive White House opponent Mitt Romney — but will fail in his re-election bid.

The veteran Republican politician, who was governor on Sept. 11, 2001, also says the administration’s initial decision to try 9/11 terrorists in civilian courts in Manhattan “was one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard.”

Pataki was elected governor in 1994, defeating three-term Democratic Gov. Mario Cuomo, and was re-elected in 1998 and 2002. He previously served in the New York State Senate and House, and recently established a super PAC, Tipping Point, to help Republican congressional candidates in New York.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, Pataki — who had reservations about supporting Romney — explained why he has now decided to strongly endorse the former Massachusetts governor.
“Gov. Romney has shown, No. 1, his ability to win,” Pataki says. “Two, he has become a far better candidate relating to people, dealing with debate issues, and he has supported things like deficit reduction along the lines of what the House is doing.

What Has Made Congress More Polarized?

RealClearPolitics ^ | May 11, 2012 | Sean Trende

Thomas Mann and Norm Ornstein ignited a bit of a firestorm with their column describing Republicans as main drivers behind Washington's problems. The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza has made some excellent points with regard to Mann and Ornstein's qualitative arguments, and other thorough responses abound. Rather than revisiting these points, I would like to focus my attention on the quantitative arguments made at the end of the article. Mann and Ornstein note that:

“[P]olitical scientists Keith Poole and Howard Rosenthal, who have long tracked historical trends in political polarization, said their studies of congressional votes found that Republicans are now more conservative than they have been in more than a century. Their data show a dramatic uptick in polarization, mostly caused by the sharp rightward move of the GOP.”

Again, to illustrate this point, DW-NOMINATE suggests that Congress became much less polarized in the 1920s and 30s, which is probably true. But it suggests that both parties moved toward the center (and that both Northern and Southern Democrats, on average moved toward the center). There simply isn't any support for the idea that the Democrats in the 1936 Congress were, on average, more conservative than Democrats in the 1926 Congress, at least in the sense that contemporary pundits use the term. But as the agenda moved leftward, the rise of the Conservative Coalition has the effect of pulling both parties toward the center, even though, overall, both were probably becoming more liberal.

DW-NOMINATE remains a powerful tool, especially if you keep its limitations in mind and are looking at discrete Congresses (or really are interested purely in polarization). It even sheds interesting light on realignment theory. But it really doesn’t do any of the things the popular press is claiming it does, at least not particularly well.

What Media Were Saying About Bush's Economy in 2004

SF Chron ^ | 8-11-2004 | David Lazarus

Look at how the Media was Blasting GWB just 4 years into his term. Take a gander at the stats....I WISH we could a deficit that low....

Sometimes I sympathize with President Bush. Really.

Last week's dismal report on job creation -- a scant 32,000 jobs created versus 240,000 expected -- left our re-election-seeking president little wiggle room on the economic front.

"Economic growth is strong and getting stronger," Bush told a gathering of minority journalists after the jobs number was released.

It can't be easy to have to defend your economic policies when all evidence suggests that average Americans are worse off today than they were four years ago.

Here are just a few of the numbers:
-- When Bush took office on Jan. 20, 2001, the Dow Jones industrial average was at 10,587.59. It closed Tuesday at 9,944.67.
-- When Bush took office, the unemployment rate was 4.2 percent. It's now 5.5 percent, according to the Labor Department.
-- When Bush took office, U.S. consumer debt totaled almost $1.7 trillion. It's now $2.038 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve.
-- When Bush took office, bankruptcy filings during the previous year totaled almost 1.3 million, down 5 percent from a year before. By Dec. 31, 2003, bankruptcies had hit a record of nearly 1.7 million, up 5.2 percent from 2002, according to the American Bankruptcy Institute.
-- When Bush took office, the federal budget had been balanced for three straight years and was, in the 2000 fiscal year, running a surplus of $236 billion -- the largest in U.S. history.

The White House today is projecting a record budget deficit this year of $445 billion.

Clooney's Obama Party Full of 'Hollywood Hypocrites'

Clooney's Obama party full of 'Hollywood Hypocrites' May 10, 2012 Steve Lopez
They say tonight's soiree for President Obama at George Clooney's house in Studio City is supposed to gross $15 million, and the operative word is "gross."

And what about the thousands of saps who pumped an average of $23 into Obama's campaign coffers for the chance to be one of the two peons chosen to break bread with the VIPs?

I'd rather watch the Lakers game from a bar stool, which in fact is what I may do.

I haven't seen Clooney's guest list, but I'd bet $2 -– and not a penny more –- that his house will be full of that particularly unctuous strain of liberals who live for events like this that make them feel good about themselves but don't really give a toss for their own community. Los Angeles could end up declaring bankruptcy and these posers will be telling friends about their big night at George's house.
Fifteen million dollars -– a third of it raised by the local big shots -– is peanuts to Obama, really. Another drop in a bucket the size of Santa Monica Bay. And isn't money the root of all evil in politics, whether it's from out-of-control "super PACs" or wanna-be-seen moguls who might be expecting something in return for ponying up?

Los Angeles is shutting school libraries, laying off teachers and shutting down firehouses. And VIPs are paying $40,000 for a Wolfgang Puck hors d'oeuvre and a silly photo with a president who only now has come to think it might be OK for gay people to have the same rights as straight people.

Open your eyes, Hollywood hypocrites!

Rep. Allen West: Obama May Lose African American Votes Over QUEER Marriage

ABC News ^ | May 10, 2012 | Chris Good

Some African Americans will think twice about voting for President Obama in November after he declared his support for gay marriage, according to Republican Rep. Allen West of Florida.

“I think it’s going to cause an incredible discussion in the black community, because, as you know, on Sundays in the black community the most conservative people in America are in those black churches,” West told ABC News on Thursday.

“I think it may have been a huge miscalculation, especially when you have 41 states that recognize marriage between one man and one woman, and you just came off an incredible loss to them. Sixty-nine percent voted for [the recent same-sex marriage ban] in North Carolina, which is a key swing state he barely won last time,” West said

He noted that even as African Americans overwhelmingly supported Obama in 2008, gay marriage bans passed in both Florida and California.

African Americans oppose gay marriage 55 percent to 41 percent, while all poll respondents support it 52 percent to 43 percent, according to an ABC News poll taken in March. While 94 percent of black voters in California supported Obama in 2008, 70 percent also supported the Proposition 8 ban on gay marriage, according to exit polls....

President Admits He Sometimes Forgets the Magnitude of the Recession

Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 11 May 2012 | John Semmens

President Obama asked voters to forgive him if he sometimes fails to feel their pain over lost employment, foreclosed homes, and mounting personal debt.

“I've led kind of a sheltered life,” the President admitted. “I went to private schools when I was young. I had a scholarship to go to college. I never really had to worry about working to pay my own way. Now, of course, as President, I live in a big house with dozens of servants. I have my own jumbo jet to fly me wherever I want. So, you can see how it might be hard for me to relate to the common people.”

Obama said he hoped that voters wouldn't forget that “the recession is not my fault. It started before I got here. I've done everything I could to try to correct the problem. What other president has spent as much to try to heal the economy? I mean, how much more generous could I have been?”

Air Force One, Military Do Not Belong to Obama!

Yahoo News ^ | May 11, 2012 | Roy A. Barnes

CBS News reported Friday that President Barack Obama held a fundraiser in Los Angeles at the home of movie actor George Clooney Thursday, and raised about $15 million.

Yet the most troubling part of the report was the following words, "The star of the evening, the president, arrived at LAX in his private jet, Air Force One."

The mainstream media had better get this straight -- Air Force One is not the "private jet" of the president, period. We are supposed to live in a country where presidents don't conduct themselves like kings, and the establishment media enables this "king" mentality with such reporting. Continued references like this are a big turn off to voters, especially to those who are struggling. And the president needs to also keep that in mind because he's had an issue about what is his and isn't this week.

If Air Force One belongs to Obama, why do taxpayers pay the brunt of the $179,750 per hour for the operating costs of this plane, per Defense Department calculations as reported by WSOC-TV? Individuals or corporations who own private jets pay all of the operating costs. By CBS News' logic, Obama should be paying all of these costs. On his presidential salary of $400,000 per year, that wouldn't be enough to run the plane three hours.

As for the president himself, when he came out for same sex marriage earlier this week, he made an interesting reference to the military during his interview with ABC, remarking, "those soldiers or airmen or Marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf," as reported by The Weekly Standard.

Bye bye unemployment benefits (states roll off the federal extended benefits program - 200,000 hit)

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- More than 200,000 long-term jobless Americans will lose their unemployment checks this week, when eight states roll off the federal extended benefits program.

Nearly half of them live in California, and the rest reside in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Texas.

The federal extended benefits program has provided the jobless with up to 20 weeks of unemployment checks after they've run through their state and their federal emergency benefits, which together last up to 79 weeks.

But the extended benefits program is expiring throughout the country as the economy improves. To be eligible for these benefits, a state must show that its unemployment rate is at least 10% higher than it was in at least one of the past three years.

Nearly 200,000 Florida Voters May Not Be Citizens

Tens of thousands of voters could be dropped from the rolls this election year!

Florida officials are now saying that nearly 200,000 registered voters may not be U.S. citizens.
Earlier in the week, state election officials announced they had identified more than 2,600 people who are in Florida legally but ineligible to vote.

The Department of State is asking county election officials to verify the information. Election supervisors are contacting voters and if someone is not a citizen, their name will be dropped from the voter rolls.
But an initial list drawn up by the state — and not widely released — shows that a comparison of voter lists and driver's license information turned up a list of nearly 182,000 people who may not be U.S. citizens.

State officials, however, note that some of those on list may have become citizens after first getting their driver's licenses. Still, the decision to screen the voter rolls for non-citizens could result in tens of thousands voters being dropped in the middle of a critical election year.

President Barack Obama won Florida four years ago, but recent polls have shown that he is neck-and-neck with likely GOP nominee Mitt Romney. The 2000 election between George W. Bush and Al Gore was decided by just 537 votes in the Sunshine State.
