Where are the jobs in this “jobless recovery” Mr. Obama?

coachisright.com ^ | April 11, 2012 | Kevin "Coach" Collins
Remember when that snarky Plastic Faced hag Nancy Pelosi used to demand of George Bush, “Where are the jobs Mr. President?”?

Remember when the Democrat cheerleaders in the media convinced enough halfwits an unemployment rate under 5% was putting America on the brink of collapse? We might not hear remarks like that now but they are more appropriate than ever in our lifetime.

As meager as Obama’s reported number of jobs was last week, experts (Democrats LOVE to quote experts except when they say things they don’t like) said the unusually warm winter has distorted and inflated even the small jobs growth we might have experienced last month.

Because there was no “seasonal change” to cheat with, the Bureau of Labor Statistics can’t claim a “seasonal adjustment” to make its numbers look better now and adjust them downward later when they think no one will be watching.

The “surge” in hiring we were told happened (if it actually took place) in March may very well be a blip on an otherwise flat lining screen.

The warm weather experienced by almost the whole country encouragede vigorous approach to job hunting on the part of many who were seeking employment.

Outdoor jobs such as construction and retail jobs related to construction work opened up as the temperatures climbed.
Lawn care related jobs such as mower sales and repair jumped up 40% while sun care related sales employment went up 17%. Even bottled water sales jobs grew by 5% along with outdoor recreation.
But thinking this will continue puts one on thin and melting ice.
“ managing director …..Macroeconomic Advisers, a firm which studies job growth and contractions, as they relate to weather, said ……. 30 percent of the 227,000 jobs added in February were “warm weather” jobs.

Obama’s money woes!

Yahoo! News ^ | April 11, 2012 | Amy Walter, David Chalian, Rick Klein, Richard Coolidge & Sherisse Pham
President Obama has money troubles. The president's re-election campaign was rumored to be a $1 billion juggernaut, it was supposed to dominate the 2012 election. But it has fallen short of that lofty number, by a lot.

The inability to reach the big B is a warning signal to the base. In 2008 Democrats had every reason in the world to donate, and they need to be convinced of the same this time around.

It’s Sheriffs First in Arizona!

http://blog.tenthamendmentcenter.com ^

A short piece of legislation recently passed by the Arizona legislature makes a big statement.

HB2434 affirms the sheriffs of Arizona as the supreme constitutional law enforcement officers in their counties and serves notice to the federal government that it must work through them to exercise their limited powers.
The bill simply states that:

A. Before taking any official law enforcement action in a county in this state, a federal law enforcement officer shall notify the sheriff of the county, unless the notification would impede the federal officer’s duties.

B. If a federal law enforcement officer does not notify the sheriff pursuant to subsection A. of this section, the federal law enforcement officer shall notify the sheriff of the county as soon as practicable after taking the action.

After the original version of HB2434 dealing with bail bond prohibitions passed the House unanimously last month, the Senate used a maneuver called “strike everything,” which allows lawmakers to substitute a new bill into an existing bill number. The Senate passed the federal law enforcement notification legislation 20-8 on April 4. The House took up the new bill and passed it 38-17 on April 9. The legislation now moves on the Gov. Brewer for her signature.

This bill may appear insignificant, but it does two important things.

First, it serves notice to the federal government that its authorities operate in Arizona with oversight and reaffirms the sovereignty of the state.

Secondly, it puts the county sheriff in the position to protect the rights and liberties of Arizona citizens from federal overreach.

Explosion at GM Tech Center; lithium battery is the suspected cause! (VOLT IS WONDERFUL!)

autoweek.com ^ | 4/11/12 | David Arnouts
According to WWJ Detroit, there was an explosion at the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, Mich., on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Fire Chief Gary Wilkinson said the explosion most likely was related to a lithium battery.

Wilkinson told Autoweek that a responder notified the HAZMAT team via radio that the explosion involved lithium batteries in the research facility's Alternative Energy Center.

The fire was extinguished and portions of the facility were evacuated, but responders were still on the scene.

Two people were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Obama as Farce : "it's hard to walk back idiocy"

am thinker ^ | 4/11/12 | w gensert

Karl Marx said history repeats itself, "first as tragedy, then as farce." Barack Obama has reversed that. His first term was certainly farce; his second will be tragedy.
Obama has Forrest Gumped his way through his presidency, except without the success, charm, and endearing sweetness of the original. He has given America three and a half years of farce, even if no one is laughing.

He is an adumbrated president, desperate about his re-election prospects. Sold as a bipartisan moderate, a post-racial healer, a transformative leader -- we were told he would not just solve our problems, but heal the earth and save humanity.

The president has governed as a hyper-partisan, race-baiting, barely present tyrant with absolutely no leadership skills and little regard for the constitution. His daily ululations paint anyone who dares to disagree as evil and un-American. People are either pro-Barack or an enemy of the nation -- there is no in-between.

It is the intangible aspects of the presidency where Barack Obama is most adept: entertaining, vacationing, and golf. The parties are legendary and extravagant. Bringing the NBA to the White House, or the NFL or Motown or Broadway -- when he feels like it, the party comes to him. The vacations are even more extravagant, and the golf...everyone knows about the golf. He may not be good, but at least he puts in the time.

America has to pay for it all, but this is an opportunity to see the true Barack Obama, surrounded by minions and sycophants constantly telling him how great he is. Is it any surprise he wants four more years of this?

Obama hagiographer Davis Guggenheim has said, "I mean, the negative for me was there were too many accomplishments." Barack wholeheartedly agrees;

Allen West: Half the Democrats in Congress are Communists!

The Hill ^

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) says he's heard that almost half of all the Democrats in Congress are secretly part of the Communist Party.

He offered no names or proof of his accusation.

West told almost 100 Floridians in Palm City on Tuesday that "he's heard" as many as 80 Democrats in Congress are members of the Communist Party, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The freshman Republican, an outspoken conservative and Tea Party favorite, is a longtime critic of the Democratic Party.
At the same event, he charged that President Obama was "scared" to meet with him.
"I really wish that, standing here before you, was Allen West and President Obama," West said, according to the report. "We could have a simple discussion. But that ain't ever gonna happen."
West has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential pick for the 2012 Republican nominee. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley ( R) called him a "good" choice. Sarah Palin has also spoken highly of him.
West said on Friday that he would join the presidential ticket "if it was the right fit."
"The focus is, of course, being a good congressional representative,” West said in an interview with CNN. "But if someone were to make that call to me, which I really doubt is ever going to happen, you would have to make sure that it is something that God would ordain for you, and you’d have to talk to your wife, my wife and my two daughters about. But we have always stepped up to the plate to serve our country. And if it’s the right fit, then I will do so."

‘Buffett Rule' is not a campaign ‘gimmick,' Obama says (Everything Obama does is a gimmick)

ABC ^ | 4/11/2012 | Olivier Knox
President Barack Obama defended his "Buffett Rule" proposal for higher taxes on the very rich Wednesday, denying it was a reelection campaign "gimmick" that will do little to close the deficit or spur job growth.

"This is not simply an issue of redistributing wealth," Obama said. "This is not just about fairness. This is also about growth. This is also about being able to make the investments we need to succeed and it's about we, as a country, being willing to pay for those investments and closing our deficits."

The president took aim at critics who say, in his words, "This is just a gimmick, just taxing millionaires and billionaires, just imposing the Buffett Rule won't do enough to close the deficit. "

He went on: "I agree, that's not all we have to do to close the deficit.

Obama's proposed "Buffet Rule" would pay for three days' INTEREST on the national debt!

Fox led the hour with Obama in his best campaign, hectoring, glowering rant, lying about how "The Buffet Rule" would help the country out of debt by making the Evil Rich pay more income tax, and make it "more fair" for the middle class who, according to Obama, pays all the taxes in the country while the Evil Rich parties on, tax-free.

Varney then followed by noting that if the unconstitutional Buffet Rule were applied, the entire extra in taxes from the rich would pay for three whole days' interest on the national debt. Not three days of debt, just three days' interest on the debt.

The Rancid Media, of course, will be silent on the actual facts.

Limbaugh is saying today that panic is setting-in at the White House. I hope so.

$494 billion tax increase to hit in 2013

The Daily Caller ^ | April 10, 2012 | Caroline May

It will be up to Washington to save the country from what the Washington Post has dubbed “Taxmageddon” — the looming tax increase set to hit Americans on Jan. 1.
Curtis Dubay, a senior analyst in Tax Policy at the Heritage Foundation, has chronicled the taxes set to hit if Congress and the administration do not make adjustments.

According to Dubay, Americans will see a $494 billion tax increase at the beginning of 2013.

“[The tax increase] is hitting because of expiring tax policies and the beginning of five taxes in Obamacare,” Dubay told The Daily Caller.

Dubay’s study of the looming $494 billion tax increase highlights the policies set to expire. These include the Bush tax cuts, the payroll tax cut, the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) patch, the tax cuts in the 2009 stimulus, tax extenders, the estate tax adjustment, and 100 percent business investment expensing.

Additionally, Durbay points out, that five of the eighteen tax increases in Obamacare will begin next year.

“Seventy percent of the tax hike falls directly on middle and low income families,” Dubay said. “That might surprise some people because you’ve heard for the last 12 years that the Bush tax cuts were just tax cuts for the rich, which is simply not true.”

Obama admirer to teach ‘Understanding Obama’ class at Harvard Law School

The Daily Caller ^ | April 10, 2012 | Caroline May
Not every Harvard Law School alumnus has a class devoted to him — but then, President Barack Obama is not just any alumnus.

According to the Harvard Law School course catalog, professor Charles Ogletree will be teaching a reading group called “Understanding Obama” for one classroom credit during the 2013 spring term.

“This reading group will focus on the way in which race, religion, and politics have impacted the development of President Obama as a leader,” the Harvard Law School Course Catalog explains. “We will explore his views as a biracial child, his time as a student at Harvard Law School, the successes and failures of his political campaigns, and the way religion and his views on faith nearly derailed his campaign. Finally, time will be spent analyzing the challenges he faces as president of the United States in establishing both his domestic and global policies.”

Obama graduated from Harvard Law School (perhaps) in 1991. He was (perhaps)elected the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review in 1990.

Ogletree was (perhaps) a mentor to both President Obama and Michelle Obama while they were Harvard law students.

Cheap Natural Gas Heralds an Energy Revolution

American Thinker ^ | April 11, 2012 | S. Fred Singer
All bets are off for the future of energy in the United States and, indeed, the world, as the price of natural gas plummets to ever-lower values -- thanks to the development of technology that can access gas and liquids trapped in hitherto inaccessible shale rocks. In 2011, shale gas accounted for a quarter of U.S. natural gas production. But this seemingly bright future may depend on a court decision (expected in June 2012) and, of course, on the outcome of the November elections.

The Economics of Natural Gas:

Consider the history of natural gas prices just in the last few years. In mid-2008, the spot price (at Henry Hub) reached a peak of $13 per mcf (1,000 cubic feet, with a heat value of 1 million Btu -- denoted as 1 MMBTU) -- having doubled since mid-2007. Since then, the price has decreased sharply, dipping to $2 in mid-March, and it now stands at $2.30. If prices decline further, natural gas will be cheaper than the average steam coal, which up until now has been the lowest-cost fuel on a heat basis.
How realistic is such a price path? Operators drilling for gas are also extracting large quantities of natural gas liquids (NGL) as well as crude oil. As pointed out by Richard Trzupek, the profit potential lies in these liquids, as natural gas becomes simply a byproduct. It reminds me of the situation in the early 1970s, 40 years ago, when "associated gas" was so cheap, only pennies per mcf, that it was flared at the well-head. The problem then was the lack of pipelines to convey the gas to consumers in major cities.
Electric Power Generation
With the pipeline problem solved (at least in the Lower 48), consider the consequences...

Are Obama’s job policies hurting women? (Even WP's "Fact Check" admits Obama's policies hurt women)

WASHINGTON POST ^ | 4/10/2012 | glenn kessler

Statement by Sharon Day, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, April 6, 2012
In an effort to fight back against Democratic claims of a Republican “war on women,” the Republican National Committee has rolled out a new and startling fact—that under Obama, women have lost seven times as many jobs as men.
We found this statistic surprising because we had been under the impression that men had fared worse than women in the recession. So do the RNC’s numbers add up?
The Facts
First of all, readers know we frown on the somewhat arbitrary dividing line of measuring jobs statistics by presidential terms. It is a common journalistic — and political — metric. But restarting the employment clock from the moment the president takes the oath of office doesn’t tell you much about a his performance, especially since it takes time for the new president’s policies to take effect.
We’ve argued, without much success, that it would make more sense to measure Obama’s job performance from the end of the recession — June 2009 — since that would also allow at least five months for his policies, such as the stimulus bill, to kick in.
But just as Democrats prefer to measure job growth starting with the period when positive job growth started, Republicans prefer to date Obama’s performance from the moment he took office, as the economy was shedding hundreds of thousands of jobs a month.
The RNC calculated these figures by comparing the decline in the number of all nonfarm employees from January 2009 to March 2012 with the decline in jobs held by women in that period. The numbers, derived from Bureau of Labor Statistics data, do add up.

The Wrong Way to Help the Disabled

Wall Street Journal ^ | April 10, 2012 | JAMES BOVARD

The Obama administration is on the verge of compelling most of the largest corporations and universities, as well as many smaller businesses, to adopt a 7% hiring quota for disabled job applicants—lest they be debarred from doing business with the federal government. This radical personnel policy could raise costs and slash the productivity of almost 200,000 companies with U.S. government contracts.

The Labor Department's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), declared: "For nearly 40 years, the rules have said that contractors simply need to make a 'good faith' effort to recruit and hire people with disabilities. Clearly, that's not working."

The federal government itself has only 5% disabled on its payrolls—and the Labor Department's percentage of disabled employees has decreased every year since President Obama took office, despite a sharp increase in the number of department employees.

The notice in the Federal Register about the hiring quota was more than 53,000 convoluted words, and many businesses and trade associations are vehement that the Labor Department's $81 million estimate of the costs of compliance is greatly underestimated. HR Policy estimates the total cost would be at least $1.8 billion, not counting the losses resulting from companies hiring less-productive employees.

The agency proposes requiring companies to invite all job applicants to label themselves as "disabled" prior to being hired. The International Food Service Distributors Association scoffed at this mandate: "The only thing that information is going to do is give OFCCP ammunition to challenge the non-hiring of individuals with disabilities who were not qualified to perform the jobs."

The regulations would also require companies to invite employees to label themselves disabled after being hired, and once a year thereafter.
