Does someone need to call Child Protective Services?
Check out this clip of a "conservative" 6-year old doing his best Howdy Doody impression while giving us, the American public at large, - 10 reasons why people shouldn't vote to re-elect President Barack Obama.
Rather than dismiss the talkative tyke, we decided to take a look at his reasons,
and see how they stand up to reality.
Shall we?
- 10.) "He wants to take money from people who work hard
and give it to people who don't work at all."
We're guessing that the directors of this video (i.e. his parents), are talking about the Obama administration's stance on welfare.
Earlier this month it was reported that the administration will be granting waivers to states allowing them to This means bureaucratic layers will be taken off of the Welfare Reform act that President Clinton created in 1996,
essentially allowing states to spend more federal assistance money on families in need.
The move comes after social service workers complained that they were filling out more paperwork than actually helping parents find jobs.
To Republican ears, this might sound like more of their money is going right into the pocket of welfare recipients.
- 9.) "He wants everybody to wait in a long line to see the doctor."
A quick search through the White House's "Putting Americans in Control of their Health Care" website gives us a quick answer:
- no.
To find out more about health care deserts and the government's attempts to eradicate them.
- 8.) "He thinks all babies are a burden."
President Obama is a known advocate for choice in the abortion debate,
but it is quite the leap to accuse the father of two daughters of believing that babies are "burdens."
- 7.) "He wants to keep people on welfare and food stamps so people will vote for him."
As of February 2012, 47 percent of beneficiaries of food stamps were under the age of 18, so they can't vote.
But 49 percent of beneficiaries on food stamps were white as of 2010
and in 2008 Obama snatched 43 percent of the white vote,
so maybe the kid has a point there.
- 6.) "He doesn't want Americans to drill for oil or mine for coal."
Actually, Obama does want Americans to do both of those.
But, Republicans just want to do it more often than he would like.
- 5.) "He lets bad guys into our country."
Forgive us if our history is a little rusty,
- but the last time "bad guys" to came into this country and wreaked havoc happened under President George W. Bush's watch,
- 4.) "He wants to take guns away from good guys."
Does working with the leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties, religious groups and civic leaders to sound like a threat to take guns away from "good guys"?
- 3.) "Mr. and Mrs. Obama are not a part of America, but I am."
We knew this was the prevailing narrative against President Obama, but hadn't realized the virus had spread to the first lady.
Joan Tribble must be devastated to learn, in such a public way, that she isn't American after all.
- 2.) "He bows down to leaders from other countries."
To paraphrase the president,
- why doesn't this precocious little fella' ask Osama bin Laden
- if the president bows down to leaders, or otherwise, from other countries.
- 1.) "Nobody knows where he came from."
Judging from him pointing at the coast of South America on the map, where most birthers are convinced Obama's from Kenya,
it looks like this kid isn't old enough to have sat through his geography class yet.
Perhaps someone should inform the young man that the president has released his long form birth certificate to squash the "birther" chatter.
Now, if you're feeling especially generous, perhaps you can get the young man one of these so he'll never make that mistake again!
