Obama: do as I don’t do. Pay more taxes!

President Barack Obama has gotten a lot of mileage out of touting his “Buffett Rule” to force millionaires to pay more in taxes. Maybe he thinks earning three-quarters of a million gives him a free ride.

Obama wants YOU to pay a higher percentage than YOUR secretary

His argument that billionaire Warren Buffett paid a lower percentage of his income in taxes than did Buffett’s secretary seems to resonate with voters. At least it polls well, superficially.
But the president and his wife reported a joint adjusted gross income of $789,674 last year and paid $162,074 in federal taxes, about 20.5 percent. And the president’s secretary paid a higher pecentage on her $95,000 salary, the White House admitted last week.
That, the White House spun to be evidence the Buffett Rule is needed.
What the White House didn’t say – and we await anxiously to hear – is that the president got out his checkbook and wrote a check to the Treasury to elevate his percentage of income paid in taxes above his secretary’s.
We’re still waiting…
All Buffett, Obama and anyone else paying a greater percentage than their secretaries needs to do to fix the problem is write a check.
Still waiting…
Could it be there’s something else going on with all the talk about the “Buffett Rule”?
